#1 Player in America, Robert Nkemdiche Visiting Kentucky

robert nkemdiche

Breaking news from the New Orleans Times-Picuyne. According to sources, the #1 ranked player in America, Defensive End Robert Nkemdiche is scheduled to visit Kentucky. The newspaper says that Nkemdiche, who is also considering LSU, Florida and Ole Miss, will come to Kentucky for a visit with his teammate, David Kamara, a Cornerback that Kentucky covets.

Look it is a WAYYYYY long shot that UK could get Nkemdiche. He is an absolute beast. But just to get a visit would be pretty amazing.

  1. Chris Says:

This blows my mind more than the Te’o story

  2. coreyt Says:

This is insane. Get em Stoops!!!

  3. Derrick wells Says:

    Holy Crap!!!

  4. JV Says:

Wow. I don’t have any expectations of getting him, but just the fact that we’re getting these players on campus shows we’re headed in the right direction.

  5. Holy Crap... Says:

Get these two along with the dual threat QB and WR from Florida.

This is becoming more entertaining that watching the UK Men B-Ball Team play.

  6. Flippercat Says:

Since Bobby Petrino is the greatest coach of our generation, maybe it’s a decoy for a WKU visit.

  7. Not trying to be a downer... Says:

Sadly, guys, I don’t think that article is accurate. As a matter of fact, it is a typo. Nkemdiche will not be visiting with Kamara.

  8. SalsaKat Says:

Nkemdiche is not playing at Kentucky. But if the article is accurate (which it may not be) then just having him on campus would send a message to other elite recruits in future classes that we are in fact serious about football.

  9. Chris Says:

It definitely is a LONG shot but is still exciting and awesome that Stoops has the ability to get the #1 player on campus, which is a huge step forward. Nkemdiche’s older brother plays for Ole Miss, so many assume he is already a lock down commitment for them. But hey, more crazy things have happened before!

  10. Gulp Says:

Hey Matt, I thought you couldn’t recruit at Kentucky. Like the fans said all along, if you get the right coaches you can recruit. When is he visiting Louisville? Oh yeah. Hope we can Jason Hatcher. That is if he wants to play with the big boys in the SEC.

  11. Agent J Says:

Way to ruin everything Matt….this was suppose to be a covert operation…

  12. Big Blue 66 Says:

thats what you have to do….give yourself a chance….why not….swing for the heavens and reach the stars

  13. communistbasketball Says:

What a joke. The article on the link says he will be visiting LSU with kamara not Kentucky

  14. jlove Says:

That has to be a typo.

  15. communistbasketball Says:

My bad it says later that he has scheduled visits with Kentucky and Florida. Thought this was a cruel joke but wow its not

  16. LOL Says:

LOL…..you guys need to read before you open your keyboard. It says Kentucky also gets a visit in the article.

  17. ChicagoCat Says:

The article does not, in fact, say that Kamara is visiting Kentucky with him. It says he and Kamara are visiting LSU together and makes passing reference to Nkemidiche’s other visits to Florida and Kentucky.

This would be crazy and awesome, if true, but count me in the “I’ll believe it when I see it” camp.

  18. jonathan Says:

10,000 feet…hey, how about this? i mean, after all, “nothing” has changed with recruiting since joker, right? lexington was like a second home every year for the #1 recruits, right? haha, can’t wait to hear you talk your way out of this one. things have changed for the better and the longer the likes of you continue to downplay/dismiss it, the more you embarrass yourself with your patent prejudice.

  19. BCO Says:

Someone should be waitin on him at the airport with a duffle bag full of cash…

  20. Coach Man Says:

So if he has visits scheduled for after NSD, could one assume he has no “clear cut favorite”, and he will not be signing an NLI? I’m with everyone else in believing it would be a stretch to get this kid, but just getting him on campus is a victory!!!

  21. Charlie Strong Says:

    LOL.

  22. Tim Says:

It’s about time we start recruiting better players!!

  23. who ax'd ya? Says:

Not to beat a dead horse – BUT – my gawd, Joker was a boob. No chance this kid even knows UK exists if Joker is still coach.

Mitch, just think how much further along we’d be if you’d sh!t’canned Joker last year like ya should have.

  24. Idiot Fan Says:

Are we really sure we want this guy?

  25. Chris Says:

You whiffed on this one Matt.

  26. G-unit Says:

while it is not a joke that he is visiting there is no interest between him and Kentucky. Kamara, his teammate has some interewt in Kentucky and has been thinking about visiting for a while now. He and Robert are good friends and Robert would just be along for the ride.

  27. Chris Says:

My bad Matt. I misread something. He may be coming here. Rowland is saying that he is.

  28. Blue Jesus Says:

It’s ironic, Stoops is exceeding expectations so much right off the bat that he may be shortening his grace period with the fans. He’s bringing in better players, including guys that should contribute right away, now if they don’t perform people will get upset.

  29. Gus Chiggins Says:

Hey Chris pick a side and stay there, your confusing everyone

  30. SoCal Will Says:

Andrew Wiggins and Robert Nkemdiche. Any school ever do that the same year?

