Missouri head coach Frank Haith could find himself in hot water when the NCAA releases a notice of allegations regarding the Miami investigation. The former Hurricane head basketball coach could receive a multiple-year show-cause penalty for unethical conduct at Miami, according to CBSSports.com. Nevin Shapiro accused Haith of paying $10,000 to the family of a former player and Haith failed to prove otherwise.
He’ll also be charged with failure to promote an atmosphere of compliance due to impermissible airline travel that was given to family members of players and also the interaction between Shapiro and players while on visits.
Unfortunate news for our SEC brethren.

What about Clint Hurtt?

Bruce Pearl Act II

Nevin Shapiro is a POS. If you ever get a chance, watch the CNBC episode of “American Greed” about Shapiro. He ran the 2nd largest Ponzi Scheme behind Bernie Madoff in US history. Now he is in prison trying to “Blowup” the UofMiami Athletic Program.

Dang, can we uninvite Mizzou?
January 21st, 2013 at 6:22 pm
#4, I agree.
January 21st, 2013 at 6:24 pm
Explains how Missouri got Oriaki right from under Cal’s nose at the 11th hour.
I agree about Clint Hurt. When is the bomb going to drop on UL? If the NCAA is not going to go after schools other than UK, UCONN, Miami, etc. who are considered black sheep of college athletics, schools like UL are going to run hog wild cheating for players.
January 21st, 2013 at 6:25 pm
He is that episode if anyone has time to watch it.
Nevin Shapiro POS.

So, who gets punished here? Missouri, Miami, or both?
January 21st, 2013 at 6:32 pm
I think the whole thing is stupid. What moral code did Haith break by giving a kid money? So what if he wanted to give someone $10k or parents a free plane ride? If I wanted to give you 10k and a free plane ride, you would take it, no?
Forget that amateurism crap. The NCAA is a billion dollar organization that hides behind amateurism. Let the players be paid; they earn it, not Emmert or any other person who sits at a desk at the NCAA.
January 21st, 2013 at 6:36 pm
Getting paid externally and having a full time athletic scholarship are nt mutually exclusive. It is possible to have both worlds. Full time academic scholarship holders could receive $10k + a free plane ride with no problem. I don’t see a difference.
January 21st, 2013 at 6:38 pm
“Haith failed to prove otherwise”
Glad we live in the USA where you have to be proven guilty versus proving your innocence.
Guy may be guilty as hell, but the accuser has to prove you’re guilty versus the accused then having to prove they’re innocent.
January 21st, 2013 at 6:40 pm
I knew something was Sypher when alex oriaki chose missou over uk.
January 21st, 2013 at 6:48 pm
Explains the abrupt Oriaki committment!

#13 You are right saying UK fans ain’t the center of the world, but you need to realize that UK is in the center of the state and that makes us UK fans and UK basketball the center of the basketball world.

#16, East Ky Cat?
January 21st, 2013 at 7:00 pm
True 13 but this isnot a Court of Law its NCA who determs these matters didnt do any thing Miami or Uof L football so why would anyone think any differant in this case.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:01 pm
John Wall’s last visit was to Miami before commiting to Kentucky.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:02 pm
Frank is a minor leaguer compared to Twinkie Tits Cal and Uncle “bag man” Wes.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:05 pm
Miami and Frank Haith will be punished by NCAA. Missouri will be punished by having to fire Haith and hire a new coach.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:05 pm
Please pay these kids… And allow performance enhancing drugs. I do not understand paying people to police these two issues. One is blatantly indentured servitude and the other is just stupid… it is no different than allowing these yahoos to smoke.

