Seven of ESPN.com’s finest recruiting analysts broke down Andrew Wiggins’ recruitment and predicted where they think he’ll end up dunking on people in college. Four picked Florida State. Two picked Kentucky.
Dave Telep: Florida State
Paul Biancardi: North Carolina
Reggie Rankin: Kentucky
Adam Finkelstein: Kentucky
Joel Francisco: Florida State
Mike LaPlante: Florida State
John Stovall: Florida State
I like Reggie Rankin and Adam Finkelstein. Those are great guys.

UNC really a factor here?
December 13th, 2012 at 2:27 pm
I don’t trust ESPN when it comes to recruiting. He might very well end up at FSU but I doubt any of these guys know anything we don’t know.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:29 pm
Tell me that WCS, Poythress and Wiltjier all return next year you can keep this kid. Let him go shoot 35 times a game and lose at Florida state.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:29 pm
This is just 7 people guessing. They know nothing. So I’ll guess too… Kentucky! I’d hate to hear that the best player in the country wants to lay low at an awful program where he’ll average 25 pts and play in the NIT if he’s lucky. Also, if he goes to FSU you will only get to see him on TV maybe 2-3 times during the season if you’re lucky.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:31 pm
Poythress is the most NBA ready player on our team. By ready I mean his body, shooting, speed, everything scouts look for. He’s gone for sure with Noel. Barely hope for Goodwin, but I doubt he stays. And I’ll take Wiggins over Wiltjer and WCS times 10.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:36 pm
Get real… He’s a kentucky lock
December 13th, 2012 at 2:38 pm
As Cal has said before, UK is not for everyone. I’m not saying he doesn’t come here, because I still think we get him at the end of the day, but it also wouldn’t surprise me if he went to Florida State.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:40 pm
So ESPN is saying half naked girls work for recruiting.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:41 pm
Coach Cal sure is spending alot of time recruiting this kid. It doesnt appear he feels very confident about this kid leaning UK at the moment. Sure hope we get him when this whole recruiting dance is said and done.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:47 pm
I think he will go to Kentucky. He cant win a national Championship at Florida State. He wont get to play on T.V. as much as at Kentucky. Basketball plays second fiddle to Football. When it comes down to it his parents will want whats best for him. That my friend is the big Show. KENTUCKY.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:52 pm
Why in the world would he go to FSU over Kentucky? Yeah, they’ve been whoring girls for him, and yeah he has family connections, but that’s it. Plus, his dad said he wasn’t pushing him to go there. FSU isn’t a great program; it’s not bad, but he won’t get much better competing in practice there. Absolutely everything we have is state-of-the-art: coaching, fans, stadium, players, locker rooms, dorms, girls, you name it.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:54 pm
Who really cares….FSU sucks…..he knows it, we know it, FSU knows it. Just go ask Shabazz how its working out for him. At UK We Hang Banners
December 13th, 2012 at 2:56 pm
I’m watching re-run ESPN FirstTake, and Rob Parker called RG III a “CornBall Brother”. What is that?
December 13th, 2012 at 2:56 pm
Whores have ruined many a man, and are the reasons for many bad decision you’ll pay for later
December 13th, 2012 at 2:57 pm
Think with your HEAD Andrew!!!
December 13th, 2012 at 2:58 pm
10/11 – Its not always about winning a title with these kids though. If being on ESPN, program prestige, and winning titles were all that mattered than all the top kids would have a final list of UK, UNC, Duke, and Kansas. There are McDonald’s All American’s every year that choose to play ball at schools like Alabama, Maryland, or even places like FSU. That doesn’t mean that FSU is as good of a basketball program, but going to the best school to win a title isn’t what’s most important to every kid.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:00 pm
Ding dong the big east is dead.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:00 pm
We need UK Bikini Girl to “show” Andrew around campus. hehe
December 13th, 2012 at 3:02 pm
These talking heads on ESPN and other sports venues know less about what is happening in the world of sports than the average Joe. Wiggins may well go to FSU but these guys have no insight into that eventuality whatsoever.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:02 pm
Why do they always put this retarded picture up when they talk about Wiggins?
