Ryan Harrow isn’t expected to play tonight

by @ 1:28 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

It’s looking like it’ll be the Goodwin/Mays/Polson Show tonight at the point guard position when the Leopards come to town.  Ryan Harrow isn’t expected to play tonight in the home opener.

What in the world is going on with Kentucky’s starting guard???

90 Responses to “Ryan Harrow isn’t expected to play tonight”

  1. Sick Ryan Harrow Says:

    I hooked up with Drew’s sister…*cough cough*

  2. luvmesumcats Says:

    Considering a transfer?

  3. Ryan Harrow Says:

Why would I transfer now, after sitting a year and practicing with the team? Makes no sense. Something else is wrong.

  4. woah Says:

I’m jp but why hasnt tawny played.. polson has gotten decent minutes

  5. UK2001 Says:

I can tell you that this is the appropriate action to take by the UK staff. If this were mono, he might be out 6-8 weeks because of the risk of a ruptured spleen with this condition. Also, becuase he is an athlete, they are being careful to rule out Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy which causes fatigue in athletes and is the number one cause of cariopulmonary arrest in athletes. Also, being of African American descent, they are ruling out sickle cell disease. This often requires extensive lab work up

  6. TheSkyIsFalling Says:

He has mono. He is scared. He wants to transfer. He has mono. Did I mention mono? None of these are probably true but that’s what the commentors will say in 3…2…1…

  7. ky_99 Says:

the situation is starting to seem like a little more than an “unknown illness”. Maybe I am reading too much into it but there seems to be more to this story than is being let on.

  8. MikeMan Says:

I was talking to some NC State fans last night and they were telling me about the story of Ryan harrow being “sick” for some games while he played there. They were saying that Harrow said he was sick, but was on the bus to one of the games and Howell called him out saying, “if you are okay enough to ride the bus and be at the game, then you need to be playing.” It caused quite a rift with Harrow who obviously ended up transferring. Basically they thought he was not necessarily faking the sickness, but that he is weak when it comes to this type of stuff. Granted, consider the sources – they HATE Harrow now, but just something to consider.

  9. Wolvezzz Says:

Has anybody looked at the possibility of west nile?

  10. Cal Says:

    KENTUCKY is not for everybody….

  11. H.A.Milton Says:

Or he has what Stacey Poole had last year…the I’mnotcutoutforKentucky-itis. I really hope not, because this teams prospects change significantly without a true PG, but…either way hope he’s healthy and hope everyone can get on with their business one way or another, SOON.

  12. Dr. Spaceman Says:

It has been discovered that Ryan Harrow was really Rinata Harrow after hormone therapy. We could never really do anything for that voice, though. Dead giveaway. He will now be the starting center for UCONN.

  13. Wildcat Blood Says:

Never thought I would say it, but can we have Marquis Teague back??

  14. BarberShop Says:

I think it’s the flat top. It’s too much for him to carry around, takes all his energy. Cut it off.

  15. TCG Says:

Something else is going on with him… seems like playing PG for Cal may be wearing on him?

  16. I'm Ryan Harrow Says:

and I can’t do all that Cal is asking me to do. I think I’ll transfer, because I sure ain’t getting any clock next year, and I’m getting out-muscled by Polson, Mays, Lanter, and everyone NOT named Brian Long at practice. Oh, and Cal hates me.

  17. Ridge Runner Says:

Feels like an old episode of Unsolved Mysteries but one thing is for sure… It’s making us scratch our heads till our fingers are numb???

  18. Jarrod Polson Says:

that sucka is fronting dawg…anywho, I’ll be gobbling up the minutes…white boy pride

  19. Ridge Runner Says:

The thing that gets me is that in this day and time, I’m getting a little aggravated that UK hasn’t issued any specific statement about anything except he’s sick and we don’t know. Hell, a diagnosis that takes this long usually has someone in ICU.

  20. Ridge Runner Says:

18..this part of the our schedule is for you, then.

  21. BBN Says:

I also heard this morning that Harrow will transfer at the end of the semester. Any guess as to when an announcement will come?

  22. captain binkwinkle Says:

I think Harrow might have mumps or chicken pox..

  23. Miles Says:

Can anyone help me with a link to watch the game tonight? I’m in Sweden and ESPN3 doesn’t work here.

  24. Todd Ziggler Says:

I hope he gets well soon. Lazarus has nice watches. Can’t wait for black friday.

