KSR and UK Alumni groups across the country are teaming up to raise money for DanceBlue while getting together to watch the Cayts. Gamewatch parties are already in the works through UK alumni in Houston, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, New York, Charlotte, Austin, Louisville, Atlanta, Chicago, Birmingham and Washington D.C., and the fine people of Dallas are kicking it all off with a party for tomorrow’s game against Texas A&M.
If you’re in the Dallas area, head over to Christie’s Bar & Grill in Uptown to hang out with fellow members of Big Blue Nation for a long day of SEC basketball. Christie’s will be donating a portion of the money spent between the hours of 12 pm and 9 pm to Dance Blue. The DFW alumni group will also be writing letters of encouragement to their student dance team, KEA (Kentucky Education Association-Student Program), and donation buckets will be around for those who wish to donate. Visit the Facebook event page for more details.
DanceBlue is a student-run philanthropy at the University of Kentucky. It is a year-long fundraising effort involving thousands of UK students, which culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on UK’s campus. All of the money raised by DanceBlue goes to the Golden Matrix Fund. DanceBlue has been active for over seven years, raising more than 3 million dollars for the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Clinic and Markey Cancer Center. Every year, over 120 campus organizations and 700 dancers help raise money to support all the DanceBlue families.
