-After last night’s defeat from the hands of Louisville, ESPN.com’s Myron Medcalf gave his take on the game in rapid recap form. Surprise, free-throw shooting was listed as the key statistic.
-In Jeff Goodman’s recap of the game, he claimed this victory for Louisville “may be a season changer.” After their first victory in five attempts, the Cardinals “will now enter Big East play with swagger instead of questioning itself.”
-The Telegraph (middle Georgia’s news source) claimed that both teams could find positives from last night’s contest. Citing the near 17-point comeback as the reason for Kentucky fans to be pleased going forward.
-In PJStar.com’s college basketball roundup, the Commonwealth’s rivalry got all the attention. In the article Russ Smith was quoted as saying “this one probably ranks as one of the top five biggest wins of my life.” The piece also gives brief summaries of other important games around college basketball from yesterday.
-In other news, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis matched up against one another in Charlotte last night. While Davis finished with 18 points on 9-11 shooting from the field, he was out-shined by Kidd-Gilchrist individually. He scored 22 and pulled down 9 rebounds. After the game Kidd-Gilchrist stated, ”I had it going a little bit. That’s going against my best friend, so of course it’s special.” Unfortunately, the Bobcats dropped their 18th straight.
-John Wall took “a step forward” this week after being cleared to practice. Wall has missed the entire NBA season with a stress injury to his knee. In the Washington Post’s article, Wall’s coach was encouraged from his play in individual drills and even stated his efforts were ”a step in the (right) direction.”