  25. youknow Says:

It’s not like they can come out and say “He’s got Mono” or “He’s sick” there are privacy and HIPPA laws. Respect his privacy and pray he gets well soon. We need him at the point.

  26. Ridge Runner Says:

22…if thats the case, UK better get new medical team cuz he’s had them since the first game of the season. My 8 year old was out of school for 3 days and started soccer ack again on day 5.

  27. Ridge Runner Says:

25, you misunderstand the HIPPA laws. A diagnosis being released is not a part of that. Hell if thats the case, there would be no UK injury report.

  28. All Aceess Says:

On one of the episodes of Kentucky All Access, Calipari made reference to one of the guys having to join the book club due to some academic issues? Maybe he is reading a book during these games?

  29. SeoulCat Says:

Jesus, people. Get off the kid’s back. People get sick, people get mono, people get a whole host of diseases that cause them to take time off from–or quit altogether–their respective sports. When Sheray Thomas missed major time after having a tumor removed, were you calling him out, too?
Stop jumping to conclusions and let the situation play itself out.

  30. G-Man Says:

I’ve heard from a decent source that Ryan is suffering from severe depression. TIFWIW.

  31. The shrink says Says:

He was broken down by cal and slipped into a depression like state. Think about what is going on in his head… I’m a starting PG now and I have expectations to live up to and will have two years to produce if I want to play in the NBA. This all started once the the twins were signed and he knew his window was cut to 1 year. He put a lot of pressure on himself and was getting out worked by other teammates. I would bet anything that is what it was. He will not be asked back until he can respond to cals demands of his floor general.

  32. Billy Clyde Says:

Wonder if it could be related to the old Bull Headed Clap?

  33. Mr. Obvious Says:

Obviously, most of you are a bunch of assholes that don’t know what’s going on and are making feeble attempts to be humorous.

  34. Ridge Runner Says:

    35…ya think?

  35. the Big Dog Says:

    Can anybody say Stacey Poole?

  36. Mark Hamilton Says:

    DOES HE HAVE A FACEBOOK?

  37. DCat Says:

Ryan is sick and not anyone’s business as to the diagnosis. The people writing that an announcement should be made are out of order. I’m sure they don’t put their illnesses out there on blast. Ryan and the UK staff don’t own the fans one thing.

  38. BCG Says:

I’ll make him tough, gimme a week.

  39. Mark Hamilton Says:

HE’S JUST USING AN ESCAPE GOAT!!!!

  40. BCO Says:

Wow…a lot of our fans are pure retards.

  41. cuthimsomeslack Says:

hes still a young man, that is doing something that probably 100 percent of those of you that are making awful comments could do, and that is playing for the University of Kentucky! If he is depressed, we all live with depression, some worse than others! Remember Royce White? The same Royce White that UK played last year? He was demoted to the NBA D league due to anxiety, I wish him well! Cal should be prepared to have a back up PG that can perform well! John Wall was a point guard, but he was more of a make stuff happen for him kind of player, like Archie Goodwin, and they made it to the elite 8 that year, cut the team and Harrow some slack, this is just the 3rd game of the season

  42. Ridge Runner Says:

    41…just shut up.

This has went on for entirely too long with no word on what the hell the kid is going through. So what happens? rumors start and triple. There is absolutely no excuse for UK to make some kind of announcement besides he’s sick and we don’t know. This started at on the first game of the season and had drug on till now. The halftime UK injury report has been able to get even Kyle Macy to offer “something” regardin the health of every player DURING the game! So, no…this is really too much. Hell, if it’s of a serious, private concern….UK should just say that. But the longer they don’t say anything….it becomes even weirder.

  43. Ridge Runner Says:

    42…LOL

  44. Ridge Runner Says:

41…Mark, my apolgies and that wasn’t for you when I said shut up. A thread gets deleted and it screws stuff up.

  45. Tim Says:

Some of these posts are childish. The kid is sick or hurt. What the issue is would be released if he wanted it released or even if Cal wanted it released.

  46. Bob Cobb Says:

You people are an absolute disgrace. Turn in your fan cards, Internet Tough Guys.

  47. Ben Says:

    I think it’s mono

  48. Drakesrake Says:

I don’t understand some people’s obsession with Twanaaaaaay Beckham. The kid couldn’t get in the game at Miss. State. Why do you think he should get minutes for UK? I’ve never seen him do much to prove he deserves more time, but then again I’m not watching practices either. Isn’t he hurt anyway?

