Someone once told me that you don’t know where you’re going, until you know where you’ve been, or something like that. So as we stand a little less than an hour from tip-off in Rupp Arena, it’s worth mentioning that 21 days ago the Wildcats went down to Auburn, Alabama and laid a 22-point beatdown on the Tigers. Kentucky had 5 players in double figures in the first matchup, with Kyle Wiltjer leading the charge with 17 points. Archie Goodwin, Alex Poythress, and Ryan Harrow all chipped in 12 points apiece, and Nerlens Noel continued his defensive domination of the conference with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 blocks to help the Wildcats pull away in the 2nd half a few days after John Calipari challenged his team to learn how to “Whomp” teams that are inferior to them.

Auburn was led in points (14) by the infamous Rob Chubb with 13th-year Senior Frankie Sullivan throwing in 12 points of his own (All kidding aside, Sullivan really did graduate from Auburn in December of 2011). Auburn was doomed by their outside shooting, or should I say their attempt at outside shooting, and finished the night a blistering 0 for 15 from behind the arc. Based on that shooting performance and in accordance with the Rupp Arena Theory of Random Hotstreaks, I suspect Auburn may go 40 of 40 from 3PT range today…
