Wonder who will be the OC for Stoops? We need someone to come in and spread the ball and score some points, I feel that the D will be fine with Stoops at the helm. Does anyone know if he is a good recruiter? We need players, maybe we can start getting 4-5 stars to come to UK…

A coach is only as good as his assistants. Let’s hope he brings in top notch recruiters to sell UK. It’s alot easier to sell FSU than UK to potential recruits.

Agree pump4uk. UK needs to give him the money to hire the best staff he can find. I think Clemson’s OC makes over 1 million, while Sanders made about 300-400 thous.

Pretty pumped about this hire. He has a lot of recruiting ties in the south, not to mention Oklahoma Arizona Texas etc. This could be an exciting era of UK Football, especially if we get all the money to put towards athletics for the upgrades this program needs. Couldn’t be happier about becoming a season ticket holder last year. He may not be here 6 years down the road (if that long) but if he can get us back on the map to start getting better recruits and coaches in the future this could a start of great things to come.

Although im a florida fan, i do wish uk the best in this hire. Some more advice: go after trooper taylor from auburn assitants whose a great recruiter, then go out and hire ellis johnson who just got fired from southern miss to be your defensive coordinator, finally go out and hire an assitant from the nfl to be your offensive coordinator. Congrats on the new hire and best of luck !!!

Lets hope Mark is as smart as his brother Bob. When Bob was hired as head coach at oklahoma, he brought in Mike Leach as oc, stating that Leach ran an offense that his defense (as defensive coord. at UF) could not stop. Great hire on Bob’s part.
Now if Mark can pull off the same trick at UK, he may do just find as our new coach. But he will need to score more points in order to win at UK untill he is able to bring in better defensive recruits.
If that’s possible at KY.
Here’s wishing Mark the best of luck at UK and please make our offense more exciting.

Congratulations Coach Stoops! Hopefully having 2 brothers that have been Head Coaches maybe Mark can take the good from both and learn from some of their mistakes to make himself a better head coach, I’ve been a guy that wanted Bobby Petrino and still think he was the best coach available but I’m 100% behind Stoops and I think he’ll be a good coach and if he is using UK as a stepping stone which I can understand, hopefully he’ll do a good enough job to leave it a more desirable job if he does leave.

We are finally throwing legitimate money at the program for the first time in decades and have the chance to take advantage of Penn State being down and steal some players out of PA and OH as well as FL, TX, and CA. One question – Any concern that Stoops comes in and attempts to run a ‘traditional’ SEC type program which has proven unsuccessful? Matt Jones has said repeatedly that we need to do something different as we can not beat SEC powerhouses at their own game, which I agree with.
Thoughts???

Some of the talk on the FSU message boards hint that Coley would likely follow Stoops to UK to actually be the OC, leading one to believe he was only the OC until game day with Jimbo Fisher calling the plays at important parts of the actual games.
