who cares about bobby petrino? life will go on in college football without him as it has the last two years. he is not bear bryant. bear bryant is not walking throught that door people, and neither is bobby petrino. since when did he become the only guy on earth that can coach? i know what he can do….he can go visit other jobs right in the middle of our season if he were coach, he could leave mid season if things werent working out, he wouldnt keep his wang in his pants in lexington, he cant keep his Harley up either which is just as embarassing. i mean if you are man enough to ride a Harley at least know what you are doing. besides, co-eds have no clue how to hang on the back of a Harley. get an geniuine biker chick for petes sake not a poser blonde. thats all petrino has to offer anyone……IMHO

Here’s my take on the coaching search. Mitch Barnhart, doing the search by himself, had his choice as soon as Joker was fired if not before he was fired. Barnhart puts out a few names, some get interviews, some don’t, the ones that do get interviews get offered so little money that they can’t reasonably take the job. Barnhart, saying he can’t find anyone to take the job then turns to an old friend, Philip Fulmer, who will agree to take the job. Sounds like how we ended up getting Rich Brooks huh? That’s how Barnhart rolls. Get ready for Fat Phil Big Blue Fans!

Stoops would be a GREAT hire. Florida recruiting connections, one of the top assistants in the nation. This will energize the players and excited the fanbase, unless you have your head stuck in Petrino’s _____.

Charlie Strong’s success can be tied in large part to his ability to bring several recruits out of FL in his first class. If Stoops could do the same that would be an added bonus.

OK I will say once again, I care about UK football, and basketball, I am a UK fan,I could care less about the character or moral values of any of our coaches. I believe that Bobby Petrino will get a job in the SEC or somewhere else, just a matter of time, most schools will interview him no matter if SEC told them not too. Most schools in the SEC want to win, they will go with best available coach, just like UK did when we hired CAL, even though everyone said we shouldn’t. That being said for whatever reason, Mitch wan’t going to go after Petrino regardless of the situation, thats just the way it is, so I will accept whoever he chooses, and still cheer for them, because i am a fan of UK.

I dont mind Stoops, but to think he is going to bring those players he recruited at FSU to UK is absurd Matt. Im sorry, no Florida football player is choosing UK over USC,UF,FSU,Miami…. this guy has padded defensive numbers in the ACC. Look at what UF did to that “vaunted defense”. And Florida has a very lack luster offense. The only thing that is good about this dude is his last name… and the fact he has ties to Florida.
I am not against him, I just dont think he is all Matt is hyping him up to be.

I will be the first to say I was pissed that we weren’t trying to get petrino because none of the other names being tossed around excited me at all. Having said that, Stoops is the first name that I am excited about and would back 100%! With the right staff in place I think he could do great things at UK. May take a little longer than Petrino would have to get us there but this is the first non petrino name I’ve heard that I think can and will raise UK up the SEC ladder in football. Get Stoops!!!!

BlueClues:GET A CLUE. Obviously you don’t know anything about football. If you did, you would realize that Petrino is the best coach out there. What point that I made, was I wrong about? Auburn is about to hire Petrino and we’ll whiff once again. UK football can be good. Look at how much interest this coaching search has got. 128 — I’d probably think he’d coach this week, but not coach there starting next week. I’d think he’d make the decision to start the transition to Kentucky and certainly not be there for the bowl. I’d think Fischer would pass Stoops’s responsibilities to another defensive coach for the bowl. There is no way you’d waste that much time coaching another person’s team while you’re doing nothing for your own team.

To everyone saying UK has missed on big time coaches in the past: Given the state of UK football and its position in the SEC, what makes you think these other coaches would have picked UK over where they went?
I won’t say that UK hasn’t missed opportunities in the past, but saying that every coach that was available when we needed a coach and ended up being successful somewhere else seems pretty ignorant to me.

I like either Stoops or MacIntyre over Fulmer that’s for sure but I don’t see how you can handcuff a guy by telling him who he can hire as OC, the UK job is not that good to hold that over a coach’s head. I’m sur Stoops knows plenty of young guys that could be OC.

Against Florida:
Kentucky gave up 38 points and 403 total yards.
Florida State gave up 37 points and 394 yards.
I want a upgrade, but I want a upgrade of more than 1 point and 9 yards.
Florida State may be ranked #5 in total defense, but they’re playing against the ACC for crying out loud. They have 1 other team ranked in the top 25 (Clemson) and they were beat by a depleted South Carolina team. Out of 12 teams in the ACC, only 4 have winning records. If he was that hot of coordinator he would have been a head coach a long time ago. I need help on this one.

Frank, I can believe that. I think UK offers the chance of jumping into the prestigious SEC, but as much as I would love to have Stoops I can definitely see it falling through. He has more recruiting connections in this part of the country, but I think it would be hard to beat out Arkansas for the same guy.

Stoops has gotten atleast 1 top 10 defensive player the last 4 years and a ton of other 4 and 5 star players and still give up 400 yards to Florida… Rick Minter did that against Florida with 2 and 3 stars…Also stoops plays in the ACC they are terrible atleast when UL got Strong he was the best Defensive coordinator and in the best conference…

Kentucky gave up 38 points and 403 total yards.
Florida State gave up 37 points and 394 yards.
I want a upgrade, but I want a upgrade of more than 1 point and 9 yards.
Florida State may be ranked #5 in total defense, but they’re playing against the ACC for crying out loud. They have 1 other team ranked in the top 25 (Clemson) and they were beat by a depleted South Carolina team. Out of 12 teams in the ACC, only 4 have winning records. If he was that hot of coordinator he would have been a head coach a long time ago. I need help on this one.

I never believed Mitch was interested in Petrino. From what I know (which isn’t much) Mitch basically despised Petrino and wasn’t going to take a chance with him because of his character issues. Mitch knew Petrino through U of L and he was way too similar to BCG and too much of an off-the-field liability. I’m very, very, very glad Petrino won’t be at UK. Not that this is even relevant, but I live in Baton Rouge and Petrino is more despised around LSU than Saban due to his character, even though Saban pulled the Pitino on LSU (going pro then coming back to LSU’s biggest rival).

Nick Saban runs the 3-4. Granted though, his defense is littered with 4 and 5 stars made for that style, and ours won’t be no matter who the coach is. Even Mumme came to the conclusion that an 8 man front is the defense to run in the SEC. That’s why he hired the guy from Texas Tech (don’t remember his name but he had coached under Spike Dykes out there) who turned out to be a very good DC for us (remember Jeremy Caudill & co. beating up on Dave Ragone?). Of course he never coached under Mumme, but coached under Guy Morris.

You people comparing the fsu- fla game to the uk-fla game are idiots the only reason Florida had that many points was turnovers on their side of the field. Also we played Florida st a much different time in the season. Hell that was the first week that they were only playing 1 qb! Plus Florida played like crap in the first half against us. NOt cuz out defense played great. Florida ain’t getting up for uk either. They knew they didn’t have to try to hard to beat the cats! And besides you’re only pointing out 1 game against the # 4 team in the country. What has his defense done the rest of the season.
