According to the Charlotte Bobcats’ press release, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has been diagnosed with a concussion. The x-rays and CT scans both came up negative and no additional head or neck injuries were found. He will remain in the hospital overnight. After a long night filled with worries about his well-being following a nasty collision with a teammate, it’s certainly a relief to hear that Kidd-Gilchrist will be okay. The amount of prayers and well-wishes to MKG from Big Blue Nation and other athletes from college basketball and the NBA shows just how well-liked and respected MKG is…

It’s OK. I always said that boy was hardheaded.
February 3rd, 2013 at 12:56 am
Thx for this update, Ally. Ok, that is a whole lot better than first thought after seeing him down.
1–I hear ya haha
February 3rd, 2013 at 12:57 am
RIP MKG
February 3rd, 2013 at 12:59 am
Glad that it sounds like MKG is going to be ok. Honestly got sick tonight when I saw the picture of him on the stretcher.
February 3rd, 2013 at 12:59 am
3- That is a bit morbid.
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:00 am
4 (hoss), thx to you as well for those updates earlier bud.
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:06 am
6. Thank you. Was just helping pass along the info. Was on TeamNoSleep until I read what was going on.
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:11 am
Concussions are a big deal
Serious brain damage
Especially if they keep him over night…
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:15 am
Thank the Lord that he is okay! Once a Cat always a Cat!
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:18 am
#9 yeah, because “the lord” had a lot to do with that!
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:22 am
MKG has quickly become a leader in the community. His numbers are down for the other Cats, but he is making us all proud with his work here.
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:23 am
#10: figure of speech you mouth breather.
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:31 am
11…absolutely
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:32 am
Thoughts and prayers go out to Gillie. Concussions are serious business. Ariana has been out for a month with one too. It’s the headaches and other side effects that aren’t on a cat scan that affect an athlete long after the diagnosis.
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:32 am
MGK is a liar!!! (He said he was coming back to UK for his So. year) Looks like karma finally got up with him!!!
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:35 am
I am worried about MKG,
But we can do nothing but pray.
Can we discuss our present team?
These guys seem to have had multiple
concussions…
This is the dumbest bunch ever.
No wonder Cal screams the entire game.
I think we need to just give up and pray…
Little hope for these Cats, especially if
we don’t have a point like Brandon Knight…
February 3rd, 2013 at 1:57 am
To fansince1938: R u insane? He is and was what made last years team so great. You can’t hate on em’ for wanting better for his family and himself. His legend will forever live in Rupp and the banner is there to prove it! Stop hatin

15 – They say when you get dementia you often get mean for no reason whatsoever. Perhaps you should have a full workup to look for the onset of dementia because that was a very hateful, cruel thing to say about one of the very finest young men to ever put on a Kentucky uniform.
February 3rd, 2013 at 2:14 am
Don’t get much mileage out of 86proof but I’m still runnin’, albeit like a Model T , but 3,15,16 and several others need some real work….professional work… 15? you can go ahead and die….I’m afraid God will not show up in time.
February 3rd, 2013 at 2:53 am
#thankgoodness
February 3rd, 2013 at 2:56 am
Now that we can breathe a small sigh of relief with MKG (although as #8 is right and we need to keep him in our thoughts as this is still not over)…
Don’t forget to vote for Coach Cal at:
http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/infiniti/2013/
By the way…how the Mizzu coach maintains a 25% vote is beyond me?? Anyway…
February 3rd, 2013 at 5:41 am
15 – You have authored the most wildly inappropriate post I think I have ever seen! I think you would be better served praying kharma doesn’t “get up with you!”
February 3rd, 2013 at 6:03 am
It’s great news Michael will be alright. BBN loves MKG! Get better.
February 3rd, 2013 at 6:43 am
I realize that fair amount of statements made here are by trolls from other schools. However, there is no doubt that some are made by actual fans of our Wildcats. Some people think that these young men exist only to win games for UK and to please UK fans. This simply isn’t the truth. We are very lucky that these players find such an atmosphere at UK that they want to be a part of it even after moving on to the league. For many to only be he here one year and still love the place and call it home, speaks volumes of the coaching staff and fans. I am sure glad that they can sift through ignorance of some and know that Big Blue Nation as a majority, support them and wish them the best. There are many people that post here that are twice MKG’s age that don’t have the class and integrity that he has. Grow up.
February 3rd, 2013 at 7:14 am
Prayers for this fine young man’s swift and complete recovery. Heart of a lion.
February 3rd, 2013 at 7:16 am
Rest and get better MKG, all of BBN love and respect you.
As for # 15, you stupid bastard, what if someone in your family could make enough money to help out the whole family, especially his Mom, would you wish the same thing? Get some medicine and find another website to lurk on you idiot, you make me sick.
