My nerves are completely shot, but we got the win.
Following a bad loss to Alabama, Kentucky needed a win over LSU to feel good about itself again. Behind a combined 35 points from Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress, Kentucky defeats the Tigers 75-70. Nerlens Noel had another huge game as well. With a stat line of 10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocks and 2 assists, he continues to be the best player on the floor for the Wildcats.
We’ll have more in a few.

Too close for comfort down the stretch. Thought a blowout was coming 10-15 minutes in!

January 26th, 2013 at 6:09 pm
AP has a double double! Proud of that young man!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:10 pm
May be NCAA 1st round, that’s all…barely winning against LSU, says a lot…
January 26th, 2013 at 6:10 pm
I like the foul-call my Coach in that situation. Overall, OK…we are who we are.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:10 pm
Our back court has to have some pride and step it up. Lucky we didnt lose again
January 26th, 2013 at 6:11 pm
3- me too
I liked what I saw out of Poy today. Looked great.
and ul is going to be the first team in history to go from #1 to unranked in a week and a half. hahaha
January 26th, 2013 at 6:13 pm
Poythress had 20 points, 12 rebounds, and most importantly only ONE TURNOVER! Thank god he decided to turn it on for today’s game.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:14 pm
I so want to get behind this win but…………..
January 26th, 2013 at 6:15 pm
A WIN, IS A WIN, IS A WIN !!! I’ll take it ..
January 26th, 2013 at 6:15 pm
I believe that this is going to finally get it together but I’m afraid it’s going to be too late by the time they do. They should tear through the NIT, though.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:16 pm
Wow beata really terrible Lu’s team at rupp by 5????????
Looks more and more like a nit team
January 26th, 2013 at 6:16 pm
^^^^^
“…this that TEAM is going…”
January 26th, 2013 at 6:18 pm
Please prove me wrong
January 26th, 2013 at 6:19 pm
LSU’s Caramouche had as many assists (7) as our entire team total.
Despite our win today there’s very little hope moving forward in this season. If we do manage to squeak into the tournament we’ll be bounced first round.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:19 pm
Back on track? Are you serious??? This team is no better than they were on day one!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:21 pm
Careful Card trolls. Not your day!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:21 pm
When the dribble drive offense works well, you don’t collect a lot of assists. That’s just a side affect of driving to the hoop to score. LSU let UK have a lot of drives down the lane today so there was not as much need to pass the ball off to open shooters.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:22 pm
Feels like a loss, worst Calipari team in history!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:23 pm
That flagrant foul they called was terrible. 4 point swing and gave LSU all the momentum. Is it just me, or do college basketball refs alter outcomes of games a lot more than in the past?
January 26th, 2013 at 6:24 pm
Whew! Aged me 10 years! Way to go Cats!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:26 pm
It was a win, but it wasn’t pretty. I honestly can’t see much improvement over the beginning of the SEC opener against Vandy
January 26th, 2013 at 6:27 pm
BIGGEST LOSER….Nashville Chamber of Commerce. Cats go home early in the SEC Tournament!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:28 pm
Back on track? This team is a train wreck.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:28 pm
23 in a word YES!!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:30 pm
They just got LUCKY!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:32 pm
^^agree with #27 back on track?? you watched a different game and squeeking one out at HOME against a terrible squad is not a season changer bro
January 26th, 2013 at 6:33 pm
Somebody needs to check the Gatorade in the locker room before halftime. These kids come out sluggish to start the 2nd every time.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:33 pm
#23 I agree. You wonder if they have a monetary interest in these games. Not a bad win, LSU played as well as they are going to play. We are still playing without WCS, would have helped with the defense today.
I think if we ever give this team a nickname it will be THE MORSE CODE team. We are experts at telegraphing passes.
GO CATS!!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:33 pm
#23 yes. it is almost painful to watch anymore. referrees have become more demonstrative with their calls too like it’s them that ppl paid good money to see
January 26th, 2013 at 6:34 pm
They are saying Hood looks really good in practice. Reason is, he gets to play in practice.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:36 pm
Struggle struggle. Keep cheering and hope for the best. Any of u sorry assed fans complaining about this team can shut it! I’m tired of ur bitching. Support ur cats in good times or bad. We have had some really good times u stupid spoiled brats! Oh, And anyone see the old dude wearing orange?
January 26th, 2013 at 6:37 pm
That was a terrible “team” performance…geez they looked bad. Team has no shot to advance in the NCAA tournament, that’s if they’re lucky enough to get an invite. You can’t go out there, perform like that against a lousy LSU squad this late in the season…on your home floor, and expect to be dangerous come tournament time. I would say a birth in the NIT, where they would get some valuable tournament game experience, would benefit this team more than a one and done game in the NCAA, but heck, only a few players from this team would benefit, considering the expected mass exodus of freshmen after this season. Not to mention losing Mays, the lone senior.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:37 pm
Flagrant foul the worst by church league officials , turned game, at least 7 point, I was pleased to see them hang on
January 26th, 2013 at 6:37 pm
Wiltjer reminded me of my ex-girlfriend today. Neither one of them put out.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:37 pm
I remember them good ole days when every UK win was a “feel good” win..no longer. I also remember when it used to be entertaining and fun to listen to Cal’s postgame shows..no longer.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:40 pm
Come on guys a win is a win. Negativity has not produced a better result, so let’s try some positivity for a while; at least they look like they are having a little fun now anyway. So all the negativity needs to stop and just enjoy this team for what they are, a group of freshmen, give them a break. Go back to disrespecting Louisville, they are losing to and they are not our team!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:41 pm
Announcers kept saying elbow to the head was cause of flagrant foul. I DVR’d the game as well as watched all the replays when it happened. Mays’ elbow never hit the LSU player. It was his bicep. That’s proof that the defender was totally violating the space of the offensive guy. LSU player would have to back up about 6 inches so that Mays’ elbow could have hit him.
SEC officials suck!!!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:43 pm
37 be thankful. Those are the same church league officials that didn’t notice six men on the floor
January 26th, 2013 at 6:44 pm
This was a moral loss for UK and a moral win for LSU
January 26th, 2013 at 6:45 pm
How is UK gonna beat Florida
January 26th, 2013 at 6:46 pm
36 – A “birth” in the NIT would be very interesting scientifically for a men’s basketball team. In fact it would be a first of historic proportions.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:47 pm
Why are you still holding out hope that UK will beat Florida? Accept that it’s not gonna happen and move on.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:49 pm
Will whoever is holding the lightbulb for these guys please turn it on?
January 26th, 2013 at 6:49 pm
OK then, how will UK beat anyone
January 26th, 2013 at 6:51 pm
Hope the officials are having their usual bad day, but more bad calls go in UK’s favor than the other team.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:52 pm
Some of u guys sound like the biggest crybabies ever. And after a win! #39 really? We just won the NCAA Title less than a year ago and u make it sound like 50 years ago. It’s a down year with a young team. Put on your big girl pants and deal with it sad sack!
January 26th, 2013 at 6:54 pm
No comments on Harrow getting punched in the nuts in this picture?
January 26th, 2013 at 7:11 pm
Goodwin almost cost us the game….again. Why does he have such a green light? On the season so far, he has taken 20% of this teams shots and responsible for 25% of the turnovers. He’s taken 214 shots, that’s 45 more than Wiltjer, who’s taken the 2nd most at 169. Aarghchie is averaging 11.2 SHOTS per game, and only 14.6 ppg. That is PATHETIC, not to mention a whopping 29% from 3. Allen Iverson, anyone??I know we don’t really have a great scorer, but it SURE ain’t number 10. We’ve heard all year how Cal is working one on one with WCS, with Alex, with Harrow…who’s working with Goodwin?

