This dunk from James Young is enough to make a grown man cry

by @ 1:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

The young man you see soaring through the air in this video will be suiting up in Kentucky blue next season.

The scary part?

He’ll probably be coming off the bench.

Behind who? Who will start ahead of him?

  2. Boogie Fan Says:

Young is kind of the forgotten guy in this class, and he is a total baller.

  3. PittCat Says:

    Podcast?!?!?!?!?

  9. BigBlueWest Says:

The reaction of the home crowd behind him is hilarious. They all got up. Some hid their eyes after. You can tell they loved that dunk. Hahaha.

  10. Bulldawg Says:

#3 look under the Leach Report side and you will find today’s podcast there. Hope this helps. GBB!!!

The podcast is under the Leach Report section on the right: http://www.talkradio1080.com/cc-common/podcast.html

  12. Bunzz Says:

    That’s nasty…..

  13. Rockfield, KY Says:

I knew this kid was a scoring machine and could rebound well for his size, but had no idea he has hops like this. Next year will be absolutely insane. Our leading scorer next year will average around 12 pts and we’ll have 6 guys averaging over 10 again.

  14. boxscore Says:

love the dunking shot … did they win ?

  15. mr.balloon hands Says:

Wow. The only way James Young MIGHT not start next year is if Wiggins and/or Randle come to uk. He’s a little underrated imo

  16. mr.balloon hands Says:

I like how all the other teams fans lose their shi# over that dunk

  17. 2014 draft Says:

Young is projected to be drafted top 5 in the 2014 draft ahead of any of UKs other recruits. No way he is underrated or going to have someone start over him.

  18. big cat from the ROCK Says:

Totally agree with jw!!! I’ve thought for quite some time that Young reminds me of a young Tayshon. I usually try not to compare players, but his game really is similar. Of course him being a lefty dosent hurt.Wouldn’t count on him coming off the bench just yet.

  19. big cat from the ROCK Says:

AND he can flat out shoot the rock!!! Go big blue!!!

  20. JT Says:

Sorry guys but if Wiggins comes to UK, he will surely start over Young. He may not if Poythress comes back too. Aside from those 2 things he should start

  21. 3gogglesUK Says:

I seriously doubt James Young will be coming off the bench. I think Mr. Young will be starting. Nothing against this years team, but besides Nerlens I don’t foresee anyone else going pro. Which means unless the guys on the roster right now improve significantly I expect them to be on the bench….Then again D.Orton got drafted, and I would have told you that you were crazy if you thought Orton would get drafted in the first round, so who knows??

  22. STEVE! Says:

It’s possible 4 of our top 6 or 7 guys on this team could be coming off the bench next year. That should make practices ultra-competitive and the Craft Center the place to be. Could be Cal’s first team that can go two-deep at every position.

  23. MC Says:

Agree with most of you. Only way he doesn’t start is if we get Wiggins. If Randle signs he’ll play the 4 and the 5 spot will be up in the air, not the 3.

  24. ThatsAShame Says:

Start it a few seconds earlier and end it a few seconds earlier. (just sayn)

  25. NoJortsNoProblm Says:

Is that goal regulation size? @NoJortsNoProblm

  26. AWAT Says:

If you have seen any highlights of this kid, he gets BUCKETS!!! He will have a great opportunity to start.

  27. J in Orlando Says:

Next year we will have 8 starters lol

  28. bdown Says:

That would win dunk of the year in college

  29. Kiddekat Says:

Without Wiggins, Young starts. He is a deadly outside shooter and will fill the gap left by Mays. Wiltjer will be back, but he is a 4, not a 3. Plus, if we get Randle, which I think we will, Poythress will not start at the 4 over him. The center position will be WCS’s if he returns, or Johnson’s if he doesn’t. That’s how I see it, for what it’s worth. Johnson or WCS in center, Randle at the 4, Young at the 3, and the twins manning the two guard spots. What about starting 5 freshmen? The twins, Young, Randle and Johnson – could happen if no key players from this year’s team return.

  30. CatSinceBirth Says:

I could care less who comes back this guy deserves to start over them, as of this time. The present guys have dogged it this year, now they can share time on the court. With what may come back, and with what’s coming in, I hope Cal doesn’t play the same old plodding offense. Seems like our guys are hyped up, and play they’re best when we play up tempo. Cal talks about dribble drive all the time, but ninety five percent of our opponents do way more dribble driving that the Cats do. This group is a complete mystery to me. Should be top three in the country, but instead I’m not sure we’re deserving of our present ranking.

  31. Some Guy Says:

    30) I agree… This team is athletic but cant drive without going out of control. I think Cal has done the best he can to keep guys under control and still use their athletic ability. Its weird, how can a team be so athletic but such bad decision making skills. They dont move around a defender well or understand when to jump stop and pass to another person driving the lane.

  32. Mack Says:

That’s a bigboy dunk if he was in the gym alone.

  33. CatsfanMike Says:

This kid can flat out play. Ashame he is not on this year’s squad as he would start; we need his outside shot.He will be a key contributor to getting no.9 next year. Go Cats!!

  34. Actually. Says:

I wonder how many ppg we average next year.

  35. brain Says:

Like you have any idea who will be back next year let alone who will start on the wing.

  36. YoungGun Says:

Further proof you know nothing about basketball and even less about showing respect. James Young has as good of a chance as anyone to start next session. He is a more athletic/left handed version of Lamb. My money says he starts even if both Harrison’s do as well. These kids already have a bond and it will carry over on the court next season.

  37. Young@heart Says:

NO WAY that Young comes off the bench next year, as he’ll be THE leading scorer on the team!!!

  38. You Haven't Got A Clue Says:

James Young NOT starting… surely you jest? He will probably be the top scorer next year. Lol…

  39. what Says:

I think BBN needs to realize Wiggins is not coming to UK and it does not matter. We will still be the overwhelming favorite to win the title. We could not sign anyone else this year and it would not change how good we are going to be next year

  40. Schwinny Says:

James Young will more then likely start the only way he doesn’t as if we get Wiggins and if Archie decides to come back but I don’t beleive either happens. Whoever said Young is a 4 there crazy he might be able to play it in highschool but who can’t play it if your 6’5 in highschool… The only reason were out of control half the time is cause if you watch Archie he has no left hand watch him every time he shoots a layup it’s with his right hand and if you watch Alex he can’t dribble like MKG and Darius could last year and that hurts us he always has to find a guard to bring the ball up the court. Just watch Archie can do them things in highschool every time he goes to the rack it’s with his right hand and hes always looking at his shoes when hes dribbling, but i love my cats so I’m not hating.

  41. snarkster Says:

    Day-um!

  42. Bleed blue Says:

Young will be a starter because poythress and Noel and Goodwin will be goin to the nba so tethered will be room for him at small foward
