There will be no repeat winner of the John R. Wooden Award at Kentucky. The 25-man midseason list was released, and it does not include any Wildcats. Last season Anthony Davis took home the trophy, while collecting myriad other accolades.
Kentucky is not represented, but the Commonwealth is. Murray State guard Isaiah Canaan was a Wooden All-American last season, a member of the nation’s top 10 players, and he remains on the list again this year. Louisville guard Russ Smith is also on the list.
There were only three freshmen who made the 25-man list: Anthony Bennett (UNLV), Ben McLemore (Kansas), and Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State).
The Southeastern Conference was nearly snubbed altogether if it weren’t for newcomer Missouri. Only two SEC players made the list, guard Phil Pressey and forward Laurence Bowers, who are both Tigers.

I do not appreciate this list.

Maybe not a UK name on the list this year, but when Alex and Ryan return to join the new class it will be like last year all over. Alex and Ryan will equal T. Jones and Lamb. Kyle will be out Darius Miller.

Not sure if it’s me but I have seen this mentioned a few times in the past week (ESPN & FoxSports).
Ummm…I don’t get it. Yeah AD won it last year and it’s unusual fo a school to have someone once not alone twice in history. So…..why do we always hear…”–and no one from UK is mentioned”??? I umm….Dudes, it’s not like we were thinking we were to begin with.
Anyway…kinda shaking my head as a passing thought.

Never understood why they had to finalize a list. What if someone really takes off the second half of the year and was just good enough the first half???

The numbers prove it. According to this, Nerlens Noel is the best player in the SEC.

WOW, and I just noticed that according to that, Nerlens is also the best defensive player in the country!

I voted for Stephen Pearl last year.

What’s this crap about UK offering Dajuan Coleman’s family a house? Hope it’s just bs.

I had to look up Dajuan Coleman. I couldn’t even remember who he was. lol
January 11th, 2013 at 3:01 pm
Yeah, who would we have that would qualify for that? Nerlens? Not enough offensive production (which I am completely fine with).
BTW, listened to Murray St. get DRILLED by EKU a few days ago on radio. Wow.

So again, tell me how how all our freshmen are projected first round draft picks maybe three of them lottery picks and none are on the watch list? I just don’t understand why these GMs get so in to our players. If these four freshmen were that good don’t you think we could be a God awful Vandy team more than 2 points/
