After being noticeably absent from the Top 25 since early December (the first time EVER under Coach Cal), the Cats seem to be fighting their way back into the national spotlight. Okay, because its UK and they’re defending national champs, Cal’s team has never left the national spotlight. But certainly, the UK basketball team is gaining some credibility back after a rough patch.
The first evidence of a potential re-entry into the Top 25 happened this evening – Seth Davis ranked the Cats at No. 19 on this Top 25 list this week. See the tweet above for confirmation. Also, if you are curious about his upper- list order, here are best five squads in the country according to Seth:
1. Indiana
2. Miami
3. Duke (before they nearly lost tonight)
4. Michigan State
5. Michigan
The Cardinals checked in at No. 14 after their 5OT loss to Notre Dame. Here’s to hoping the Cats take out Florida this Tuesday and really bolster their resume heading into the home stretch of the SEC season.

In the very likely event that we don’t win the title this year, I would MUCH rather see Miami win it than IU, UL, Duke, or Florida

Wouldn’t it be just funny when/if UK finishes the season higher ranked then uofl. Lol
# 2 I agree.

A win at Florida would be very big for UK’s NCAA seating.

Izzo is just ridiculous. Seems like every year he somehow manages to have State in or near the top ten by the end of the year.

We can lose at Florida and one other game and still get a seed of 6. However, a win at Florida and Florida at home would get UK to 3 seed.Win out would get UK a 2. Go Big Blue. #5 seeding is the proper wording.

Nerlans is the only player qualified to commit. If all others stay we will win Number 9 in 2014. UK will be loaded.2 deep at every position and 3 in some cases.

There are a lot of teams out there that could be scary around tourney time but Miami is the one I have the most respect for at this point in the season.

Rankings are meaningless this year. When you see Ohio State at #10, at 16-7…after tonight’s loss…you know it’s all BS.

I can’t stand Sethy. Dookie punk. His daddy was a lawyer for the Clinton administration, but I’m sure he’s earned everything he has. (sarcasm) That being said, any mention of the Cats being ranked is welcome news, even from a pompous, privelidged punk a** like Laney’s boy.

Minnesota ranked at 18 and are like 2 and 6 in big ten play is what gets me.

My top 5
1 duke
2 Miami
3 Indiana
4 Michigan
5 Gonzaga (they don’t really play anybody but they have a close knit squad. Plus mark few can flat out coach.

12 – Minnesota is 5-6 in Big 10 play. Just sayin. Plus they have the #3 ranked schedule based on strength and are #10 in RPI.