December 13th, 2012 at 3:03 pm
that would be such a bad idea for wiggins to go to FSU. i try not to be subjective here, but even UNC would be a better choice for him. As high a caliber player as he is he would look much better surrounded by players on or near his level. If he goes to FSU, the talent surrounding him would detract from his accomplishments on court. i know raythan-mayes is going but thats one player. Name one more player thats capable of going in the lottery from FSU. you cant and Wiggins will suffer because of it. perfect example is shabazz and i guarantee shabazz will not be in a good position come july because of his choice to play for UCLA.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:06 pm
These ESPN guys might as well have used a random number generator to come up with those opinions at this point. It’s fun to prognosticate so why not do it, right? But in truth, they don’t know any more than the rest of us do. Yes he has the familial link to FSU but don’t believe anything you read until you hear it come from his own mouth.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:06 pm
You have to also consider that the exposure with FSU pales in comparison to the exposure he would get at UK or even UNC. I just hope Wiggins doesn’t let his parents dictate the choices he makes for his future. Financially, wiggins may be in the same position come draft time but consider the implications of not completely being prepared for being drafted at that level.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:08 pm
We need to tell Wiggins if he comes to Kentucky he will get a jock strap as part of his standard basketball gear.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:08 pm
16. Yeah, you’re right, I know it’s not all that matters. IMO it should, but that’s rarely the case. He has stated he wants to get as good as he can, and that won’t happen there.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:10 pm
Look, you guys are reading too much into all this. He’s not deciding until Spring… so if Archie and Alex go, he’s coming, if one of them stays, he’s going to FSU. This isn’t rocket science.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:10 pm
I’m with Johnny Short, if he doesn’t go to UK, then I hope he goes to either Transylvania or Georgetown and stays all 4 years. You’re all great americans!
December 13th, 2012 at 3:17 pm
He’ll be a Cat.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:17 pm
Thank you #16. Some of these comments show why UK fans are hated. Why are you saying FSU sucks #12, because they actually have a pretty good program and put a major butt whipping on UNC last year. Lenard Hamilton is a good coach who has put players in the NBA maybe not to the level as Cal but he is a good coach with a NBA back ground. #3 do you really think FSU would lose a lot of games if Wiggins goes there? I hope we get him and would never bet against Cal, never! But Cal can’t get them all if this kid does chose FSU wish him luck stay classy
December 13th, 2012 at 3:24 pm
…vertical!
December 13th, 2012 at 3:27 pm
29.) first off Wiggins isnt going to make FSU win games. If so, why are UCLA and us struggling. He might put up better numbers at FSU, but he will bedouble teamed and will have to work much harder to win a game. And no one is saying FSU sucks, but you are insane to act like they have much of a program. They have done well the past 3 to 5 years, and well to them is a sweet sixteen and an upset each year. Hardly what i would call a big time or honestly even good basketball school.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:31 pm
I am now depressed. I have no value in this world if Andrew Wiggins goes to FSU.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:42 pm
Most of your average to good teams do a fairly good job of being able to shut down at least one player. Wiggins takes the court for FSU and he is taking a double team until the season is over. look at lebron when he was cleveland, he did good things, but never acheived want he has at Miami. Its ridiculous to say these kids dont care about winning, they do.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:44 pm
same goes for Kobe, lakers were crap last year.
December 13th, 2012 at 3:45 pm
Hell, anyone can guess….. only Wiggins knows………..
December 13th, 2012 at 3:56 pm
Best part is, if he does pic fsu, we still grab randle or Gordon
December 13th, 2012 at 4:01 pm
#31 First off your talking about a 17 year old kid, do you really think he cares what either program did 10 or 15 years ago. There is 2 ways to look at success. First way which I assume you like my self would consider playing for a contending team with other good players a success. Kinda like last year when having other great players benifted all those kids. That intells less time and less shots. If he choses UK he will be anther great player on a good team.
Now there is anther mind set. You can go somewhere and be the man. Shoot 20 shots and be the focal point of the program. He will make FSU a top 10 team next year maybe even top 5. Probably would be one of the greatest to ever play at FSU.
I’m sure you like myself would chose UK. We are life long fans and see no other school. This kid is from Canada and probably knew very little about UK untill the las 3 or 4 years. So as much as we want him at UK no one should be surprised if he chooses FSU and hopefully some don’t act like Dbags and leave bad messages on his Facebook page etc.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:15 pm
Even Cal will tell you, this program is not for everyone, so if a young man decides to go somewher it’s probably because he felt more comfortable. It’s not a slap at Kentucky every time we miss out on a recruit. I have alot of respect for Coach Hamilton, he brought most of the top notch talent to Kentucky In the 80′s. He’s had pretty good success in a football crazy state at both Miami and FSU.