  31. eddie Says:

joker would never gone efter these guys i love stoops each day more go stooooppss and go cats

  32. SoFLCat Says:

I have plenty of faith in Stoops, I dont think anyone expects an overnight miracle. I am just counting on one upset next year of one of the top teams that will just not be ready for the “new” UK football.

  33. Stone Says:

Now it’s on SBNation. I think this is the real thing.

  34. old man Says:

Didn’t he decommit from Clemson because they wouldn’t offer his teammate a scholarship as well? Is this the same kid he was trying to get to school with him? I remember hearing a lot of noise out of GA about Robert and that he was trying to control the coaches at Clemson and who they offered. I’m wondering if they are looking at schools that they will both be offered by. I have done ZERO research on this, so I don’t know.

My gut feeling is that he is along for the ride with a friend. If the Clemson stories of him being a drama queen are true, maybe he’s trying to rile up stuff. He’d be a great get though.

  35. BigBlueFan Says:

Just think if we actually get this guy. I think Stoops should ask Cal to help him on this one

  36. Section 133 Says:

This guy is probably an Ole Miss lock. His brother plays there. We’ll see.

  37. Dr. Funke Says:

Where does the article say anything about UK? It says LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss. Would be incredible if true.

  38. BigBlueUK Says:

If this guy is coming to visit – hell, all these guys that Stoops is bringing into Lexington – need to feel the love from the BBN!!! It goes without saying how badly we need recruits like Nkemdiche and the immediate impact they can have on this program rather than being yet another horse in the stable at the usual barns. UK does have a lot to offer in a great school in a great community and a tremendous fan base that would show this kid more props than he can fathom. Go get ‘em Stoops! I’ll be at the airport when they arrive to welcome them to Lexington!

  39. MadTex Says:

Hey BigBlueUK – get the FedEx envelopes ready (remember the $100 handshake back in the Sutton days)….!!!! These recruits are looking for some money boys!!!!

  40. rnewton22 Says:

Jimmy Smith made a mistake. He meant Ole Miss, not Kentucky.

  41. MadTex Says:

I think he may go to VMI – they have a football team and a great scholastic tradition!!!

  42. 44 Stitches Says:

He’s only coming because Kamara got a offer earlier this week from the new DB coach. Nkemdiche will be an Ole Miss Rebel because that’s where his mommy wants him to play. She lives in Africa and flew back to metro Atlanta after she found out he had gave Clemson a verbal commit. Nkemdiche and bunch of his team mates at point in time were all Clemson bound. His mom wants him to play with his brother who plays for Ole Miss. She got him to de commit from Clemson. Nkemdiche and Kamara have been best friends since 6th grade and always wanted to play together in college. I live in the Atlanta area and have watched him play the last the 4 yrs and he is a MONSTER. There is no way Nkemdiche will end up at UK.

  43. MadTex Says:

    VMI!!!! VMI!!!!

  44. Big O Says:

Hey Matt Jone$. Love those recruiting moral victories.

    Stoops- 3 & Out

  45. MadTex Says:

    V

  46. MadTex Says:

    M

  47. false alarm Says:

it was suppost to say ole miss and not ky

  48. MadTex Says:

    I

  49. haha Says:

so cute seeing the cayuts fans get excited. look at me look at me! we are ranked higher in recruiting than UofL!

  50. Syrin Says:

I just assumed this was a basketball player. We’re actually get a LOOK from the #1 football player ?!?!?!

    O_O

  51. dr. dru Says:

Someone help me here….. I don’t see KY mentioned anywhere in the article…. am I missing something?

  52. Syrin Says:

#49 It must suck to have such an inferiority complex that you have to visit here just to troll. Know the last time I visited a U of L website? Never. Why would I? You’re irrelevant.

  53. Typo Says:

This was a typo. The writer tweeted he meant to say Ole Miss (were his brother plays) instead of UK. He isn’t visiting UK

  54. SevenT Says:

If this player wants to start in the SEC next season he comes to Kentucky. If he wants to ride the bench at Florida, LSU or Alabama for perhaps his entire career he goes to one of those places.

Not that complicated, I love the Stoops spirit, recruit the best and see what happens

  55. Nope Says:

#54… You named the schools where he will be riding the bench, but you forgot to mention Ole Miss, supposedly according to sources his number one school, where he WILL play as a Freshman. Anyways, this whole article from New Orleans was a “typo” anyways. He meant Ole Miss and not Kentucky. Hope Stoops gets UK back on track this year.

  56. Wow Says:

#18 bet you feel like a total tool now over a typo. Lmao

  57. jonathan Says:

56, no, because it was reported by a reputable site and no one could have known otherwise. regardless, it is an indefensible position to assert that UK’s recruiting hasn’t improved with Stoops. you disagree?

  58. James'SpellCheck'Smith Says:

@#%&* spell check, It seems everytime I put in Kentucky it corrects it to Kentucky, SEE!?!?! Sorry Ole Miss fans….dang WTH stupid spellcheck.

  59. yeahright Says:

Yo Matt, take this article down! We look like schmucks enough as it is.

  60. CatomicBomb Says:

What happened to Researching before posting? Hmm that seems to be something everyone else gets blasted for, isn’t it Ryan? Kick his a** Seabass! lol

J/K at least we were happier for a little while, but yes I agree with #59, take it down and bury it.
