Anthony Grant on Kyle Wiltjer

by @ 7:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

If Kentucky is going to come up with a second consecutive convincing win in the state of Alabama tomorrow night, Kyle Wiltjer is going to have to play another big game.  I don’t mean Kyle Wiltjer should have a big game, could have a big game, or might have a big game; I mean Kyle Wiltjer has to have a big game.  Wiltjer was big against Auburn with Nerlens Noel in foul trouble and Willie Cauley-Stein back in Lexington, and he’ll be called upon for a repeat performance tomorrow night against the Crimson Tide.

Anthony Grant knows the importance of Wiltjer in Kentucky’s rotation, especially with Cauley-Stein expected to sit out again.  He spoke highly of Wiltjer’s game during this afternoon’s press conference.

“He is a really skilled player,” Grant said.  ”I think everyone knows about his ability to shoot the basketball, but what is really impressive watching him on film is how good he is passing the ball. He gets his teammates involved. He is playing really well and we will have to do a good job defensively on him. They have other guys out there as well who are really good shooting the ball, so they have some good pieces and we will have to do a good job defensively.”

Kentucky fans are excited for another night of the aggressive Kyle Wiltjer, and it sounds like Anthony Grant is ready, too.

Bring it on.

Give Alabama a taste of YMCA basketball Kyle.

  2. indiana tom Says:

Early spread has cats three and a half point favorite.

  3. Bama Bangs Says:

Grant is on the hot seat. A win over UK would be big.

  4. Reality Says:

Wiltjer is horrible against top 50 teams. Cannot guard a folding chair.

  5. supreem Says:

Translation: We are going to hack his arms off every time he touches the ball.

  6. tdogg40330 Says:

Is he watching the same UK team as I have been? Who are the other good shooters? Poythress?no Julius?no. Archie?no. Harrow? Every once in awhile

  7. Jpo Says:

    6. Poythress has a nice shot

  8. tdogg40330 Says:

  9. L1C4 Says:

    We are #5 !!!

  10. Reality Says:

I should change my name to One Trick Pony. I have used the “folding chair” example how many times now? Good news for readers though: I won’t post again until I have an original thought.

  11. brain Says:

Bama will try to lock down KW so others need to be ready to step up.

  12. I Say Says:

10 I agree. 4 what do you have against folding chairs?

  13. The Bank is Open Says:

3- I agree, he should be shown the door if they don’t make the tournament. Which I seriously doubt. Both he and Mark Fox at UGA came in same year as Cal did; only one tournament appearence for UGA and none for Alabama. It’s baffling to many how little each have produced and is one big reason the SEC is down.

  14. UK Fan 4 Ever Says:

WCS should have a big game.

  15. hmmm Says:

15.) That’s just a pathetic attempt at trolling. Where’s the originality? I expect better…come harder next time

  16. Angry Birds Says:

This is not a social site!!!

  17. Confused Says:

#15, why are you dogging yourself?

  18. Reality Says Says:

I am a Duke fan, and I come on this site to upset real UK fans. I wish players would start wearing the short shorts like they did in the old days.

  19. Dusten Says:

#17- “hmmm” is probably replying to an offensive post that was originally the fifteenth until it’s removal. Now making him appear to criticize himself.

  20. HAHA!! Vacated Sugar Bowl! Says:

@kysportsradio – uh-oh RT @BFeldmanCBS: I am told by source l’ville asst Clint Hurtt got a call from NCAA &”They are pretty much throwing everything at him.”

  21. Sugar Bowl Says:

Dear UL, we want our trophy back.

  22. Joker Says:

Ha, if UL vacates victories, then my record is 3-9, just saying.

  23. HAHA!! Vacated Sugar Bowl! Says:

And that was the sound of PANIC in the UofL trolls. Love It!

  24. red headed step child Says:

Never mind the confusion, THANKS KSR for efforts towards moderation. A lot of us have been begging hit it and you listened. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

  25. Sad for Says:

    UL vacated season!

  26. 9in2014 Says:

Forde is disputing Feldman. Also saying Hurtt will not be fired.

  27. Question Says:

If UL is on probation next season, will they be ranked?

  28. Catlanta Says:

I hate uofl, but zero will happen to uofl. They may have to can Hurtt, but that is it.

  29. L1C4 Says:

    Thanks CATLANTA for the love.

  30. BBN Says:

    Ban CATLANTA!

  31. HAHA!!! Vacated Sugar Bowl!! Says:

28- So Hurtt didn’t recruit anyone on UofL’s roster? (Miami recruit Teddy Brigewater?} Louisville has PLENTY to worry about right now.

  32. HAHA!!! Vacated Sugar Bowl!! Says:

Teddy will be deemed ineligible and all games he played in will be vacated.

  33. HAHA!!! Vacated Sugar Bowl!! Says:

Just playing. UL will not have to vacate.

  34. ClayCountyCat Says:

I have read up on the Hurtt situation. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have anything to do with uofl. The NCAA is not looking into anything he has done while coaching the tards. Also, the article I read said Teddy Bridgewater’s recruitment was looked at and nothing was found. Wish this were not true. Tards will get a black eye and have to fire Hurtt. But that will likely be it.

  35. HAHA!!! Vacated Sugar Bowl!! Says:

    26.) WRONG!

  36. Confused Again Says:

I am confused with #32 and 33. Makes no sense?

  37. Ridge Runner Says:

I am starting not to believe the comments on this blog.

  38. Bicycle Seat Sniffer Says:

Anyone hoping uofl will get in trouble is going to be disappointed. I hope they get hammered, but it is not going to happen. Anyone, that has followed this thing knows I am right. It is 100% about hurtt and the Canes.

  39. UL Announcement Says:

Per ESPNU, UL will have a press conference tomorrow at 11am. Wonder what that is about?

  40. HAHA!!! Vacated Sugar Bowl!!! Says:

    36 &37.) #33 is a troll.

  41. Confused more Says:

HAHA!!! Vacated Sugar Bowl!! is a troll?

  42. Frosty Tip One Says:

Ha ha, my site does not have trolls!

  43. BBN Says:

42 yeah but you are there. Even worse than a troll….

  44. Frosty Tip One Says:

BBN, thanks for backing me up ……

  45. Got CAL? Says:

When WCS shoots free throws he has the ball flat in the palm of his hand. Any good shooter I have ever seen has the contact with the ball more with his finger tips, which allows him to have better touch on each shoot.
