Apparently there is a surprise visitor in Louisville right now. News is popping out that Top-5 player in 2014 PF Trey Lyles is at the Yum! Center today for the Cards game vs. Marquette. And by ‘game’, I mean he clearly was just making a pit-stop of some of the Colonel’s secret blend of herbs and spices before he comes down to Lexington for his college career eventually.
Right?
Hope so. Lyles is a former Indiana commit who de-pledged a while back. UK was the immediate leader, and then the recruiting news circus has mentioned him leaning several directions. His trip to see the Cards is just another notch in the Lyles narrative. I still believe the story ends with him in Lexington, but who knows. He’s a top talent. He dropped 22 points, 20 rebounds, and 6 assists last night as his Arsenal Tech team took on Warren Central. However, several people at the game said WC’s Devin Davis outplayed Lyles. Interesting.

Devin Davis = Hoosier. Dan Dakich already spilled the beans that Lyles was on UK’s campus during a dead period, which is an NCAA violation. Not surprising though when you see who coaches UK. Expect the NCAA to drop the hammer if Lyles commits to UK (from what sources tell me).

Silly Hoosier. It is only a violation if there is contact with the coaching staff, and I doubt this “source” saw Lyle and Cal splitting Orange Leaf. A player can visit a campus whenever he wants.

1. You could get Davis…if we don’t want him. Stick to paying the Indiana Elite AAU program to send guys your way. Maybe bring a few more kids over from Africa and threaten deportation if they don’t choose IU. Tom Crean, doing things the right way!!

He went for 22 and 20 with 6 assists…If he was outplayed, it must have been one heck of a performancee.

As to more immediate issues we have 5 more spots so are we a C, WR (Timmons) away when we have the ball, and a DT, LB, and Hatcher/Smith when we don’t?

Didn’t Lyles already cut UK from his list?

Devin Davis had 25 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks…he played a great game but in my opinion did not outplay Trey. (I was at the game…I run the Indiana Recruiting Guide a scouting service in Indiana http://www.indianarecruitingguide.com). Trey had just 5 points and 6 rebounds at half time…but then didn’t miss a shot from the middle of the 3rd quarter all the way through overtime. He also had a game saving block at the end of regulation. Davis was great, but Trey was better.

Also, I believe Trey to be a heavy UK lean. Was wearing a UK hat yesterday too!

Word on the street is his dad wants a job like Lousiville offered Teague’s coach before he decommitted. Lets hope Cal and Wes can sway him though.
