Tweet Beat: #StoopLife

by @ 5:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

We now interrupt your Stoops celebrations for this special edition of Tweet Beat! The players have been informed that Mark Stoops will be their next head coach and are responding on Twitter:

Current UK players

Current UK recruits

Khalid Thomas, a UK commit from Tallahassee and brother of Pancho Thomas, who tweeted “Stoooooooooops” earlier this week:

Former UK players

Tim Couch probably knew before most, as he helped the university with the hire. Just call Couch “the new Mike Pratt.”

  1. Under a rock Says:

    Matt: Are we getting Petrino?

  2. Lol Says:

    Those tshirts are embarassing

  3. Crow Says:

Stoops could bring all of FSU’s coordinators, FSU’s head coach, and FSU’s entire team… and he still couldn’t beat Florida so let’s please be realistic about where we’re starting from in trying to win in the SEC.

  4. bigbluejon Says:

Stoops upside ya head, say Stoops upside ya head!

  5. J A Brooks Says:

As you can see most of the players are thrilled. The fans should be too. This is a truly great hire and I’ll be proud to rock my UK gear next year knowing were on the way up

  6. Blue Jesus Says:

Haha Winston Guy’s tweet is hilarious

  7. #StoopingIceCream Says:

It’s a crazy world we live in when the best player to ever put on a UK jersey doesn’t have a verified twitter handle and Jacob Tamme does lol.

  8. Michael Says:

Mitch Barnhart listened to BBN. You can be a BCS team without someone from a BCS school. GREAT HIRE!!!!!

  9. MATTS_EVIL_TWIN Says:

Bobby Petrino will be the new OC !!!!!!!!!!!!!YAY

  10. Bigbluestorm Says:

Look at the players tweeting lol kissing butt already, campaigning for playing time lol.

  11. I'll Hang Up And Listen Says:

Matt, you keep saying the 1st game next season in Nashville is on a Thursday night. It’s actually on a Saturday (8/31).

  12. Millie Says:

Well, a neck brace, maybe a black eye and he would like Petrino. I guess I’ll go all in for Stoops. Attention to the Petrino haters, please quit bashing those who wanted Petrino. Feeling Petrino was the best option doesn’t make us bad fans. However, it does make it harder to get behind this coach when pro-Petrino Kentucky fans like myself are being taunted and ridiculed over this hire. Do you want us back at the games cheering for this team or not? If not, please continue to pit the fan base against one another.

  13. jengland Says:

welcome to BBN Stoops…but more importantly…welcome to the SEC!

  14. So/so hire Says:

Main thing is the players buy in. All of us fans really don’t matter. Because if we win we will go to the games. If any of us knew as much as we think we do we would be coaching somewhere instead of bitching with each other on a message board. Lol

  15. McNeely Mike Says:

Great Hire and Ww’ll sure be behind him.
Now add RON ZOOK and add maturity and experience in DC. Good Resume and OHIO.
Recruit Big 10 boys and get us meat on the lines.

  16. bluristhurr Says:

Funny Bill Clinton had an affair and kept his job as president and Petrino has an affair too and loses his job and can’t get back into the SEC. Guess there’s more respect in sports than politics. This is a good hire for UK

  17. BravoBigBlue Says:

Let’s see. Was Matt/KSR in favor of Stoops or not? It’s hard to remember because he/they were jumping on someone else’s bandwagon about every hour or so for the last 2 weeks. That way, he/they could be right even when they were wrong. Stoops was the 2nd best choice out there for Kentucky and I firmly support the hire. For now. I’m behind him, win or tie.

