I get some station out of Iowa broadcasting the UNI-Iowa State game tonight, but can’t pick up either of those stations out of Louisville, here in Lexington. Figures.

Called into the show tonight and it was actually pretty cool. I wish I could hear what was being said on the broadcast before I call in. Oh Well. Can’t wait to meet you guys at THE Hoopfest, Tonight, THE Ohio State loses to UNC in an emotional battle, 65-60 which drains the Young Tar-Heels and gives UK a better chance come Saturday. Saturday’s score, UK 69 - UNC 63. Tubby out-coaches Roy Williams and silences the critics… well about 50% of them any way, for about 2 days.

We are going to get our asses kicked by UNC, if Stevenson doesn’t play against Hansborough.

I really think the only way we beat UNC is IF they are physically and emotionally drained after this GREAT game with Ohio State.
Even then, we would have to play better than we have so far (except last 30 min of UCLA)…..

UNC v. Ohio State…. incredible game. Equal to if not better than the KU v. Florida game.
I hope Tubby passes out about 3 red bulls per a person before we play the game on Saturday. These guys are moving, shooting, and defending in almost top caliber. And trust me I HATE saying that. My only hope, is that statistically UNC will have to come down some when they play Kentucky. Surely they cant stay this hot for four more days. My roommate went to UNC so I pray that we dont get blown out the water. Is it too much to ask for Christmas to come early….
Anyhow, GO CATS!!! Better practice hard, especially on D.

We’ll have no problem with UNC. Sure they have the athletes and great basketball players, but we have players that fit Tubby’s system and their rankings don’t matter. Tubby is a top five coach and he use his incredible knowledge of x’s and o’s to exploit UNC’s weaknesses and our strengths.

What the heck do you want to learn about the fans? You should be able to tell by examining UK message boards and a game in Rupp Arena over the span of a week.
Let me educate you Clyde:
UK fans are very loyal, they travel well and always show up. Overall they are very old, and they are very quiet. The fans tend to be fair-weathered (they are extremely optimistic when things go well, and believe the sky is falling when things aren’t as good (like when we lose to 2 top 15 teams on back to back days)) They have extremely high expectations and could be considered fanatical! Of course this is just a general observation.

How is it that Ohio State has landed the top 2 or 3 recruits in the nation 2 years in a row?? It just does not pass the smell test to me.
They should breeze though the big 10 though, especially after they get Oden back from injury.

I think you nailed it Drake. I wish we were better than fair-weathered though…. For me, even when we are down by 20, I still think we can come back. I turned off the Mardi Gras Miracle game 3 minutes into the second half…. when they were down by 25 or so, and I refuse to say we’re out of it because of that game, no matter how far we are down by. Started fairweather, ended loyal. Or at least I like to think so.

It just gets under my skin when a team doesnt play much talent during the year. It makes it feel so speculative instead of proven. Cant wait to see the Nevada V. Gonzaga game then. Thanks Matt. Did not know that, his stats are pretty badass.

Who would have dreamed by saturday,we have already played 3 top 10 teams- 2 being top 5. 7 games 3 top 10. Thats scary. But hey, the Zags do it too but they win. Hopefully we can pull one off and I hope the Zags beat DUke.

That was a good game last night, but man, UNC does not defend the 3 at all. It’s like they don’t even care. I guess when you have the firepower you just pack it in the post and let anybody shoot long jumpers, and wait for them to start missing. If there was ever a time when our guys need to have the shooting night of their lives, then it is probably in March, but Sat. wouldn’t be a bad time either. The scary thing about that game is that you can tell tniether UNC or OSU are anywhere near their potential. This is looking like it will be a great basketball season. Top teams taking pretty much all comers (except duke of course), mid majors upsetting people left and right and the hope that at some point during the year Woo and Coury will man the post together. I love college basketball.

Nathan, I agree. The influx into the college game of several of these kids who otherwise would be in the NBA right now has re-energized college basketball this year. And it’s a pretty amazing sight to see two phenomenally talented teams like OSU-UNC go head to head with that many lotto picks and first rounders. I also agree that neither of these teams are anywhere close to their potential, versus a Florida-type team that has maximized its upside (how much more “upside” can you get if you win the NCAA tournament?).
