[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]

After being assigned back to the D-League at the beginning of the month, Terrence Jones has continued to show that he probably deserves to be brought back up to the real league.
This week’s re-auditioning for the NBA included a 27 point. 7 rebound performance that earned Terrence Jones the title of NBA D-League player of the week according to some website that actually keeps track of who is killing in the D-League. This outing took the Houston Rockets’ farm team, the Rio Grande VV, to victory against Maine RC.
Over the course of the year, TJ has only played in 12 NBA games (starting in none) for the Rockets, while averaging 3.1 PPG and 1.6 RPG. His game high of 12 points occured against the Jazz on November 19th. However, he has been on and off in the D-League since his last NBA appearance in December. In the NBADL, Jones is crushing with a 19.1 PPG and 9.1 RPG stat line. Pretty impressive, landing him at 7th best and 6th best in the D-League respectively.
On top of all that, Jones has been nominated to the D-League All-Star game to boot. The event takes place on February 16th.
So what’s holding TJ back from NBA production? Is he a perenniel NBADL guy like Erik Daniels? We all witnessed Jones jump back and forth between hot and cold in college, so it’s no surprise he hasn’t hit stride yet. Not to mention he is only 20 years old. Take a look at the video below to see his “Player of the Week” performance:

Another player that should not have left when he did. A number of players have left the team too early over the past few years. I wish people would get out of their ears so much. I think a lot of these guys would greatly benefit with another year in college and better prepare themselves for a career in the NBA as opposed to one contract and bounce back and forth from the D League.

IDK if it’s been mentioned yet on here, but Eric Bledsoe will be in the dunk contest this year.

It’s more because they have a ton of Power forwards, they have a log jam of them in Houston. Ppat, Jones, Montijunas, Morris. Blah blah blah. There are more than that to, they loaded up on them and they don’t need that many.

@2 Wrong. You do realize that the D-League is being utilized the way it should be more now than it was in the past? It’s not a death sentence to be sent to the “developmental” league. He’s getting paid and will be on an NBA roster one way or another soon. Why come back, develop with COLLEGE athletes and risk getting hurt? He was ready.

Nice crowd for a D-League game.

TJ is getting it done. Problem is, they are loaded at SF/PF. He needs to get traded or the need to unload someone to make some room. Personally, I fault the Rockets for drafting him. He’s NBA career is starting off just like PPat. I wish him the best.

Alex P will be following TJ next year in the D League.

He made the right decision to go. He got in the lottery. Problem is, Rockets were stupid and signed like 6-7 3/4 forwards. He will be fine and do well in the league once he signs with another team or Rockets don’t keep 6 guys in the same position.

It’s the Rockets fault for loading up their team with too many forwards; TJ would be killing it in the NBA on another team. Jodie Meeks is another cat on a team that’s not a good fit for him. He was killing it for the 76ers, but there’s no room for him with the stupid Lakers.

It’s a joke for jones not to be playing on the rockets. Besides Asik and Patterson he is the best 3-5 easily. Watching chandler parsons go 5 for 20 is getting old.

Terrance Jones is the only recent UK player from the Cal years in the D league. Can you see any of the current UK players going pro next year and Making it other than Nerlens Noel? They probably will go pro and to the DLeague. I wish they could go straight to the DLeague and we could sign some kids that wanted to play for the KENTUCKY on the front like Chuck Hayes and others..Guess thats a pipe dream for a few years…
February 7th, 2013 at 7:43 pm
Jones is NOT the only UK player from the Cal years sorry…

You people have a misconception about the D league. It’s actually doing its job now. It’s not a bad thing. It’s better than TJ, Lamb, Orton or whoever getting released. Or at best, sitting on the bench. These guys get to play and fine tune their games.

22) **crickets**
Anyways, let us not forget that this is the same organization who is still involved with Royce White. They seem to make solid decisions all around.

Go get ‘em, TJ! We believe in and love ya’.
February 7th, 2013 at 9:26 pm
Teague is the complete fool for leaving early. Why he isn’t in the D league is stunning. You guys realize that neither Lamb, Teague and TJ have played in fewer games in the nba than they would have games played this year at UK. Lamb isn’t even guaranteed. Stupid stupid stupid
February 7th, 2013 at 10:08 pm
Whatever happened to Orton? Serious question.
February 7th, 2013 at 10:49 pm
Would you rather be sitting on the bench the entire game OR would you rather be paid the same amount of money to get to play starters minutes and hone your skills. The D-League can be a good thing if you use the time there to improve.
