According to KSR sources, Stoops contacted Kentucky for an interview and came with a plan that said “UK can win the SEC,” which blew the folks at UK away.

Welcome aboard, Mark.

Prepare to be #Stoopefied!, I can only imagine “Stupefy” by Disturbed to be played at his press conference…

  7. Matty Says:

3- I’m okay with that because USC or Auburn won’t come calling unless Stoops is winning.

  8. macsauce13 Says:

    I’m excited. #Stoops

  9. SexnNursinHomes Says:

Open up the pocket book and upgrade our facilities and give Stoops an opportunity. Stoops is as serious as rectal cancer. He has my support, like it matters.

    Awesome coverage KSR.

  10. SexnNursinHomes Says:

3- Well, if he gets lured away to a big name school, it will be because he has done a great job. Which makes the next coach more easier to get

  11. UK2001 Says:

    Hot damn sukey sukey.

  12. Gingers Aren't People Says:

Generally, I can’t stand Gingers. They have no souls. They eat children. They smell bad. But my wife made a great point: a Ginger as a head coach means he might be a shrewd business man and tough head coach. And, of course, I use the term “man” loosely because we all know gingers aren’t technically people.

  14. stoopid hire Says:

That top defense did a stellar job against fla huh?? UK only gave up 1 more point than fsu did against fla.
Barney fife has finally put the nail in the coffin of UK football.

  15. notv Says:

for whatever reason, I keep reading STOOPS BROWN as BROWN STOOL.

  16. Crow Says:

Great. We hired Danny Bonaduce from the Partridge Family.

  17. pump4uk Says:

So are we going to go back to 4-3 or stick with 3-4?

  18. 2001-2002 Miami Defense Says:

Matt Jones could have coached us and we still would have done all of that stuff. We were that good.

  19. STOOPWOOP Says:

    #CantStopStoops

  20. JR Greer Says:

I knew this was happening two weeks ago.

  21. chris gettelfinger is not walking through that door Says:

  22. Jeremy Says:

    #stoopidgoodhire

  23. Owen Says:

    Awesome hire. I’m pumped.

Also, do people remember just how ridiculously good those early 2000s Miami teams were? Like, how many ridiculously good pro-bowl players were on those teams? Because there were a ton that 2002 team. Just having a guy who coached that team is pretty awesome. Hopefully we can start getting some of those types of players.

  24. JR Greer, Jr Says:

I knew this was happening three weeks ago.

  25. GhostOfBearBryant Says:

It is all about the staff now. Let’s hope he brings up the OC from Texas Tech.

  27. Jarvis Redwine Says:

Do you think with his receding hairline and gingerness, that Mitch thought he WAS hiring Petrino?

  28. Spears Says:

Any word on Neal Brown as OC?

Why did you keep it to your self Greer? Thanks alot.

That’s great if he did indeed contact us first. He WANTED the job badly. Should be very motivated for the few years he will be here.

  34. TRUTH.COM Says:

lose lose situation…if he lose we back where we started, and if he wins he will be looking for a better job in 3 years.

  35. CatFan26 Says:

@ 14. Quit looking at the fsu/uk game. FSU turned the ball over at least FIVE times and gave uf the ball only 20-30 yards away from the goal line THREE times. It wasnt fsu’s defense fault they gave up points. GREAT HIRE!! Welcome to BBN Stoops!

  36. Carl Says:

Led nation in fewest third down conversions…..that stat right there is a big one. I would bet we were close to last for the last several years. Welcome Coach Stoops to the BBN !

  37. CatFan26 Says:

Woops meant stop looking at the fsu/uf game.

  38. Old Pogue Bourbon Says:

HERALD LEADER QUOTE: “No official word had come from UK as of Tuesday afternoon, but several UK players said on Twitter that Stoops was the choice.”

  55. Hang on stoopy Says:

Glad we didnt “Stoop” as low as to get Petrino

Dont care if we end up being a “Stooping” stone for Stoops, lets enjoy him while we have him! Great hire!!!!

  56. Dub c Says:

I hope he keeps Joker on Staff

  57. So-so hire Says:

Hope he wins big. He has all the pedigree and has payed his dues at some good schools. Still don’t think he’s the homerun most hoped for. Given the state of our program he’s probably about as good as we could hope for. Just don’t get on here and act like he is bear Bryants second coming. No HC experience and very little SEC talent on this team to work with. Make no mistake this hire could be a huge get or just as easy anther situation like Jokers. So let’s give him a little time and be open minded. One thing for sure rightfully or not this hire will be the one that defines Mitches legacy at UK. He whiffed on BCG and rectified it fairly quickly. He whiffed on Joker now lets see if he fixes that mistake.

  58. Stoopid is Stoopid does Says:

#57 Can’t really blame Mitch for Joker, brooks had a lot to do with that. Great hire in my opinion. If he brings in the heavy hitting assistants and is giving full control.

  59. Scratch Says:

    #Stooperman

  60. c dizz Says:

    we will always suck!!!!!

  61. Han Says:

Stoops wins the SEC here at UK and I’m pretty sure he’ll get a contract for life.

  62. Drinking and posting Says:

I like the cut of his jib! Seriously, I like his demeanor and thoughtful responses. That’s a positive thing, right? WIN THE SEC? Well, what goal is he supposed to have? I’d say that’s the right attitude!

  63. The man Says:

    BBN let’s get #stoopidhyped