Lol! Haith in trouble? I was the one runnin ish down there.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:10 pm
According to the running news line on ESPN, Shapiro is accused of THOUSANDS of violations mainly with Miami football. Get ready Charlie, looks like a decision will be on your plate soon.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:10 pm
Until World Wide Wes is behind bars, none of these coaches should be in trouble.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:14 pm
Bridgewater came to UL with Hurtt. Good news could be just around the corner.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:15 pm
Miami board said Hurtt will get off scott free.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:20 pm
#30 – not sure where you are getting your info but it looks like Hurtt is one of the main targets of the NCAA: http://www.stateoftheu.com/2013/1/18/3890514/ncaa-investigation-update-things-are-looking-up-for-miami-hurricanes-al-golden.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:21 pm
I totally get that the NCAA isn’t a court of law and that the burden of proof doesn’t rest solely with the accuser.
But how the hell do you seriously expect a guy to prove he *didn’t* give someone money? A Bizarro bank statement that shows who you DIDN’T pay?
January 21st, 2013 at 7:23 pm
Man Shapiro has to be in protective custody with as many people as he’s been ratting out
January 21st, 2013 at 7:26 pm
Teddy ain’t the only player I bought…I mean brought with me.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:28 pm
Agree 13. Times are a changing, we now have gun control, record # of unemployed, a government that no longer upholds its own constitution.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:30 pm
The ‘Cal is a cheater’ stuff was clever at first. Now it’s just sad and pathetic.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:32 pm
13) Yeah, that phrasing sucks. He was accused and couldn’t prove himself innocent? Pretty much the opposite of the legal system (in theory). Did the accuser have actual proof, or just allegations?
That said, we’re talking about the inner rules of a company (the NCAA), not the criminal justice system.
20) Other than Pete “I believe any source without evidence” Thamel, and trolls on messaheboards with no actual sources, who exactly has ever presented any evidence Cal has cheated? The two things he’s known for and that cost him his Final Fours didn’t even involve him, as one was a decision to cheat on the SAT (supposedly) by a high schooler (Rose), and the other was a player taking a gift (Camby).
January 21st, 2013 at 7:38 pm
If the NCAA decides to follow Clint Hurtt’s dirty trail and busts his arse for violations at Miami, including his recruitment of Teddy to UL, then UL would have to forfeit their Sugar Bowl win. All of the UL trolls who claim that it is just a matter of time before UK has to vacate their championship would be clogging the locks of the Ohio River.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:39 pm
Rumblings that Teddy will lose his eligibilty. Took handouts from the U. Then backed out of his commitment. Sounds like he’s going down.
January 21st, 2013 at 7:39 pm
Hmmm, that’s about how long it has been since UL’s last NCAA BB championship, isn’t it?
January 21st, 2013 at 7:54 pm
Looks like Hurtt got a call today as well
January 21st, 2013 at 8:00 pm
Nice 39. You don’t want to beat us you want to BE US. Trolls are like that nut hair that gets tangled after your through swimming with Clinton Hurtt and Mr. Shapiro in the ocean with strippers and cocaine lines all over the damn place.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:01 pm
Sorry new 39. The moderator caught the impostor.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:03 pm
why would you have to cheat to recruit to theU? you play duke & unc in b-ball, its a great academic school & its in coral gables. they should be top 25-30 every year without even having to cheat.
January 21st, 2013 at 8:05 pm

Teddy Bridgewater, Coach Hurtt, Coach Strong, Mr. Jurich: the NCAA is on line 4 & would like to see you in the principals office tomorrow morning.

January 22nd, 2013 at 5:35 am
Forget about Frank Haith. I am hearing from a UaVel friend of mine, yeah I have one. He is a nice guy though and realistic. They are in big big trouble. Hurtt in his 1st yr got all those Miami kids illegally. Notice how their recruiting has tanked ever since. He is very worried. There are talks that all wins could be forefeited for the last 3 yrs and Bridgewater is done. Turtleneck wanted to stand by him but it completely backfired. To me this sounds short of death penalty material. I mean you wondered how in the hell someone would want to go to city school. Now we know why?? They will be back to garbage as quickly as next year. WE OWN THIS STATE!
January 22nd, 2013 at 9:54 am
53we could only pray that would happen but the little comuter school is protected with the” we are a hurban school,,,,, the race cards win again
January 22nd, 2013 at 12:34 pm
Shouldn’t they have to prove that he did instead of him having to prove that he didn’t? WTF?
