I posted this 2 hours ago. Senior leader that carries a The load of an SEC team, against a struggling UK team see also Devan Downey, although I do feel more comfortable at Rupp, the young Cats have proven that to not be a given this year! I look for this one to be extremely tough. Texas A & M will be looking to make a statement of sorts for their first road SEC game against a vulnerable Kentucky team. If Kyle Wiltjer has to knock down a few trey’s and play atleast 10 minutes of defense, Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress must show up, or Cal could be handed his first SEC home loss..

A lot of valid points being made but not sure where all the hate for Cal is coming from? Hell he has .862 winning percentage at UK and we just won a championship with freshman now everyone is moaning about his style and system??? His style and system has not changed, this is just not the type of freshman we’ve had the past couple years. Good news is a bunch of these guys will have to come back and if they do they will be fighting for playing time next year.

We’ll be okay whoever that player is going off won’t be after half. 25 pts is crazy for anybody to get in a half in any kind of league. I did like how Wiltjer was going out to cover a open guy shooting a 3 but stoped himself to block out for the rebound.

25 – Cal did NOT win last year’s championship by relying on freshmen to the same extent that he is relying on freshmen this year – or presumably will be next year.
Last year’s NCAA Title was indeed earned tahnks to the effots of freshmen like Teague, Davis and MKG – but don’t discount the invaluable contributions of returners like Lamb, Jones and Miller. Without those three – or even dare say – just one of those three – UK doesn’t even get to the final four.

Meanwhile – you UK fans who continue to drink the Kool-aid – can switch over to ESPN to watch Wiggins. It’s a shame UK has fallen to the point where we’re more concerned about high school players than the guys currently on the court.

Everybody wanted to break S. Woods down after the Sandy telethon about his statements about these kids. He was right. They have no passion, they aren’t close like previous Cal teams, and you can tell they aren’t even having fun playing ball. 10-12 losses this year, and we are going to have a scholly issue next year; some of these kids are coming back and aren’t supposed to b here next year.

43 – you have to combine talent with experience – and there are so many teams currently in the NCAA who are doing just that.
Don’t be confused – I was NEVER a fan of Billy Clyde. He was a joke from the very beginning. Tubby I liked. He was a solid coach.
Cal must recruit kids who will be committed to staying at UK for 3-4 years. But why would a 3-4 star player come to Kentucky – knowing that he’d never get a chance to play.
Cal’s system is truly all or nothing. If the freshmen aren’t quite as advertised, or….if they play like freshmen – this and future UK teams will struggle.

For anyone blaming Cal that is crazy. The kids have to wake up and wanna play ball. They played great against Duke and was 17 down to Louisville and made a good comeback, so the team can play when they want to, they need to wake the hell up and play. Plain and simple.

50, I agree 100% but would really expect kids like WCS to go pro this year? Harrow is in his 3rd year in college and Wiljter was a McDonald all American and, 4 year player and everyone hates him now but he is the kind of kid we need. I guess my point is more often than not with Cal we are going to get the best of the best recruits but you are correct, we need a couple guys that are 2 to 4 year players. I agree, Tubby was a great x and o coach but I think UK wore him out, he was tired when he left. Most importantly, what is the bourbon of choice tonight?

All of you people saying such terrible things about these players and our team should be ashamed to call themselves “UK Fans”. This UK team obviously has potential, as we played a lot of big teams down to the wire. Losing a conference game at home shouldn’t be “embarrassing”, shit happens. Elston Turner had the game of his life, and part of it comes down to poor defense but part of it is him just having a phenomenal game. This is a team of primarily freshmen and just because they haven’t gelled as much as Cal’s previous UK primarily freshmen teams. If they don’t end up being much this year then so be it, most of the guys will stay and we should be ridiculous next year. However, calling these kids names and hoping “they lose the rest of their games” is embarrassing on YOUR part, grow up and support your local team. I’m sure they aren’t enjoying this any more than you are. Go Cats.

I think Cal’s not totally innocent in what’s happened lately. His attitude is negative and it’s rubbing off. Poythress is not doing what he wants, but him being in the game helped them get in a position to win, and then got benched for Wiltjer who didn’t help them at all today. I like all these guys, but perfection can’t be expected.

Without Turners ridiculous performance today Cats would have won by double digits easy . I still believe in Cal and believe he will have this tram ready by March for a run in the SEC and NCAA tourneys. We will get another shot at them this season and no way Turner puts up that many points again . I say aim for finishing top 4 in SEC so we can have a 2 round bye in SEC tourney and that will give us momentum going into post season play .

Everybody keeps saying these guys are staying next year and your wrong none of these guys are staying except maybe harrow and his stock is rising faster than anybody’s. you keep saying next year will be better but with again 0 upper class men next year won’t be as bad as missing the tourn this year but they won’t be much better.

That’s the worst team i have ever seen in the last 5 minutes. They have no go to guy at the end of games. And it has cost us alot of games and will happen alot more. We are in deep sewage with that lineup at the end of games. We cant shoot freethrows for crap. Cal really is frustrated. Where would this team be had Noel not reclassified.

calm down. we won a NC last year, preceeded by a final four and an elite 8. this team is struggling, but season isn’t over yet. for old school and all the UL fans, we have have much more success last few years than everyone else, so yes, i can live off that for a while. enjoy your year, cause the storm is coming next year.

Sooner or later the reloading with freshman model will burn you, and

I predict his thinking will be re-formulated, and not be so quick
to just load up with a bunch of freshman.
If we did not have Darius and the other non-freshman last year, we
never would have won it all…They fueled MKG and the rest of them.

Get real guys. UK is not going to be #1 and go undefeated in the SEC regular season every season . Cal still has a lot of work to do with this team and they have a long way to go. You can’t give up on them 2 games into conference play. Turner had a game of a lifetime tonight and give props to him for stepping up and being the leader his team needed. Unfortunately his performance outshined Noels tonight. Give this team more time before you give up on them.

People calm down. This is not a good team, but Tubby took over a dynasty and left it in mediocrity. And Clyde took over a mediocre team and turned it to a nit team. Cal has gave us a team that we can at least get excited about every year, which we haven’t had since Pitino. This team may not get there, but next years damn sure will. Go Cats!
