So, Texas A&M, What Have You Been Doing?

by @ 5:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

We’ve already done a Know Your Enemy on Texas A&M. We went through the location, the alumni, and the history (etc.). It was all for nothing. Apparently all we needed to know was that Elston Turner was going to blackout during warm ups and not wake up until after the game. As one of my friends noted on twitter earlier, UK has outscored their opponents in 14 out of 20 games this year. If they can make it 15 out of 21 Saturday in College Station, that’ll mean they won and big blue nation will be a happy people.

Today, let’s take a look at what has happened with the Aggies since they marched into Rupp and made us all yell at our televisions (or televisions belonging to the bar in which we were watching).

We’ll do this with all the teams we are playing for a second time. It’s a little feature that I’m going to call “So, Texas A&M (or insert team we are playing for the second time), What Have You Been Doing?”

Since Texas A&M Elston Turner rolled into Rupp and stunned us three weeks ago, they have struggled.

Take a look at their results:

*Florida (home)- LOSS. The game after beating Kentucky, Texas A&M returned home to play in a nationally televised game against the undisputed conference front runner. They were embarrassed 68-47, but it was a win for ESPN because they got to interview Heisman winner Johnny Manziel at halftime and talk to him about both his twitter account and scooby doo costume. Elston Turner followed his 40 point performance in Rupp by scoring 4 points on 1/10 shooting.

*Alabama (away)- LOSS. As Kentucky found out, Alabama is a tough team to play. Especially on their home court. They could have just as easily won this game, as Alabama won on a last second shot by Trevor Lacey (displayed below).

*LSU (away)- LOSS. Despite the 58-54 loss, Elston Turner delivered another scorching performance. 5 points on 1-7 shooting. The Aggies committed 24 turnovers and gave up 8 steals to Anthony Hickey alone. This was their 3rd straight loss after beating UK. For info on their fourth straight loss following the win at Kentucky, look below.

*Georgia (home)- LOSS. If you are a team who wants to be taken seriously after beating Kentucky but losing three straight thereafter, you have to take care of business when Georgia comes to play you at home. With offense to Texas A&M, they are GEORGIA! They came into this game 7-11 (1-4) and beat you 59-52 in College Station.

*Mississippi State (away)- WIN. When Mississippi State welcomed Texas A&M to Starkville, they too were on a 4 game losing streak. SOMETHING HAD TO GIVE. In a game that I imagine was attended by only family and girlfriends of the players, Texas A&M won 55-49 in overtime. Not exactly an instant classic. Elston Turner shot the ball 13 times and scored 11 points. That, my friends, is what we call “not good.”

Let’s say you’re dating a good looking girl. Let’s say she broke up with you and hurt you three weeks ago. Now, let’s say it’s three weeks later. Let’s say she’s gained 10 pounds. Let’s say you’ve found a new girl who is even prettier than her. And, just for fun, let’s say you and new girl run into her at Orange Leaf and you ask her “So, old girlfriend, what have you been doing?”

The way she would feel is similar to how Texas A&M feels as we say “So, Texas A&M, What Have You Been Doing?”

Great observation by your friend on twitter. “What’s the game plan, coach?” “If we score more points than them, we’ll be alright.”

This is not uncommon for teams that have beaten UK. They give their all to beat UK, then go on a multi-game losing streak.

The next time you think about running a picture of Gillispie, run this one instead.