  49. Ridge Runner Says:

    48) Tim..But thats what I’m saying. I don’t care who gives the ok / says when something is released including our coach. It’s just (at this point) really weird and strange that they don’t want to release something. Thus…..the majority of these rumors begin to run and run and… well you get the picture.

  50. Ridge Runner Says:

    51..agreed. Beckham, oh, he hasn’t played? ok…yawn.

  51. Dear IU and UL, We are National Champs; you are not. The end. Says:

So many UL fans posting on this site. No real fan of the team comes down on players like this.

Matt, we need registered users posting. Also, if a post gets 10 “thumbs down” from unique IP addresses, it’s pulled from the site. It would manage itself.

  52. Jughead Says:

I like to kick a person who is down as much as the next guy, but give Harrow a break…he may be ill. If not, there’s plenty of time later to shred him.

  53. BREAKING NEWS Says:

You guys are naive to think UK fans are the ones posting these rude comments. When will you realize that the comments are being posted mostly by UL & IU trolls? Why do you automatically assume UK fans are responsible when they are not? Geez, use your brains people!

  54. scott Says:

He doesn’t have mono people, even Calipari shot that down…

  55. David Says:

Andrew Harrison can’t get here soon enough.

  56. John L. Says:

Get well soon Ryan. BBN is behind you no matter the reason.

  57. Matt e Says:

My buddy has direct tv and I have dish. Why is it that the scrub games have only been delayed on direct tv? It keeps saying its blacked out on fox south but I get it on dish on some alternate channel live? Does anybody know what’s up? Thanks in advance

  58. Ridge Runner Says:

57)Matt, I know what you are saying & don’t get it either.

KSR does the best they can trying to announce where you can find games on tv but heck, it becomes a crapshoot with all the providers, blackouts, and multiple channels.

  59. lonnieb Says:

    @ridgerunner

Why do you feel you are owed any explanation as to what is wrong….its none of your business. When you had crabs you didnt have to go to work and tell everybody why you missed work for the doctor. I cant believe how entitled people are…..uk fans or not. Something is wrong…..its none of your business…..it will come out when its time……and if any uk fans are bashing him they are stupid……for this team to reach potential we need him to play the PG so goodwin can do his normal work…….if polson has to play significant minutes its bad news….no offense to polson but he was a walk on for a reason

  60. Ridge Runner Says:

    56) John, well said and my overall thought as well regarding Ryan.

My “point” earlier may have overshadowed my true feeling about him as a UK player and a member of the family and that is a good way to phrase what is really important as far as priority.

  61. Matt e Says:

I hear ya. Thanks I don’t understand how I even get it at my house? It’s on a channel 440 something that just says alternate. Last year my buddy got em all on fox sports south but not this year. I always go to his house bc he has TiVo and the games have been at the same time as sons of anarchy or gold rush tonight. Guess I will be watching it delayed again after gold rush. Thanks though I just didn’t know why they were all on last year bug this year they’re blacked out on Fss.

  62. UK Fan Says:

#37…you are legally right, but like most celebrities, when you play for UK your problems become the fan problems. If he’s suffering from depression or HIV, I can see why the program would not want to release the information. However, the fan curisoity is only going to grow and before not very long it is going to get out of control with rumors, etc. Cal better have a plan in place if this thing continues much longer.

  63. Weblink Says:

    23… try this thefirstrow.eu

  64. Will S Says:

Making fun of someone’s potentially very serious illness is nothing to mock, even for a troll. Prayers go out to Ryan, hope you feel better and are back to 100% soon.

Has the kid missed games before in his career? Yes, but maybe that is a sign of something more serious. Maybe he really does have some type of severe immunodeficiency disease. Remember, this kid is still 19 or 20 years old, cut him some slack. At this point, it’s really not about basketball.

  65. Ridge Runner Says:

    59) Well sir…first I don’t feel I am owed anything.

Secondly, my point is/was that this “unknown” thing had dragged on so long that it has became a bit strange and it prompts rumors to spread like wildfire. In a world where players injuries and health are updated daily, it is really weird for us at this point in our season not to know anything except he is sick and they don’t know wats wrong.

It’s not a matter of “my/your business”. It’s a matter of not being consistent with releasing the players status as they have for all other players as long as I can remember. If it’s of no concern, then why do we have UK injury reports which have covered everything from cramps to diarreah to the loss of a loved one to…etc.

