Auburn came out swinging (literally) against Kentucky this afternoon in Rupp Arena. The game was chippy at moments, including a first half Auburn ejection following a punch to Archie Goodwin’s back by Jordon Granger. Kentucky had trouble extending the lead until midway through the second half, struggling at times with Auburn’s zone. Willie Cauley-Stein and Jarrod Polson both provided a nice spark off the bench for the Cats. Cauley-Stein finished with 12 points, while Polson made some big plays in the first half when Goodwin and Harrow were struggling. Nerlens Noel didn’t notch a single block until the final minute of the game, but he finished with his third straight double-double (10 points and 12 rebounds). Kentucky was able to secure the double-digit win with a final score of 72-62.
With the win Kentucky moves into sole possession of 2nd place in the SEC behind Florida, who they will play on Tuesday.

We win a TKO and I’ll take it.
February 9th, 2013 at 6:23 pm
It’s actually a good sign that we can win an ugly game by double digits.
Earlier in the year we lose this game by 7.

Sorry I hit you Archie.

My first thought was in a game such as this with that many visible contact plays, –just thinki what many of us DIDN’T see. damn.

i’m sure this is a stupid question, but does anyone have a link to listen to Matt’s post-game show online?

Best win yet….look at them GUNS boys!!!

Tony Barber knew his only chance to win at Rupp was to instruct his team to play rough and give fouls. The bullshit got one of his players ejected and suspended for the next game. Great strategy taken from Ricky 5 Stacks at dumpster fire U down in Loserville.

#8 Thank you very much. Does he do a post-game show after every game? How long after the game does it start?
February 9th, 2013 at 6:34 pm
Auburn played like a team that lost by 20 pts at home, and knew they would not win playing straight up. So, they where going to foul as much as they could to keep it closer.

The game plan from Auburn “Thug” University: Shoot the three, play physical and double team Noel. Nothing more, nothing less. And they lost! So take your thug “as*” self back to Alabama. Nice to know we are 2-0 against you.
Would love to play you again in the SEC tourney.

This was a great win for uk. The only way for a team with limited talent to get an upset is to play physical and grind it out. That’s exactly what auburn did. They had a good game plan
February 9th, 2013 at 6:39 pm
Noel will have to spend some extra time in rehab after this game. If he hits his free throws,,,,some of that nonsense will stop.

It’s “whom they will play,” Ally. We are dealing with an object here, not a subject.
February 9th, 2013 at 6:54 pm
Yes, Jarrod should start over Harrow.
February 9th, 2013 at 7:02 pm
21) disagree
February 9th, 2013 at 7:08 pm
It’s so frustrating watching Goodwin fall down after every shot and lay up attempt. It keeps him from getting offensive rebounds and getting back on defense. Wish he would just stay on his feet, he would gain at least 3 rebounds and four points a game, and might be able to play transition defense

those idiot announcers ’bout drove me nuts
February 9th, 2013 at 8:33 pm
Polson is on the floor with Harrow; or without Harrow.
The point is we need Polson at guard.
We need Harrow at Guard.
But, we need one of ‘em to figure out who is going to be the leader.
Harrow acts like a sissy.
Polson fights.
My money is on…..
February 9th, 2013 at 8:38 pm
@24, we don’t need ladies announcing Kentucky Basketball games.
Agreeably: Insulting. Which could be attributed to unfamiliarity, and I’ll leave it at that.

Regarding sullivan’s obvious mugging of Kyle- very disappointed one of Kyle’s teammates was not up in sullivan’s face(no fight-don’t start one) just deliver the message that that kind of crap will not happen here. Saw apparently since there was no such message delivered sullivan put a cheap shot on Julius later on a screen- here again not suggesting fighting- but at least show some damn emotion.
