I’ll give you a hint: It’s not Coach Cal or Ramon Harris.
It’s the Indiana player, Devan Dumes.
Dumes was booked last week on felony charges of criminal recklessness and carrying a handgun without a license after he opened fire on a home with his brother and one-year-old nephew inside. He surrendered to police today on new charges of attempted murder, attempted carjacking and possession of a handgun without a license.
Dumes shot up his brother’s home after an altercation involving the keys to a recording studio. Again, his one-year-old nephew was inside. That’s a child, his own flesh and blood.
You may recognize him as the guy who scored five points in 20 minutes against Kentucky in John Calipari’s first season.

More importantly, WHO “made [Hatcher] flip before”… exactly?
January 30th, 2013 at 5:06 pm
“he opened fire on a home with his brother and one-year-old nephew inside.” Or as a Tennessee football player would call it, “Friday night.”

“the right way”

Bud Mackey- esque?

Every program has people who have come through who fail to represent the school in a honorable fashion. As a UK fan, I’ve been embarrassed by a number of players, and I dare say that most fans of most schools can say the same thing. There are some programs that seem a bit more notorious than others such as Miami and to some extent, Tennessee, but we should all be careful about pointing fingers.

Old School and Jerry Tipton do each other in the butt.

When there’s no false-hope-recruiting stories… there’s only one place to go…
Rivals that Calpari decided to hide from year because he thought he could get thru the year not losing in Rupp Arena.
Geez, no attention and love for all things Louisville Cardinals today…

Come on in, the water’s fine…
January 30th, 2013 at 5:54 pm
#10 what site are you on again? False hope…you seen the recruiting rankings for next year? Little brothers can be so cute.
#11…was Mackey in that same class?
January 30th, 2013 at 6:05 pm
He’s named Dumbass for a reason.
January 30th, 2013 at 6:12 pm
Does anyone know if he used a semi auto weapon or a registered fire ARM.
January 30th, 2013 at 6:20 pm

January 30th, 2013 at 6:43 pm
We need gun control to stop these maniacs from shooting up their own flesh and blood’s houses.
January 30th, 2013 at 7:08 pm
I sure hope gun control will stop this. Or new taxes. We need more laws to stop these people.
January 30th, 2013 at 7:35 pm
And Bob Knight criticizes our guys for leaving school early, could be worse Bobby we could be IU players with a future in Shawshank
January 30th, 2013 at 7:49 pm
You’re a pitiful hypocrite, Franklin. You act you like you care about the child allegedly involved, but the whole tone of your post is that of gossiping junior high mean girl. You simply want to score a point against a rival and this horrible situation in your view is a good time to do that. Pathetic.
January 30th, 2013 at 7:51 pm
And for that matter when we have Richie Farmer, Jules Camara and Rekalin Sims as former Wildcats, we don’t have much room to talk. So grow up and learn some tact.
January 30th, 2013 at 8:32 pm
If we just allowed people to carry surface-to-surface missiles, this could have been prevented.
January 30th, 2013 at 8:49 pm
If this were just a story reporting the facts of the allegations, I could understand. If there were any words offering prayers or consolation rather than smarmy indignation, I might understand. But this is a gloating, disgustingly biased, ugly, hateful, sickeningly written piece that takes an opportunity to revel in a player for a rival team’s downfall at the expense of a doubtless shell shocked child. If you are claiming that Indiana basketball somehow caused or supports this criminal behavior, then I hope someone can bring you up on charges of libel. You make me sick, and you’re part of the reason why people all across the country dislike a portion of the VVN.
January 30th, 2013 at 8:55 pm
Reasonable Human, the reason people across the country dislikes VVN:)as you say, is because BBN is so passionate about the all time winning program in the country. Its also called Jealousy. Nice try though.
January 30th, 2013 at 9:40 pm
17-So are you saying this is all the Democrats fault? Must have forgotten your meds today.
January 30th, 2013 at 10:09 pm
@BBN (the commenter not the bbn) I am a U.K. fan, you idiot. Also, your syntax is terrible. People are jealous of Kentucky basketball. But there is also a portion of informed fans who dislike KY hoops because of folks who make ignorant, poorly written statements like you just did. This article is beyond the pale of friendly rivalry or good natured rivving. It is mean and senseless.
January 30th, 2013 at 11:06 pm
@25. It was not mean at all. What the jackass that committed the crime did was mean and senseless. Did you see all the crap spewed by Indiana fans on here whenever Michael Porter was arrested?
January 30th, 2013 at 11:16 pm
Wow, some “fans” are really blowing this way out of proportion. Libel? Really? Pathetic hypocrit(e)? Really?
Drew, ignore these “fans”. Their vicious attacks are without merit. It wouldn’t surprise me if Joel Pett had actually penned some of these comments.
January 31st, 2013 at 12:51 am
Drew, there is nothing wrong with this post. Some “fans” are overreacting big time. IU is already nationally known as a violent and unethical school. Bob Knight abused his players. Kelvin Sampson and IU were on probation. UK fans got “trampled” and Matt saved a kids life. Then you get this type of behavior from a former player. I know IU does not condone this behavior because it in no way, shape, or form helps them win games.

you are the most pathetic sports writer in America, Drew.
