[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]
Just fifteen days ago OL/DL recruit Lovell Peterson tweeted that he was enamored with what Kentucky had to offer. Apparently, two weeks later, things have changed. KSR has learned that Peterson will decommit from Kentucky and commit to Grand Valley State University where he will play football and run track.
Peterson played both ways at Wayne High School (OH) but was expected to play exclusively at defensive tackle for Kentucky.
Oh well. Happy trails.

Keep in touch with this kid, because he’s going to regret that decision eventually, it’s only a matter of time.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:07 pm
I wouldn’t sweat this.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:07 pm
What an amazingly stupid decision. Make the chick come to UK instead of ruining your future.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:09 pm
Take this post down. Matt confirmed the kid tweeted it is not fire
January 26th, 2013 at 8:10 pm
Grades I bet. Hope this isn’t running rampant through our “awesome” recruiting class. That is, getting great players that can’t academically qualify elsewhere, or here.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:10 pm
Is this bad new or is this good news??? Or is better talent is committinmg???
January 26th, 2013 at 8:16 pm
I really like Peterson. Think he could be a really good DT in Stoops’ scheme. It hurts, but it won’t hurt as much if we can land Maurice Swain, who is just as talented.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:17 pm
Run track? He’s an offensive lineman.. Right?
January 26th, 2013 at 8:21 pm
Please research before writing an article. He did not qualify academically.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:21 pm
Hopefully the days of fighting Grand Valley St. for recruits are over! Stoops is going to recruit with the best of them! This class is going to be one of the best in Kentucky history in Stoops first year. IN STOOPS WE TRUST! GO CATS!!
January 26th, 2013 at 8:23 pm
Lovell peterson @Lovellp1994
I became a gvsu laker yesterday. #tracklife #gvsu
January 26th, 2013 at 8:23 pm
@ 4. ? What does that mean? “The kid that tweeted it is not fire”?
January 26th, 2013 at 8:26 pm
He did not qualify academically… and he also was going to be used as an o-lineman… there actually are better names on the board that stoops is in with…. no big deal
January 26th, 2013 at 8:27 pm
If he is gone, it sounds like grades. Hate it. He was one I was pretty excited over! Need position and from Ohio. Hope he re-thinks this if it really is over a girl.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:34 pm
Hey G-unit, or anyone that knows, has anyone commited this weekend? Thanks
January 26th, 2013 at 8:36 pm
I live near GVS. It’s awesome… that is if you think Detroit is awesome. I don’t like Detroit.. I think it sucks…
January 26th, 2013 at 8:38 pm
#8… You don’t need to be fast to do shot put, discus, or hammer throw. I think he will be more involved in the field part of the track & filed.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:39 pm
The curriculum must be out of his league at UK, tough taking those SPECIAL courses for the slow ones!
January 26th, 2013 at 8:39 pm
@ 15 Heard Hearns did. Mcwilson maybe a silent.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:41 pm
Yeah when they can’t pass our classes we usually ship them Louisville this is a new development. UofL Home of the ABC count to 3 entrance exam.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:44 pm
And we usually send the ones that can’t pass ours to UNC.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:48 pm
BBK says Hearns & McClinton are a done deal.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:50 pm
yeah, i heard hearns and mcwilson both committed today, too … waiting for a ksr post, though
January 26th, 2013 at 8:52 pm
Oh I remember when this website announced his commitment. It said he was part of the Ohio pipeline. Is that the same Ohio pipeline that thinks Kentucky is full of a bunch of hillbillies that can barely win games over Division 2 opponents? Because that’s the Ohio pipeline I know. What does that say when this guy would rather go to an NAIA school than Kentucky? I’ll say it again, people in Ohio make fun of Kentucky on a regular basis, they even nickname their crappy cities by putting “-tucky” on the ends of their names. Good luck getting those Ohio recruits, other than those that have no other choice.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:56 pm
We reported our cheating ways so people would believe us when we said we stopped it. Luckily for us Hurtt and the guys he brought into Lhole are going to get all of the attention from the NCAA in this part of the country for awhile.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:57 pm
Yearns is on the fence acedemically too…. Hope to good ess he qualifies. Heard his issue is more just finishing class work , is that true? McWilson is huge! If we can get Timmons and Hatcher on board!
January 26th, 2013 at 9:06 pm
25. Do you forget that Kentucky is one of 5 schools to ever get the NCAA death penalty for cheating. Remember that hillbilly, when you want to talk about cheating.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:06 pm
@21 more like Jefferson Community College….
January 26th, 2013 at 9:13 pm
I’m almost certain that it is a grades issue. Probably more work than was possible for him to accomplish and took the best way out. Take an offer from a school with less strict policies.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:16 pm
STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSS!
January 26th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
@27. The only difference from ANY major college in football and basketball is 100% all on if the NCAA wants to nail you. I doubt if there are any exceptions. There would be very few at the most. The NCAA turns a blind eye so many times its not even funny. They could have nailed everyone by now if they wanted to. The “clean” ones are probably the most corrupt. Like Wooden? NCAA is a joke.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:24 pm
Why is it that when my friends and I meet some kids from Ohio, and there are plenty attending uk, we leave thinking wow what turds. And this is more often than not.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
1952 was a long time ago. Keep trying troll.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:30 pm
If it was us it would have been a slap on the wrist. And @27 I wish we could be on par with hillbillies. A hillbilly will kick your @ss and laugh about it. All we do is stick our winkies in one and then have a winky stuck in ours. Thank god Ohio’s liberal. If we were in Kentucky what we do would be against the law.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:37 pm
Does anyone here really think Stoops won’t replace this kid with an equal talent? Heck, Stoops might already have and invited Lovell to write his own decommit story.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:38 pm
@19,22,23,26, thanks!!!
