Depending on the rest of our 14 class and any returns from 13, it’ll be interesting to see how much Cal can let him post up or shoot from outside. He’ll only be here 1 year unless NBA does a 2-year rule. Like many Cal recruits, he’ll still have upside when he gets picked in the lottery. Develop his shot against quality opponents and he can earn Durant comparisons.
Towns will be better than Durant. Yes I know a bold statement. I say this because yeah Durant will go out and get you 30-35 points a night but he’s only going to grab 3 rebounds and have 2-3 assists. Towns will be averaging a double double once he is in the league.
ok, towns is my boy and all, but Durant is avg 28 pts, 8 rebs, and 4 ast, so chill on that Durant only scores argument and that Towns will be better than him. That’s just foolish to say this early on in his development.
Gotta love having a player that can pull down a defensive rebound and throw an accurate outlet pass quickly. We are going to be the national championship favorites in 2013-14 AND 2014-15.
8. Seriously? Durant averages about 8 rebounds a game and is MUCH faster than towns. He is also a better handler. Towns is good but no way is he nearly as good as Durant. When it is all said and done, Durant will be a top 25 player all time.
Durant also couldn’t bench press 135 out of college… he was frail and more of a perimeter player in HS and Texas. While Towns looks like a more physical presence.
I hate comparison to any player over 6’9″ that can handle the ball and will shoot from outside of 10 ft is suddenly compared to Durant.
Keep it in perspective – he’s an elite talent playing against small teenagers. Attempting any comparison to Durant, AD or any other college or pro player is senseless and puts too much pressure on a young mind. He’s good folks – a man among boys, no doubt. But there is so much to be seen when he’s playing against equally big, strong, fast, talented players. Remember, he got cut from the Dominican Olympic team. The most impressive film I have seen on him is the interview he did with ESPN. He speaks and presents himself better than most professional adults I know, much less student and pro athletes. His best asset is between his ears! We’re lucky to have him – by the time it’s over, perhaps Cal’s best recruit ever. We’ll see…

Shades of AD! Lookin’ like a point guard on some of those passes.

That’s unreal…

Even Ice Cube didn’t f*ck around and get a quadruple double…

This is the first video I’ve watched of Towns where I’ve been legitimately impressed. There’s honestly a lot of Tim Duncan in his game.

Anyone else hearing the very beginning “When The Levee Breaks” in the background music?

He should have kissed 10 cheerleaders so that he would have the legendary quintuple double.