  18. dave Says:

15-zook would be a homerun DC hire. very good recruiter with FL & midwest ties. not sure we could get him but who knows

  19. Buckets Says:

Petrino was my first choice but Stoops was my second. To get Stoops without the Petrino baggage is a win-win. It’s a very exciting day to be a Kentucky football fan, and when was the last time you could say that? I’ve been down on Mitch Barnhart lately, especially after his ‘real fans’ comment and the way he fired Joker via letter to the fans, but he deserves a lot of credit. GOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Cowboy Says:

Mrs TT and her rat face still aren’t funny

  21. FrifFullofBeer Says:

I am hearing that Stoops is bring FSU’S Offensive Coordinator to Kentucky with him!!!!! WOW that is awesome

  22. Beavis Says:

Yep,,,,that would be the same Big 10 boys that have been getting their asses handed to them by the SEC teams. We don’t need to recruit that much up north. Recruit the deep south. I know what you are thinking,,,,but we would be recruiting against Bama,,,LSU,,,Fla and other big time programs. The reason they are big time is the recruits they bring in,,,,we have to get some of those same recruits if we are going to compete.

  23. So-so hire Says:

#18 have you lost your damn mind. We don’t need Zook with in 100 miles of Lexington. He couldn’t win at Flordia and he wouldn’t benefit Stoops who has his own style of D. When Zooks name was mentioned as a candidate it made me want to throw up. I’ll give you he can recruit but we need some one to coach up the players we have and he CAN’T coach. I don’t care who recruits for us we are not getting the 5 star kids. Sorry but it’s not going to happen. We need to coach up the 3 star players mixed in with the occasional 4star.

  24. So-so hire Says:

I think every body needs to get a good grasp of who we are competing against. Let’s be real we are competing against both Mississippi schools, Vandy, MIssouri, south Carolina, UL, Tennessee, and sadly WKU. We are not going to beat Bama, Fla, LSU, or Texas AM regularly for recruits or games. As long as we realize that and are open minded we can get a better grasp of how Stoops is going as time goes on. If and only if we start beating the teams we can regularly can we start to worry about Bama and LSU. It’s unfair to expect any coach to come in and get 5 star players and win the SEC

  25. Beavis Says:

#24,,,,,why not compete with the big boys? Are you trying to say that we hired this guy just to be mediocre ? Right now what I expect is a defense that knows where they are supposed to line up but in the future I expect them to be at least competitive with the big boys in this conference.

  26. mudcreekmark Says:

Enough of the Petrino this and Petrino that. For Gods sake, who would want a coach that you would have to worry about 24/7. He is a great football coach. He is a terrible human.I’m not just talking about the whole cheating on the wife thing. That is his business and is a personal thing between him and his family. If that was the only thing, I’d hire him in a heart beat. Tommy Tuberville gave him an opportunity of a life time as an offensive coordinator at an SEC school that helped him land a head coaching job at UofL.So what does Tuberville get as a thank you, he gets Petrino trying to steal his job behind his back. That is a real trait you want to instill in the young men you are in charge of huh? Then the Atlanta Falcons give him a second, once in a lifetime opportunity and what does he do to show his thanks to them. He quits before the first season is over with and leaves his team high and dry.

  27. cherrypie Says:

What happened to the Fulmer talk? I still think he would have been a good choice. Petrino would have been ok for us. You guys are convinced his is always going to be a curse on someone. I think the guy has been humbled by all this past year. I think some team will give him a chance. It will take me some time to warm up to this hiring a coordinator stuff. Just surprised at all you choir boys that were anti Petrino.

  28. mudcreekmark Says:

24)You are exactly right. If in 3 or 4 years Stoops can get us to where Brooks had us, I’d be a happy camper. The last 3 or 4 years Brooks was here, we won all of the games we were supposed to win and won a few that we were not suppose to win. We need to win all of our non conference games, Louisville included. Then in the SEC we need to beat Vandy and Miss. State on a regular basis and then knock off an Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Missouri, Tennessee, South Carolina every now and then. That would give us 7 wins or so a year and a bowl game. Don’t say we will never beat an LSU, Alabama, Florida because we have beaten a couple of those in the last few years even when LSU was number one in the nation. It can happen. If teams can be built at Boise State and Kansas State and schools like that, it can be done here. Maybe Mark Stoops will be our Bill Snyder.

  29. dumb Says:

Stoops will be the best FB coach UK has ever hired.
