Marcus McWilson is good at football, will visit Kentucky this weekend

by @ 1:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

With apologies to Nebraska fans, it is with great excitement I tell you Marcus McWilson will visit Kentucky this weekend.  Justin Rowland, who seems to know everything these days, reported the news on Twitter this afternoon.  The current Nebraska commit told Rowland it’s now an even race between the Cornhuskers and the Wildcats.

McWilson is a four-star safety, ranked 16th in the nation at his position.  He’s a Cardinal Mooney kid and Vince Marrow was the lead recruiter who lured him to Nebraska, so you have to like Kentucky’s chances with swaying his commitment.

This would be a HUGE get and will push UK even closer to that top 25 class ranking.

  1. Deacon Says:

16 committed. 9 spots left. Wish list: (1) Hatcher DE, (2) McWilson S (3) Samples WR (4) Timmons WR (5) Woulard QB (6) Maka OL / DL (7) Hearns LB (8) Badet WR (9) ???

Do we get half of these guys? Two of these guys?

  2. LetsBeHonest Says:

KSR would have nothing to report about football if they didn’t follow Justin Rowland on Twitter. The guy is killing it and KSR needs to find a way to get him on their staff.

  3. will Says:

my wish list: godwin igwebuike, jason hatcher, jarran reed, rashad samples, james hearns, taj williams, mcwilson, jojo kemp, and either timmons or badet (they are the same player, IMO).

  4. Dear Lord Says:

Thank you for these football coaches.

  5. JJ Says:

Mcwilson will be a cat. Just needed to visit first.

1.) Take Woulard off your list, and maybe Hearns possibly (though it could be close). However, add 4* Godwin Igwebuike. Samples seems 50/50, probably slight leaning OKst. We’re gonna have a great class.

  6. Real talk Says:

The notion that joker was a great recruiter is a myth. I’ve never seen this many quality players visiting uk.

  7. B Mac Says:

I have to say, I love what Stoops and his staff have going on here. I get more and more excited as the days go on that I am a season ticket holder. So glad that football is getting some buzz. #StoopsTroops

  8. Jack Says:

    5. Hearns is likely to be a Cat. Hope you realize this. Woulard isn’t off, especially if Badet commits. Correct about Samples. McWilson is committing to Kentucky. Godwin will be a Cat, also.

  9. dave Says:

um rivals has 21 teams with 5 or more 4/5-star players.
    247sports has 24 teams & scout has 23 teams.
so hatcher, timmons, mcwilson, woolard could all sign & we still could be out of top 25.
recruiting is tough. top 30-35 is great.
lets see if we can beat out mizz, ku, iu, uofl, cincy, duke this year and then maybe unc, northwestern, pitt, wva.
    we’ll see

  10. MustangCat Says:

Gonna be a LOOOOONG next two weeks!!! I imagine the only ones we can count on are commits now. Looking for almost all of the Joker commits to drop. Like to keep a couple, but not if it knocks us out of anyone Stoops is goin after right now.

  11. Trent Says:

Just seen on ESPN that Jason Hatcher has officially decommitted from USC as well. Hopefully this is a good sign for us!

  12. MustangCat Says:

If we count 4-stars based on at least ONE service grading them out 4-stars??! Most of these guys are 4-star on at least one the big boards! And the services flip people both ways?! It’s hard to understand the discrepancies sometimes…

  13. jj Says:

9.) Baby steps. We beat the National Champions in LSU in ’07 without a class as close as to what this one is shaping up to be, ranking wise. And I feel MUCH better about our all around staff on the field as well. That, and we’re not starting from scratch. Yes we went 2-10 last season, but we do have a foundation and some talented players already here.

8.) Not sure what makes you think that about Hearns. I’m not expecting to land him. Hope you’re correct though. Would be huge. Would give us 4*’s on every level of the defense in this class. 2 4* DE’s (Hathcer/Smith), 4* linebacker, two 4* DB’s (Godwin and Hytchye), and a 4* safety (McWilson). Let that sink in everybody. This is a new day for Kentucky football. However I think there’s no chance we end up with Woulard. Not a huge loss.

  14. SPELL CHECK Says:

Why does his shirt say “authenic original”
Also, why the heck did I notice that?

  15. poythress=mashburn Says:

“authentic” is spelled incorrectly on his shirt. It’s spelled authentically though.

  16. BlueRedNeck Says:

Why is there a wheelbarrow full of muddy water in the background?

  17. YesNDeedyThemRBigguns Says:

Hey #2 who cares were they get I for one like coming here 1 place to get my info instead of 20 different spots so why don’t you go too Justin Rowland’s web site and stay off of here so we don’t have to read your crappy 2 cents worth. Oh just saying

  18. KadizKat Says:

I’m with #17, why do we care where KSR gets the information. It’s FREE to us.

  19. Old Cat Says:

It seems a shame that we must recruit against someone still on our payroll. Stoops and all of the others are free and clear of their previous employers. What ever happen to ethics?

  20. Drew Says:

    17. 18 well i think some people believe that they should do their own work and not steal other peoples work.. I like ksr but the individuals who are complaining about do have a point

  21. KadizKat Says:

#20, as long as they are giving credit to their source, why would it matter. I also don’t believe that KSR pays these guys much to work for them. I think they are, mostly, gatherers of informaiton, not reporters in the truest form of the word.

  22. Drew Says:

Well that’s all fine and dandy but i dont know if they site the source all the time but whatever like you said I appreciate the fact that I don’t have to pay for this information…

  23. Marion County Says:

Hey #19, quit gripin about Joker. You never said beans when Cal bought 75% of the Memphis recruits with him to Kentucky. We must compete with everyone and not complain.