How the high and haughty have fallen. Our Cats eke out a win over an SEC also-ran with the BEST talent in the freshman class nationally, and we’re singing it’s praises ?!
Next thing you know we’ll be ya-hooing our star football recruits !
LOL

January 26th, 2013 at 7:23 pm
That was “back on track?” Squeaking out a win at home that you’re favored by 17? Tuesday night is a certain loss. Four certain loses coming and probably 2 more lost on the road. I’ll be optimistic and say 20-11.
January 26th, 2013 at 7:36 pm
Goodwin did a lot better today. It is a shame that some of you crybabies call yourself UK fans. Most of you just don’t deserve to be UK fans. Go pull for Clemson or UL and see how happy you would be. Sad sorry fair weather folks on this site make it no fun for me any more. I really need to stop reading the comments.
January 26th, 2013 at 7:47 pm
51, maybe that’s why he doesn’t have a “huskier voice”.

==== Maybe they can can show a FEW more camera shots of that overweight, out of work , ex actress …….
I really hope she doesn’t think she’s popular enough for us to forget her LIBERAL mindedness when deigning to run for a high ranking political office…..
She would be SADLY mistaken ……. we haven’t forgotten who she so gleefullly backed for PRESUMPIDNESS, along with her Hollywood COMMIES !

55 – I agree with you completely. I really doubt a lot of these people making comments are really KY fans. I think many are trolls posing as KY fans. The comments they are making aren’t even funny. You used to be able to count on some pretty humorous comments, but not lately. It’s just a bunch of people complaining and being hateful to the team and each other. I think the trolls have been successful in driving off many of the best comment makers.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:01 pm
Uk beats vandy (lucky) Mizzou beats vandy by 30 fla beAts mizzou by 30 what does fla beat uk by?…..