February 3rd, 2013 at 7:18 am
Well said # 19!!!!
February 3rd, 2013 at 7:43 am
Glad he’ll be okay. The hit itself didn’t look that bad. Kind of like the Dale Earnhardt crash that killed him. You watched it and thought “I’ve seen him take a hell of a lot worse than that.” But Gillie has always played balls to the wall and been susceptible to injuries like this one. It’s just who he is.
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:04 am
Great news! Keep healing MKG! ! My all time favorite player.
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:06 am
There is a pxr of mkg from last year posited in a separate thread. The picture sums up why fans so much supported him and last years team. They played with passion and enjoyed playing at such a high level. This is exactly what this years team lacks. Maybe this years group should be called The Individuals. They don’t seem to get what it takes at this point or what could be theirs collectively. Tell me this….if poythress Goodwin or harrow leave after the season will anyone have an interest in following them or consider them great contibutors to the Program?
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:25 am
Happy MKG is going to be ok. It didn’t look good last night. Oh, before I forget, Harrow stinks & Polson should start.
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:46 am
Get well soon MKG! You are loved and missed by the BBN!
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:53 am
I know this is off topic, but has everyone seen the video espn has posted to its main page saying nerlens “purposely trips A&M player”? First off, I don’t even see him make contact, much less determine intent. But even if he did trip him, since when does espn pull clips like this out of games?
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:56 am
When I read some of the nasty, negative comments from some of the people on this site I wonder what the families of those people have to endure. There are some folks who need hard core counseling.
February 3rd, 2013 at 8:56 am
By that I mean how many times in a game does something like this happen and a video giluy at espn doesn’t cut an edit it to put on their main site?
February 3rd, 2013 at 9:01 am
I wish the moderators would come on here and flush out some of the turds who post on these forums. I feel that the statements MKG made last year about coming back came from the heart, but logic had to overrule what he wanted to do. As #24 stated so well, he was thinking about his family when he decided to go pro. After all, he had already ascended as far as you can go in CBB, and imagine if he had come back for another year at UK and something like this had happened? I don’t blame these kids one bit. Very few (if any) of the people who post on these forums can relate to the backgrounds that a lot of these players come from. If you have never been poor, you just can’t relate. It is pretty pathetic to see some of the comments that are posted by jealous fans of lesser programs who attempt to make BBN look bad.
February 3rd, 2013 at 9:38 am
What I would like discussed is how bad the officiating was last night. A&M was allowed to push, grab, etc. The calls/ no calls allowed them to stay in the game.
February 3rd, 2013 at 10:03 am
37, I agree with you on the rough play that is being allowed in college BB – not just against UK, but in ALL of college BB. It is getting out of hand, and IMO it hurts the sport. It is fine to allow some bumping to go on inside when players are trying to establish position, but when a player has the ball in his hands, all the bumping and reach-ins that are allowed are ridiculous. Then you see fouls called on players who are contesting a shot while standing flat-footed with their hands up in the air, and the contact is initiated by the offensive player. However, the genie is out of the bottle now – to clean it up will result in a lot of low scoring foul-fest type games, that will be had for the players to watch. However, something needs to be done, or you are going to see more and more injuries occurring.
February 3rd, 2013 at 10:04 am
Get well Michael. BBN is praying for you
February 3rd, 2013 at 11:34 am
Wishing you a speedy recovery MKG!
February 3rd, 2013 at 11:54 am
Hey dont sweat #15, its obvious that he or she is a troll. Must be a UL or IU fan, no member of the BBN would ever wish ill on one of OUR guys.
February 3rd, 2013 at 11:58 am
#34 when I read the negative stuff I know its from a troll and ignore it. The “Go Big Blue” chant is heard in every gym we play in so you know its not members of the BBN posting mean, stupid, or hateful things. My guess is its pissed of fans from other school sites, and we all know who they are lol.
February 3rd, 2013 at 12:01 pm
your right #38, have you looked at the pads and armor the kids are wearing these days ? They can say the players are bigger and faster, well then make the court longer, wider, and stretch out the lane, move the ft line back a foot, move the 3 point line back a foot, raise the rim a foot. Let the game evolve with the players, and enforce the rules.
February 3rd, 2013 at 2:52 pm
BBN since 1938….if u aren’t a troll–and actually do follow UK–go follow someone else you jerk. You obviously need to get a grip…go root for somebody else–BBN doesn’t need ignorant morons like you. Oh and if you are a troll–got bad news for you–IU will NOT win the title this year bc they play NO defense, and UL won’t win because if RSmith has one bad shooting night from the round of 32 on they are toast.
