ICYMI: Best of KSR College

by @ 6:45 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

It’s that awkward time of day between the end of work at the beginning of the BCS Championship Game featuring Alabama and Notre Dame- or, if you’re Matt Jones, The Bachelor season premiere. Kill some time by catching up on the best of KSR College from the past few days.

-Andrew McCarthy did me a solid and dedicated the Monday Basketball News to Blue Ivy Carter. Still waiting on my birthday party invitation, Jay.

-With the recruitment of Dakari Johnson securely locked up, it’s time to ask the obligatory question: How Does the Class of 2013 Compare to UK’s Previous Four Classes? (via David Mulloy)

-This weekend, my dad and a Tennessee alum (not the same person) both tried to tell me that in twenty years, Kentucky fans won’t remember this era’s one-and-done players. I think that’s bull.

-Wilder Treadway is back with his Musings of the SEC men’s and women’s basketball teams. Highlights include Auburn and Kentucky women streaking. NO, not like that, guys.

-Brooks Holton did us all a favor and summed up Cats in the NFL playoffs through yesterday and looking ahead to this weekend. He also included the greatest Tim Masthay pictures and caption I’ve ever seen.

oops! I hit “submit” too soon.

I meant to say I GUARANTEE you I’ll remember AD, MKG and company, and anyone else who helps hang a NC banner!

    Oh, and FIRST! :-)

That is one sexy dude…yum yum.

  4. pro scout Says:

In twenty years Kentucky fans won’t remember this era of ‘one and done’ players. For about 90% of the people that call themselves a part of BBN, this IS a true statement. That does not mean they will totally forget every player, it just means that the players, it just means that 9 months is not long enough to build lasting impressions. If they don’t have extended NBA careers, the memory will fade quickly. It’s hard for a 20 year old to comprehend this, but I watched UK in Memorial Gym in the early 60′s and have been a UK fan all my life. Twenty five years is a long time to remember players that stayed 4 years. But ‘in and out’ in 9 months, even if they were Anthony Davis, memories fade.

  5. Big Whoop Says:

#4- speak for yourself. If 9 months was long enough to win a championship, it is certainly long enough to maintain a life-time memory. I, for one, will never forget the likes of AD, MKG, Jones, Lamb and those from the other teams since the one-and-done era came to UK. You can forget Wall, Cousins, Liggins, Harrellson, Knight and Patterson if that’s your mindset. Me? I’ll always remember those guys just as much as I remember the “Unforgetables” and the Fabulous Five even though I was only three years old when they played. It is part of the tradition and you weren’t there to actually see it, there is plenty of material available to see or read to become knowledgeable. UK’s tradition is handed down from generation to generation. If you forget the 9 month players that, imo, is a choice and not an inevitability.
