Barbee: “I got outcoached, we got outplayed”

by @ 11:45 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Tony Barbee was downright disgusted with his team in the post game press conference, telling reporters “I got outcoached, we got outplayed.” The loss was the worst at home during Barbee’s tenure, which he blamed partly on his players being “scared of the moment”:

“I would expect maybe some of our younger guys because of their name, because of who they are, to be a little shell-shocked, but not our veteran guys.”

Barbee said the Cats capitalized on that:

“They played tough, they fed off our lack of confidence.”

Go Cats.

Classy Coach. He’s doing well there overall with what he has.

  2. Emerson Biggins Says:

But Cal is only a good recruiter, not a good coach?!?!@

  3. Me Says:

    3rd!!!!

  4. Han Says:

Without WCS out and with Noel in foul trouble, with Poythress and Wiltjer not strong defenders in the post, any team should have been able to get to the rim a lot more than they did, which then would have opened up the arc. The fact that they didn’t make a 3 and didn’t take advantage of our lack of paint defense shows how much his team is behind where they should be.

    2) Cal’s friends and supporters, including guys in the media, seem to try to bring that up as a stupid point a lot. Barkley today said Cal’s a great recruiter and a great coach. He didn’t point out that Cal hates the one-and-done rule, but they often point that out too. Still it’s good to hear it.

  5. Still Concerned Says:

Good win but I’m still very concerned. Our drouts offensively are awful at times and against a decent team they will capitalize on that. I can guarantee if we start 0-10 against AL on Tues we are in deep sh-t. This team just labors to score at times. Kyle needs to be starting over Mayes in my opinion. Take advantage while he’s got the confidence going.

  6. Drew is a Duke fan Says:

Still concerned, it was a great win. Try enjoying being a UK fan instead of looking for a nit to pick.

  7. Ibleedblu Says:

Still concerned, we didn’t start 0-10, nerlens had 4 points in like the first 2 mins. This team seems to mimic their competition at times. Like the first half tonight, they scored after auburn scored. Then something clicked and they took over. Let’s hope it stays that way, go cats!!

  8. Ridge Runner Says:

    5. Who is Mayes?

  9. Mike Says:

    5. Still Concerned….A lot of folks are right there with u on this. When we only scored 4 pts. in first 8 mins. everyone should be concerned. Why is it that we can never start a game with a lot of passion and confidence? Auburn seems to have a decent team with their record, but they certainly looked like they didn’t belong on the floor last night.
