[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]

I think it’s safe to say T.J. Jones, a freshman offensive tackle at Kentucky, isn’t making a good first impression with his new head coach, Mark Stoops. Jones was arrested on Friday for an incident that occurred over Christmas break in Myrtle Beach, his hometown. He is facing charges for carrying a gun on school property.

From WMBF News:
On Friday, 19-year-old Timothy Jevon “T.J.” James was arrested by Myrtle Beach Police and charged with a weapon law violation.
The incident report states that on Dec. 18, police investigated a weapon law violation at Myrtle Beach High on Robert Grissom Parkway.
The “possible incident that occurred in the locker room” was reported three days later, but the details on the conclusion of the investigation resulting in Jones’ arrest were not available.

Your move, Stoops.

January 7th, 2013 at 5:30 pm
In light if newtown and common sense this kid needs to just have his parents come get his personal effects and enjoy prison life
January 7th, 2013 at 5:31 pm
Before we jump all over this kid, I’d like to know what a “weapons charge violation” means. On school property, in Myrtle Beach? Incident in the locker room? It’s easy to fly off the handle, but these terms are very generic. It’s not like he used the gun on someone, but if he was brandishing it then that’s pretty thuggish. I’ll hold judgement on this one until I hear details. Hope everyone else does the same.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:33 pm
He has to go!
January 7th, 2013 at 5:34 pm
Number 8 if he took a gun on school prop he has to go!
January 7th, 2013 at 5:39 pm
Wait, WMBF report says T.J. *JAMES*. They got the wrong kid!
January 7th, 2013 at 5:40 pm
Why do people just fly off the handle before they have all the facts? He is one of ours and we should have his back. If he screwed up that bad and had to leave UK, then so be it. So much for BBN. Live it, don’t just type it.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:40 pm
@ #4 & #8…..are you kidding? Clearly the kid had a firearm at a high school, what’s the confusion? Show the kid the door. We owe him nothing. There is no excuse for having a firearm at a school, I thought by now everyone would be on board with this type of thinking.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:41 pm
Unless he was wrongly accused. It’s hard to have someone’s back that makes that kind if decision.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:46 pm
#11 right person just a typo in the text…
January 7th, 2013 at 5:48 pm
15 – Was trying to add a little humor. Sorry….
Sucks for the team – let’s see what Stoops decides to do. I trust our coach will make the right decision.

My bad Skinny..
January 7th, 2013 at 5:52 pm
8/12–he was carrying a gun on high school property, in the locker room. unless the whole story is untrue, it’s pretty cut and dry. pretty hard to sugar coat and rationalize something like that.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:55 pm
Sounds like something a UT player/recruit would do haha.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:58 pm
Tell him to stay in Florida.
January 7th, 2013 at 5:58 pm
we’re finally in the big leagues
January 7th, 2013 at 6:11 pm

He will be gone b/c im sure Stoops know of the incident that happened last semester when he got into with some UK police. CYA

January 7th, 2013 at 6:32 pm
He looks like a fine upstanding young man. I find it hard to believe he would ever get into trouble.
January 7th, 2013 at 6:47 pm
19- Ha! No problem my friend!
January 7th, 2013 at 6:54 pm
News story doesn’t mention a firearm, just a weapons law violation. Lots of things could be a weapons law violation.
January 7th, 2013 at 6:57 pm
Why do so many young men think its cool to be a thug ?? Tatoos piercings an attitude like the man is gonna get them… I just can’t understand, college is to grow and learn find yourself get a leg up … The state of college athletics sickens me not at one school but all of them would like to see no woody Vince Alonzo stagg some of the founders of true college ball come back and see this meltdown of youth … These fools are role models to young kids and I worked hard to get my education and went on to be half ass successful and ill be dipped in $4it if unwound hire a bunch of thugs as junior engineers into our corporation…. I bet if the nfl and the nba etc along with the NCAA made rules regarding taping over tatoos and Skoal cans in their ears let them set on the curb and watch their THUG heroes smoke and snort their brains and lives away possibly we could turn this thing positive …
January 7th, 2013 at 7:24 pm
Even if he’s not on the team, we have other weapons. Everyone needs to remember that.
January 7th, 2013 at 7:35 pm
Thought “innocent until proven guilty” was still the law of the land. Apparently some posters didn’t pass their US Gov class. Spring training is weeks away. Give time for the facts to be vetted.
January 7th, 2013 at 8:49 pm
Appears to have graduated high school with Everett Golson.
January 7th, 2013 at 8:57 pm

January 7th, 2013 at 11:20 pm

January 8th, 2013 at 12:12 am
I wouldn’t mind inviting the young man over to shoot guns at my private shotting range out in the country. God Bless the young man and pass the ammunition!
January 8th, 2013 at 7:53 am

January 8th, 2013 at 8:09 am
Stoops should issue guns to the whole team, then MAYBE they can compete with WKU.
January 8th, 2013 at 2:16 pm
This clown had exactly two offers when he signed w/UK. The other being East Carolina. I guess if you reach for the low-hanging fruit, you will get low-hanging fruit.
