Someone get a video camera in the Rupp Arena locker room pronto, because the postgame talk Kentucky is about to receive from John Calipari should be epic. Elston Turner put the Aggies on his back to the tune of 40 points, and even though the stat sheet reads 14-19 from the field, it seems impossible that he missed 5 shots. On any other night, Nerlens Noel is the player of the game as he tried his best to keep the ‘Cats in the game with an unreal stat line of 15 point, 11 rebounds, 7 blocks, 6 assists, and 4 steals, but no one on UK had any answer for #31 in Maroon. UK pulled ahead by 4 at 62-58 and looked to be wrapping the game up, but A&M outscored the Wildcats 25-9 over the last 5 minutes to seal the game and come away with their first-ever road SEC win, 83-71. Kentucky falls to 10-5 (1-1 SEC), while Texas A&M moves to 12-4 (2-0).

Anyone who says this team is as bad as a Gillispie team must have been as drunk as he was during his coaching tenure. Don’t get me wrong, this team is bad, but his teams were BAD. This team, as bad as they are, could beat a Gillispie team by 15+, mainly because the Gillispie team would be exhausted from the practice two hours before the game, and because his idea of coaching was pretending to stare at his players while looking for chicks in the crowd.

We will be lucky to even be a 16 see in the tournament this year. Sorry just don’t think it’s gonna happen. No signs of team improvement. All I see are individuals. I love our team but they just are not clicking or something! I feel like I could have kept turner from scoring 40 points and I’m a 34 year old white guy!

I guess this is the chance you take when all your highly rated freshman either don’t pan out or are looking ahead & not playing for UK. They saw a pro today. Poythress = Lazy. Goodwinn = poor mental capacity. Wiltjer = concrete block feet. Mays = stop gap til next year. Noel = STUD. WCS = work in progress that has a lot to learn. Bench = NOTHING. The lack of a bench kills this team. Poythress knows coach HAS to play him.

I got bashed for saying IF we make the Ncaa tourney after the Vandy win. I am a fan but also realistic and I just don’t see it from this group. Nerlens is only guy that plays his heart out each play and just one guy playing that way will not win. Only thing giving me hope is SEC is really bad so we might, might end up with a good enough record to sneak in. We just beat Vandy who has double digit home losses to Villanova, Marist and Davidson. Plus lost to MTSU and blown out vs Oregon and Butler. We beat them by 2. A&M has lost at home to Southern and Oklahoma and blown out at home by St Louis. Yet they handle us in our building with ease except for one UK run. Baylor lost at home to Colorado, Coll of Charleston and Northwestern yet beat us in our building. We have one quality win, maybe, in Maryland. Only other chances for quality wins are the 2 vs UF and we ain’t winning in G’ville. Scares me but I am worried about making tourney and everyone should think the same way.

Well, the third member of last years draft was sent to the D league today. The NBA will stop drafting our supposed super stars if this trend keeps up. I blame this team, but believe me, Cal gets fifty percent of the blame. He acts like an idiot on the sidelines. You can easlily hear him over the announcers. I have never seen a coach carry on like that. I played high school ball, and we received instruction from our coach, but if he acted even half like Cal, we would have been total wrecks. Recruits will see this, and he will start losing them. What player in their right mind would want to listen to this for 40 minutes? This team defintely needs to improve, but so does the idiot patrolling the coaches box.

OK fair weather fans. relax. It may seem hard to believe but we played well tonight. We still need to get Alex going and I don’t know what to do about Kyle but you just got to chalk it up to the fact that A&M could have pulled a lucky charm out of their ass tonight and made it gold. Turner couldn’t miss anything. It’s not like we left him wide open. the kid was hitting fall aways from 35 feet. I said we would go no worse than 12-4. that may be 11-5 now but maybe we can win won on the road we aren’t supposed to (missouri, ole miss, or Florida). Harrow is playing great, Noel is too, Cauley-Stein got in foul trouble tonight but he will learn from it. Louisville won’t be #1 for long and for God’s sake quit worrying about them. They have 2 banners. WE HAVE 8!!! wait til march. if we are still losing then I will come back on here and apologize to each of you.

the crowd at rupp is a major issue. no one even cheers unless we go on a run. by far the softest place to play in major programs. no one is loud, crazy, and intimidating to visitors.

What I saw today was a bunch of guys (not a TEAM) quit on themselves and their coach. I feel so bad for Nerlens as he, and to some extent Harrow, were the only ones who tried to play together. I have to take the glasses off and see that this group of CATS he not melded together well and are pretty much looking out for themselves. Almost half the season is over. They might figure it out, but by then it will likely be too late. Right now, they are an NIT team, at best. The 2010-11 team had heart and desire. This team has not showed any of that, except for Nerlens.

1) We should have known we were in trouble when Wiltjer was supposed to be our offensive powerhouse this year. If he can’t hit an open 3, he’s a negative player.
2) The only players who look to give a crap are Noel, Harrow, and WCS. None of them should be a “primary” scoring option.
3) Goodwin and Poythress simply aren’t ready to be the “go-to guy” this year. Both of them will have games they show up, but they have no killer instinct and are still figuring out how to play the college game.
4) If this game doesn’t wake them up, I’m not convinced anything will. We could easily lose 5 more conference games and be hosting an NIT game at Memorial this year.
5*) Those criticizing “chicken little’s” and saying “We just won a National Championship!” are missing the point. That was last year; this year’s rendition of Big Blue would lose 10 out of 10 games to last years squad. I’m happy as the next guy we’re defending National Champs, but at this rate the only thing we’ll be defending is our NIT loss to Mid-Major U.
6) Maybe I’m naive, but I really think this might be the team’s ceiling this year. I don’t blame Cal, because I think this is all they’ve got. If he gets more out of them and we go on a tear, it will be his BEST coaching job to date.

Talentwise, this team is better than Gillispie’s teams, no doubt, but effort wise about the same. That’s the key. I can take losses if I feel the guys are giving effort and doing their best. I don’t think that. This team lacks heart and desire. If you could take the talent from this team and input the heart from Pitino’s first team, I would take that in a heartbeat.

Another “X” factor we are missing this year that is holding us back from being a *decent* team: We don’t have ANYONE who looks capable of being our shut-down defender this year. In year’s past, we could point to MKG, Liggins, Miller, or even Teague to get up in someone’s grill and make their life a living hell. Not a single guy out there seems to understand BALL DENIAL, and don’t tell me they don’t have the athleticism to do it. The only think that these guys don’t have is HEART.