January 26th, 2013 at 9:55 pm
Don’t think McWilson committed. He tweated “Pellini or Stoops” “SEC or Big12″ and “No commit yet” on his twitter within the last 90 minutes.
Still looking good, though.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:57 pm
@24 all cities in must end in “tucky” since they are all crappy, not one worth shitting on which is why birds there fly upside down.
January 26th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
Who has a bigger front butt, Stoops or Coach Cow?
January 26th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
Sorry guys, it’s me Jared Sullinger. I’m still pissed about that ball print Jorts left on my chest when you all booted us from the tourney, so here I am trying to talk football smack.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
And even tho I’m a Card fan, I hate Louisville bc it’s the fattest city in KY and one of the unhealthiest cities in the country. Oh and my butt hurts from 3 losses in a row.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:15 pm
UofL fans posting here is the greatest thing I’ve seen in a while… the fear, hatred, and utter jealousy we have instilled in these complete losers is amazing and beautiful, and I love it. Sad to hear of LP’s decision, I was really looking forward to him becoming a CAT. I wish the guy the best of luck and if he did choose to go to a school because of track, a girl, or both, good for him… life is bigger than one decision. By the way UofL dropped another, so have another, and EF lil brother.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:17 pm
41) Not a Louisville fan hillbilly. Don’t live in louisville and don’t care anything about their city.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:19 pm
42) Why would any other fanbase be “jealous” of your terrible football program. Your football program is a joke.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:31 pm
One thing is sure. It may not be jealousy, yet, but I can smell the worry. That’s just a step above fear. That’ll come next year. There’s a lot of people noticing what’s going on in Lexington right now.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:32 pm
So why is this board so popular with fans of other schools? I’m sure UL, Alabama, Florida, OSU all have message boards to brag about how great they are, don’t they??
January 26th, 2013 at 10:32 pm
Gator lol your program hired the guy UK fired, so not sure why you’re saying anything about our football program. You wanted a guy that even we didn’t want
January 26th, 2013 at 10:43 pm
47) I know the real reason necks like you don’t like Joker or Tubby. You rubes don’t take too kindly to black folk.
January 26th, 2013 at 10:46 pm
48 How’s my ass taste?
January 26th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
Hey hillbillies, any of you guys single? I’m looking for a good man with no teeth. Hot hillbillies only!
January 26th, 2013 at 10:50 pm
50 Pick me, pick me! Everyone knows FL is as red neck as it gets! And they don’t call us Gaytors for nothing *wink wink* I promise I’m cute, my mommy tells me so every day!
January 26th, 2013 at 10:59 pm
48. Or it could be Joker took us to 2-10. Even we can’t get behind that, and we have fairly realistic football standards. A 40-0 blowout at home to Vandy will kill anyone’s career.
January 26th, 2013 at 11:37 pm
Only a racist would make a coach dragging a program to a new low and getting fired a race issue. 48 we know it’s a Gainsville thing. You all think if non whites don’t play sports they’re all criminals.
January 27th, 2013 at 12:17 am
The posters on this blog are dragging the site to the gutter. Matt, you should be ashamed of yourself for not taking some of these people to the wood shed. I am disappointed.
January 27th, 2013 at 6:41 am
The 4 most hated people by Kentuckians
1. Barack Obama
2. Tubby Smith
3. Joker Phillips
4. Louis Coleman *Yes, I’m aware that he’s dead.
January 27th, 2013 at 7:29 am
1 Rick Pitino
2 Charlie Strong…Florida Agrees
3 Clint Hurtt unless he tanks Louisville then he’ll be most loved…..Florida Agrees
4 Christian Laettner
Don’t hate Tubby wish him the best. People have no clue how many times Kentuckians get excited over how he’s doing else where. Problem being he does the same thing there. Gets something going then lets it slip.
Didn’t hate Joker till he started lying on the recruiting trail and started going after guys he didn’t even give a chance till Stoops did.
January 27th, 2013 at 7:34 am
5. Claude Bassett
6. Bob Knight
7. Dicky V….but so does everyone out of the state of North Carolina.
8. Any Democrat that runs for President…..but that’s the bible belt.
January 27th, 2013 at 7:38 am
Bad thing is depending on how old they are Bob Knight and Laettner may be 1 and 2
January 27th, 2013 at 9:23 am
56 What are these lies that Joker told and recruits is he going after that he didn’t give chance?
January 27th, 2013 at 10:27 am
Don’t know the lies. Going by what parents of these kids have said. It has been several kids. Some in state. But also a big name that actually sent him tape while at UK. Joker wouldn’t even talk to him. Resent the tape to Stoops and he called him as soon as he watched it. Stoops offered. A while later UF does. Heard of a kid named Woulard. Yeah him. Apparently he isn’t the only one.
January 27th, 2013 at 6:10 pm
Don’t sweat it, #24, everywhere else in the country makes fun of Ohio.
January 27th, 2013 at 6:13 pm
#55 — Well, %37 of Kentuckians don’t hate Obama. Oh, and who voted FOR Obama over Romney? Lexington, Louisville, Frankfort (Fayette, Jefferson, Franklin). And, um, Elliot county?
January 28th, 2013 at 11:01 pm
It’s pretty insulting the way some of you people are talking about GVSU. First of all, rumor has it he has a girlfriend who goes to GVSU. Secondly, if he wants to do T&F, I would be going to GVSU as well. They have one of the top track programs in the entire country across all NCAA Divisions (Yes, they are Division II, not NAIA) and have had multiple athletes competing in the US Olympic trials, particularly for throws. If he feels he has a legitimate shot at competing for the Olympics, then GVSU is a very good choice of where to go.
