Deangelo Yancey will no longer be a part of Kentucky’s 2013 recruiting class. The wide receiver from Atlanta has reopened his recruitment just a few days after telling Rivals.com he’s still committed to UK. Maybe he knows something about Jeff Badet?
Yancey won’t be the last Joker Phillips commitment to back out over the next few days as the pieces fall in place for Mark Stoops’ class.
It happens.

Come on down Staples and Timmons!

I hope Stoop’s staff is doing as much as they can to help the players they are telling to look elsewhere find new places. This is the part of a new staff I don’t like. I know it happens everywhere, and ultimately is probably better for the recruit, but it’s not fun.

2- it happens EVERYWHERE

Let’s close the deal on Jason Hatcher.

Sometimes life just gets in the way of dreams.
Call Gainesville and take it up with Joker, see if he can make room.

That stinks. I mean, we beat out Buffalo, Florida International, and Middle Tennessee State for her services and now he’s gone?! That’s it. I’m giving up my season tickets.

I hope folks will remember these are kids. Whether they choose to come here or not, let’s wish them well. Sometimes, the choice will be theirs. Sometimes, it will be ours. Sometimes, it will be mutual. We should not say snide things about them. We should not belittle them. In addition to the fact that it’s rude and immature to make snarky comments about recruits, it hurts our chances to land others. In sum, it make us look petty and small. Let’s be big, instead.

We also beat out ole miss, nc state, and wake forest. I trust in stoops but on paper this kids looked promising. Good size with a 4.5 40

I didn’t think Demarcus Cousins would have any eligibility left for college? I guess it’s different if he wants to play football

I’m getting the feeling that we will land samples. I’ve been hearing that Hatcher is leaning towards UK!!! I hope this is legit!!!

2, there are positives to this. the kid still gets a free education and will go somewhere that will actually play him. these things are usually mutual after a recruit is presented with those aspects.

Best of luck to ya kid. Hope things open up in your favor. If anyone has issues with this kind of attrition, stop and ask yourself: have any of these kids heard from Joker since he got on at Florida? I seriously doubt it. He sells em on UK, now doesn’t want them at Florida?! It’s a cold hard truth part of the game. Good luck Yancy.

#13 And your point is what? Of course Joker isn’t recruiting all the kids to FL that he recruited to UK. He’d be crazy to. At UK, the doormat of the SEC, he couldn’t get top 150 recruits to look at UK. Now, he’s got 4/5* players in his backyard. FL may not be considered as elite as it was with Spurrier or Meyer, but geez do you honestly think there is a comparison between UK and UF? Stoops has created some buzz. He’s set his sights on higher level targets and he’s got a couple. Yes, a couple, but look at FL’s current class and ask yourself why Joker would need to raid his previous UK commits.

If he still has his offer to Ole Miss, he should jump on that.
January 23rd, 2013 at 12:04 pm
Joker wasn’t hired for his recruiting ability
January 23rd, 2013 at 12:05 pm
@14. Didn’t mean to offend you there. Just pointing out that the business side of this can be cold. Coaches try to form a connection on a personal basis with a kid. No problem. Stoops and Brown have doors open to them now because of this. It’s smart. Woulard used UK to up the interest from other schools. Smart on his part. We see de-commits all the time. It happens across the board. Schools, coaches, and players do it. Business can be cold. Joker is just another example of the business side. We, I hope, will just be classy and respectful, hope for the best, wish them well and move on. No big deal..

Bodkin and Dowdell have also decommitted.

#17 no offense taken. Yes, decommits should definitely be expected with a coaching change. As far as your sentence in your post #13: “He sells em on UK, now doesn’t want them at Florida?!”, well yes he did. He sold “lesser recruits” on coming to UK and trying to build the program. Same thing Stoops is selling them. (obviously Joker couldn’t do the building part). But at Florida, Joker won’t need to sell recruits on that. He can recruit much like Cal does for UK BB… “come be part of the machine and turn it into $$$$ for yourself”. It remains to be seen if Stoops can ever turn UK into a program like that. Good luck to him. He’s gonna need it.

16 committed. 9 spots left. Wish list: (1) Hatcher DE, (2) McWilson S (3) Samples WR (4) Timmons WR (5) Woulard QB (6) Maka OL / DL (7) Hearns LB (8) Badet WR (9) ???
Do we get half of these guys? Two of these guys?
January 23rd, 2013 at 1:12 pm
but he has such a cool name….lol

20.) I think you gotta throw Hearns teammate in there Taj Williams. He may be the highest rate recruit to visit during Stoops recruiting.
