No one expected them to be, but the new AP poll is out and the Cats aren’t on it. Who is? Louisville, who snagged the top spot for only the second time in its school history, the first time during the regular season. Indiana and Duke round out the top three, giving Kentucky fans plenty of material for their dart boards.
For the first time this season, the Cats didn’t even receive a vote. Ouch.

This was expected.

Congrats, Cayuts!
January 14th, 2013 at 2:07 pm
Only the second time in school history? And they think they are on an elite level like UK? That’s comedy.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:08 pm
and the funny part is they made a shirt for it even thought it could change next week http://www.fanoutfitterslouisville.com/men/short-sleeve-tees/uol-we-are-1-ranked-tee-6.html
January 14th, 2013 at 2:09 pm
4 – Now THAT is comedy.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:09 pm
Right where we deserve to be. Ranked teams (and teams getting votes for that matter) beat teams they are favored by double digits over AT HOME.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:12 pm
4 we have stupid shirts too…but good grief this is hilarious! Description: “The #1 spot has come back home!” Back home? You mean the place it’s only been one other time in their history??? LOL@LilBro
January 14th, 2013 at 2:16 pm
L1C4 envy our brief stint over a few year period some 25 to 30 years ago……fear our coach dropping dead from herpes simplex 10 and us getting his unproven son to coach…………..doesnt have the same ring to it as UK, envy our past fear our future
January 14th, 2013 at 2:17 pm
The Cats don’t deserve a vote.
and 7…good one man!
January 14th, 2013 at 2:17 pm
Congrats, to lil bro. Big bro is proud of you. Now act you you’ve been there before.. not just one week in the history if your program.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:19 pm
When was the other time? What year?
January 14th, 2013 at 2:19 pm

It’s ok, we’re going to win out.

11 – the final poll of 2008-09 season, where they went on to the Elite 8
January 14th, 2013 at 2:26 pm
A healthy Duke is still #1, this year and next.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:27 pm
Yesterday, I put the following NCAA tournament tickets up for sale on Stub Hub. 4 @ Dayton, 2@ Indy, 2 @ Washington, 2 @ Arlington and 4 for the Final Four. As you can see, I had a lot of money tied up in the potential paths for Kentucky in the NCAA. I know now, it probably ain’t going to happen. Just hoping I can get my money back.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:32 pm
#17, I would hold onto them just in case the Cats go on a tear, as unlikely as it may seem. Better yet, in the event that the Cards make it to the FF, you can gouge a UL fan and use the money for next year’s FF tickets.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:39 pm
4) Thanks for the laugh! I REALLY hope they drop their next game now. What a joke. Are they aware that some seasons 10 different teams hold that number 1 spot during the regular season. I’ll give them credit for having a good team this year, but I’m embarrassed for them for making those tshirts
January 14th, 2013 at 2:43 pm
Looks like Indiana is the #1 team in Indiana. When you perform at such a high level, it’s hard not to be #1 in Indiana and #2 in the national polls. That number will change come mid March when Indiana takes home almighty #6 and solidifies our institution as undoubtedly the greatest in the history of college basketball. #rollhoosiers #tradition&goldstandard #6 -Creany
January 14th, 2013 at 2:49 pm
19- Yeah, that’s a load of shit..
January 14th, 2013 at 2:52 pm
#15) Yup. Duke with Ryan Kelly is still 15-0 and 7-0 vs RPI Top-50. Coach K has coached 232 weeks at #1. Now that’s a lot of t-shirts.
January 14th, 2013 at 2:53 pm
How does Duke lose to a lower ranked team and by more points than Michigan, yet is ranked above Michigan?
January 14th, 2013 at 2:59 pm
22. Because Pooptooth was hurt and is one of their top 3 players behind Curry and Plumlee. With him playing, they probably beat NC State. I think they’re the best team in the country. That really hurts to say.
January 14th, 2013 at 3:02 pm
15 – Duke was losing that game even if poop tooth was playing. NC St was not going to lose that game at home. Yes, I can admit that Duke is better than us this year, but they weren’t winning that game.
January 14th, 2013 at 3:02 pm
When do we start holding Calipari accountable for the season? He missed on several important recruiting targets last year which left us with the current roster of players and has not developed them. He also fails to make timely game adjustments when needed. I love Cal as much as any UK fan and he just won us a National Championship. However, judged objectively, doesn’t he deserve some criticism for the season? If not, when it is fair to criticize? Perhaps when the team has 10 losses and failed to make the NCAA tourney???
January 14th, 2013 at 3:10 pm
24) I’m not saying Duke was definitely going to beat NC State, but they would’ve stood a better chance with a healthy Kelly. Hell, we were only down 4, with the ball, 3min left when Curry got injured. I’ve seen Curry roast other teams in the final 3 minutes. We’ll win the rematch.
22) Because of Duke’s resume. 7-1 vs RPI Top-50.

I want to announce that UK got 1 vote in the ESPN Power-Rankings.com
You gotta believe !!!

25 – you better watch your mouth
January 14th, 2013 at 3:39 pm
26 I think its funny when people state opinions as facts, so I was just playing around when I posted comment 24. We don’t know who would have won had circumstances been different. This is the same comment I just made but for some reason it was cut thru moderation.
January 14th, 2013 at 3:41 pm
So we are ranked behind aids, al quaeda, and nickelback? What a tough start to the season!!
January 14th, 2013 at 3:47 pm
Even in this poll, Louisville is still #2 at best behind Nickelback. AIDS being a close 3rd.
January 14th, 2013 at 3:50 pm
I would tell Louisville fans to act like they’ve been there before, but they haven’t.
January 14th, 2013 at 3:59 pm
wow. i’ve been watching UK and the tards for many years and i never would have suspected that they’ve been ranked #1 only one time before
January 14th, 2013 at 4:08 pm
25-when his track record shows us that his coaching is suspect then we can criticize, and damn sure not after only 3.3 seasons with an e8, f4, and a nc under his belt. some #1 ranked programs win nc’s every 25 or 26 years but we at UK are accustomed to more frequent titles.
January 14th, 2013 at 4:15 pm
Not being the selfish type, I think this would be a good year for us to relax a little. To be a big player in the Basketball world, one should win the championship at once every quarter century and the top two teams are over due. This would be a good year for one of them to bacome revelant again.
January 14th, 2013 at 4:40 pm
Proof that the end of days is near because clearly Evil is taking over!!!
January 14th, 2013 at 6:38 pm
Got jealousy? BBN does for the Cards.
January 14th, 2013 at 6:43 pm
37 – Jealous of what? That 26 year title drought? Only being ranked #1 twice? Nah, we’re good, thanks.
January 14th, 2013 at 10:14 pm
21-uofl was without dieng for their game (& only loss) against you. see what i did there?
January 14th, 2013 at 11:09 pm
WOW!! It must be so hard for UK fans to accept that there team is less popular than AIDS, AL Qaeda, and Nickelback!!!!! LMFAO!!!!!
January 15th, 2013 at 6:36 am
38 – jealous enough to make a post about it, followed by plenty of teeth gnashing over how your boys just don’t measure up to the Cards. Bet you’re wishing Cal recruited guys to stay more than 1-2 years now, aren’t you?
January 15th, 2013 at 8:10 am

Just take a gander at that top 3, will you? Louisville, Indiana, and Duke. Unbelievable. Ugh. Triple ugh.