Where ever Wiggins decides to take his talents i wish him the best.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:17 pm
Both parents are FSU alums.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:17 pm
FSU a good program?!?! Losses to South Alabama and Mercer for a team that supposedly was going to contend for an ACC title? Plus getting killed by Minnesota and Florida? Yeah they punded UNC and won the ACC Tourney last yr but they also lost to Harvard and Princeton. They BARELY squeaked by St. Bonnaventure in the 1st round as a 3 seed when many were predicting them in the final four and got beat by 6 seed Cincinnati. If there is one thing you can count on Lenard Williams to do its vastly underachieve when there are any sort of expectations.
Kid will be as dumb as a box of rocks to go to FSU. Look at Shabazz. Lesson learned. At FSU he is not going to be challenging for a title. At UNC its possible to challenge for a title but he will be the man getting double teamed. At UK not only does he have a shot at a title, but also college basketball history. Even if we just got him and Dakari Johnson we have the potential to not lose a game. No other school can offer that, national exposure every game, top quality competition in practice, and a chance to be a part of the best draft class to come from 1 school of all time. Wiggins would go #1, Both Harrisons are projected top 10, James Young is a lottery pick, Marcus Lee is a first rounder and Dakari Johnson is in the 1st rd, then you have Wiltjer who will be 2nd round and if Cauley stays (unlikely) he will be drafted late 1st rd, early 2nd. Then if UK steals Gordon or Randle in place of Dakari thats another top 10 pick. Thats 6 in the 1st round, possibly 7 or 8 overall, and if you replace Dakari with Randle or Gordon thats 4, possibly 5 in the top 10.
NO OTHER UNIVERSITY CAN OFFER THAT! NONE!
December 13th, 2012 at 4:25 pm
If that’s him leaving his feet on defense, he already looks like one of ours.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
#40 you are precisely the fans I’m talking about. FSU has a good program. By your words UK has lost to 2 unranked teams and really hasn’t looked at that good in other games, so I guess we suck and no kid should consider coming to UK. Grow up man we might get this kid or we might not but if he chooses to go to FSU it’s not a bad choice. It will be where the kid wants to go.
Just please don’t put any stupid messages on his face book or twiter. All that does is make all UK fans look like D- bags. Try to remember as hard as it is for some to get everybody isn’t a UK fan.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:49 pm
#15, ditto, and hopefully he thinks with his big head and not the little one…
December 13th, 2012 at 6:10 pm
This could be bad because Dave Telep is usually right on and he is pro- Kentucky for sure.
December 13th, 2012 at 6:23 pm
Trust in Cal. He usually gets what he wants.
December 13th, 2012 at 6:54 pm
He can go to FSU and be the man and get double or triple teamed more often than not.
Or he can go to UK and shine because he has other top talent complementing him and challenging him in practice.
December 13th, 2012 at 9:25 pm
IMO I don’t believe any of these guys know. I believe that by saying FSU they will get some web hits from BBN. Everyone keep calm Cal is our coach. I have all the confidence that Cal will get him.
December 14th, 2012 at 3:03 pm
“at UK we hang banners”????? LOL, UK has one banner in the last how many years???? Give me a break. UK gets the best talent every year and has 1 chip to show for it. And you know damn well they aren’t winning with this squad this year!
December 14th, 2012 at 5:35 pm
To whatever number that said he would get double teamed at unc u know nothing about unc… pj hairiston and reggie bullock reside there as does leslie mcdonald all very capable scorers. If u dounle wiggins who is. 6’8 u will leave the 6’7 bullock 6’5 pj 6’6 mcdonald open… so try again at unc he would compete for s national title just like at ky… on a side note I feel bad for u guys those young players this yr are taking a minute to get it together but they will… and if they dont it will be a heck of a ream nexr yr… only certai. Schoold can recruit like rhat ans they are all blue bloods best of luxk ky
December 14th, 2012 at 10:52 pm
you wankers at UK think just cause you won a championship last year for the first time in a couple of decades that you will keep on reeling them in LOFL!!!! Cal is a mediocre coach on his best day and Wiggins will have more success at UNC!! Hey UK you ain’t winning another NC any time soon with Calshady!!!
December 15th, 2012 at 12:23 pm
Has anybody mentioned even if poythress leaves for the draft dont forget you guys have 3 wing players coming in the next recruting class? he wants to play right away. its either FSU or UNC
