Kentucky to Watch Two Recruits Tonight

by @ 2:30 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

According to Ryan Schmidt (coach at 22ft Academy), Kentucky will be at on hand tonight at Lees College in Jackson to watch MiKyle McIntosh and Jamar Ergas play ball. UK Assistant Coach Orlando Antigua had planned on watching McIntosh play earlier this week, but plans fell through for unknown reasons and instead, Kentucky staff will be in the house tonight.

Want some background on these somewhat under-the-radar recruits? Sure you do. MiKyle McIntosh (above, left) is a class of 2013 power forward from Canada. At 6-6 and 225 lbs, McIntosh has been called undersized for his position; however, he possess a strong guard skill set and is able to handle the ball and finish strong at the rim. ESPN has him labeled as a three-star recruit, but a strong performance during a Christmas showcase in Canada has sparked interest from Kansas, UCONN, Florida, Ohio State, and North Carolina. Class of 2015 small forward Jamar Ergas (above, right) stands 6-4, weighs 180, and hails from Durham, North Carolina. Future 150 rates him four stars and the #15 player for his position in the class of 2015.

Got plans tonight? No? Head on down to Lees College at 7 pm and watch a couple of potential future cats. Start a “Go Big Blue” chant if you’re feeling spunky.

  2. ConsernedDumbFan Says:

  3. Bobbum man Says:

    3* recruit? Next plz…..

  4. Brian Says:

    Left & Left? that helped!

  5. Basteballer Says:

Either we ain’t gettin’ someone we wanted or Cal wants a supporting role player for a few years.

  6. Dr Phil Says:

Wanna feel better about this years team – compare records over past 15 games:
13-2 Michigan; Kansas; Duke; Gonzaga; Arizona
    12-3 Indiana; Florida; KENTUCKY
    11-4 Ohio State
    10-5 Missouri

Realize there’s alot of apples and oranges there….but numbers are numbers….

  7. I don't get it Says:

6 that is some Not Jerry Tipton kind of statistics

  8. Big Blue 66 Says:

Cawood, I just wanna know how much you think ole Rihie will play tonight? good gawd people

  9. Big Blue 66 Says:

i wonder if the kid from Canada is a friend of Wiggins?…uuuummmmmmmmm and oh, that shouldve been Richie in the statement above

  10. Not Interested Says:

No way UK should ever take a 3* player. Its bad enough UK took that willis kid.

  11. Cal's Call Says:

    Ramel Bradley 3*
    Josh Harrelson 3*
    Stacey Poole 4*
    Eloy Vargas 4*

I’ll leave the ‘evaluation’ of who we ‘want’ up to the coaches…..not Rivals…..

  12. Ryan Says:

@11 all of those players you listed were pretty bad. Bradley and harrelson had their moments but lets no kid ourselves

  13. Jus Sayin Says:

MiKyle McIntosh is absolute beast. One of the most under the radar guys of all time. No hyperbole. I want this guy.

  14. Charlie Says:

Uhmmm dude on the left looks like Marlo Stanfield

  15. Lanter's cousin Says:

Mcintosh would be a huge boost for next years team who is going to be lacking a true PF if we get wiggins but no randle or Gordon. I’d take that situation, Harrison’s and young and wiggins playing on the court with either the ’13 classes #1 or #2 center in Marcus and Dakari. And developing elite forwards in Mikyle and Derek. With trustworthy Polson and Hood on the team too. Next year will be special, an undefeated three peat season usually is.

  16. Joey Says:

We are recruiting Marlo Stanfield now? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/40/The_Wire_Marlo.jpg

  17. Cal's Call Says:

Bradley > Miller any day as a 4-year player in Cal’s system…..100x as aggressive….i’ll take that on this years team and already be bookin’ a trip to Houston.
Not saying all 3*’s are ‘good’ or ‘great’, but 4 or 5 *’s aren’t all ‘good’ or ‘great’ either.
Just saying i’ll trust in Cal & staff….they seem do be doing a decent job….

  18. who cares Says:

what about the junior football players that are in town for UK junior day???

  19. MJ4UK Says:

#11) Harrelson was not a three star he was a JUCO transfer

  20. Cal's Call Says:

    http://rivals.yahoo.com/kentucky/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2008
Just goin’ by what Rivals had….

  21. SeoulCat Says:

This is not a good sign. I hope we are not in as bad a position to land one of Gordon, Wiggins, or Randle as this move would indicate. Sometimes players fly under the radar but actually look good (Montrezl Harrell, for example). After watching his YouTube highlights, I would say McIntosh absolutely looks like a three-star, undersized forward. He will ride the pine for four years if he comes to UK.

  22. bosshogg24 Says:

This is not a bad sign and UK is not in a bad position with any of the mentioned recruits! When UCLA & Indiana has already offered, you go and take a look!

  23. ushouldno Says:

How about E.J. Floreal as a 2013 walk on. Great athlete and possibly the fastest kid in the commonwealth.
