Six Cities, Six UK/Florida Game Watch Parties for DanceBlue

UK Alumni groups in Houston, Dallas, Northern Kentucky, Birmingham, and Austin have already hosted game watch parties to raise money for DanceBlue, and now it’s time for the main event with six parties in six cities for tonight’s game against Florida. Lexington, Louisville, Nashville, Chicago, Indianapolis and Washington D.C. are ready to raise money while cheering on the Cats against the seventh-ranked Gators.

Here’s everything you need to know, from each of the participating UK Alumni groups:


LEXINGTON:

On Tuesday, February 12th the Fayette Co. UK Alumni Club is hosting a Mardi Gras Celebration and UK Game Watch Party at Tin Roof to support DanceBlue! DanceBlue is a year-long fundraising effort, which culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on UK’s campus. All of the money raised for DanceBlue goes to the Golden Matrix Fund to support the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology/ Hematology Clinic.

Tin Roof has graciously agreed to donate 20% of all food and drink sales to DanceBlue! Come on out and support DanceBlue while watching the Cats roast the Gators! There will be a $5 cover/donation, with all proceeds going to DanceBlue. Every participant will also have a chance to win one of three pieces of the 2012 Championship Floor, donated by Northwestern Mutual.

 

LOUISVILLE:

Help support the fight against pediatric cancer as you cheer on the Cats against SEC rival, Florida. The second annual DanceBlue in the Lou will be held Tuesday, February 12th at Gerstle’s.  Admission is only $10 and includes one drink ticket. Your ENTIRE admission fee will be donated to DanceBlue. In addition, Gerstle’s will donate 10% of all drink and food sales plus all proceeds from the purchase of Three Olives Vodka (drinks, shots, etc.).

NASHVILLE:

Kentucky basketball fans in the Nashville area will meet at Corner Pub Midtown to watch the Wildcats take on the the Florida Gators.  Corner Pub Midtown is located at 2000 Broadway in the Music City.

The bar will has generously offered donate 10% of sales of DanceBlue, so order a lot of food and beer.

 

CHICAGO:

It’s time for Big Blue Basketball! Join friends and fellow alumni in the Chicagoland UK Alumni Club and cheer for the Cats this season. The Chicagoland UK Alumni Club will host a watch party at The Pony for the all games this basketball season.

We will also be raising money to support DanceBlue at UK. The Pony will be offering food and drink specials throughout the evening.

 

INDIANAPOLIS:

Join your Central Indiana UK Alumni Club as we help raise money for DanceBlue and watch the Cats take on Florida!

We will be auctioning off prizes, including four $25 Drake’s gift cards, and Drake’s will be offering some exclusive food and drink specials. Drakes will also donate 10 percent of the event proceeds to DanceBlue. Donations during the event are greatly appreciated.

Please join us for a fun evening at the newest Indianapolis hot spot as we raise money for this great cause. Wear blue, dance as much as you want and have a great time!

For the third year in a row, the D.C. Wildcats will support a collegiate club participating in DanceBlue. DanceBlue is UK’s 24-hour dance marathon raising money to support children’s cancer research. On Feb. 12, clubs across the nation will join together to raise money to support this year’s dance-a-thon, and cheer on the Cats as they go head-to-head against the Florida Gators. Get involved at two great locations, Grevey’s or Touchdown. At Grevey’s, raffle proceeds and donations will be collected to support DanceBlue and at Touchdown, 10 percent of all purchases (food and drink) and donations will be given in support.

DanceBlue is a student-run philanthropy at the University of Kentucky. It is a year-long fundraising effort involving thousands of UK students, which culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on UK’s campus. All of the money raised by DanceBlue goes to the Golden Matrix Fund. DanceBlue has been active for over seven years, raising more than 3 million dollars for the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Clinic and Markey Cancer Center. Every year, over 120 campus organizations and 700 dancers help raise money to support all the DanceBlue families.

    @ 1: I’m blanking on the name of it right now, but in Denver there’s a bar near Governor’s Park that was a UK spot for games. 7th and Logan if I remember right. I moved away a year and a half ago, so I could be wrong now. Check the alumni association.

    In Louisville, The Brewery, which once was Big Blue Country, which was once the original Brewery, will have all 27 TVs tuned to the Cats tonight. Good atmosphere, good food & cold adult beverages.

    Tuesday night is normally trivia night at Corner Pub in Nashville. I have been there twice for games this season on a Tuesday night and both times they refused to turn the sound on. Just a heads up.