Remember, this has been dragging on since game 1. Hope that clears it up for ya.

  66. Ridge Runner Says:

    sorry for my horrible spelling.

Also…if it’s a private and personal matter he is dealing with….hell, just say that. Again, the sticking the head in the sand by UK at this point is strange.

  67. UK Fan Says:

    Harrowgate.

  68. Simple Says:

57–Do you have the Sports Package with those Fox channels? I thought I did but did not–ordered it and all is well. Live games in HD.

  69. catlogic15 Says:

For whatever reason, the kid can’t play right now. Everyone should show their class as members of BBN and support him until it is revealed what the next step is. Ease up folks. For all you know, his family is probably worried sick over this. We’ve all had this type family concern.

  70. DC4UK Says:

Do people honestly think other fans are posting negative things about Harrow? Get real, I can almost bet its our own fanbase. Prolly not all but most, to think otherwise is not facing reality. Pretty sad we have fans like that but its true. Same fans that bashed the team after the duke loss. Either get behind the team 100% or root for another team. Thanks.

  71. ImLikeCreepedOut Says:

After reading these posts I’m reminded why I always thought this site was like Animal House. Guess I’ll get banned under this handle now, too. There’s irreverence, there’s wit… and then there’s dumbassedness.

  72. putinrichie Says:

62 – Good point. If he has HIV or anxiety/depression issues than I could see UK not wanting anyone to know. I hope its just something like the swine flu or mono and he can play by the time conference play begins. If its HIV or anxiety than he may never play here again.

  73. putinrichie Says:

54 – You are full of it. No he didn’t. Cal said nothing of the sort. He said they won’t know what the issue is until they get the results in on the blood work and confirmation from the Doc’s.

  74. CatfanFl Says:

ridgerunner, you explain this lack of communication and the consequences of it very well.

  75. Matt e Says:

Well I have dish and idk what I have. I had to order something to be able to get fox Ohio for the reds games but I don’t get any other sports channels besides fsc and its mostly soccer which I hate so idk. My friend that has dish gets a lot more stuff than I do such as tru tv and all the movie channels but he still doesn’t get it bc it says its blacked out so idk. He has to watch it on either 21 or 58 delayed.

  76. Just wondering Says:

Young people don’t stay sick that long.. Wonder what the real deal is here??
Mono is being tossed around… I think us as fans have almost self diagnosed him as having mono.. Which means…he does NOT have mono…
As far as HIV goes.. That’s just terrible.. Probably a troll posted that…
Maybe depression or chronic fatigue or something???

  77. Matt e Says:

My friend has direct tv sorry

  78. Dave / New Mexico Says:

I’m really concerned about this young man. If he’s really physically ill it might be something serious. If he’s just not able to make the grade, then that’s something serious also. I somehow believe that if Ryan wasn’t a capable point guard (when he’s 100%) that Cal would have made that clear long ago.

  79. BigBlueJohnny Says:

All jokes aside – flu-like symptoms, lacking energy, etc. Definitely sounds like mono. I’ve seen enough college students with it over the years. And when it happens, you’re down for months! He seriously would likely miss the regular season. Sure hope it’s something else.

  80. Destructive Criticism Says:

#70-You hit the proverbial nail on the head. These comments on Harrow are ridiculous.

  81. UK Freshmen Says:

    Chickenshititis.

  82. Rick Says:

I KNOW what is wrong with Ryan….think about it…….his girlfriend dumped him and he is depressed.

  83. UK Freshmen Says:

Lets also have the doctors look at John Hood.

  84. Kentucky rain Says:

GET WELL SOON, HARROW! WE NEED YOU BUDDY!

  85. ARealUKFan Says:

Come on people…You all act like a bunch of idiots. Ryan has a issue of some kind, just acknowledge that and live with it. If you trust and love the University of Kentucky then trust that if there is more to what is being told, then there is reason for it. GO BIG BLUE! Harrow, you are in my prayers.. Get well soon.

  86. Bob Cobb Says:

You people didn’t deserve the joy of last year’s national championship. You deserve to be covered in boils and permanent hemroids. Some fans you are.

  87. Dave / New Mexico Says:

My bet is that this thread is being trolled by haters of UK. Every true blue Cat fan is pulling for Ryan. Whatever the problem may be, I wish him well.

  88. Linda Taylor Says:

I just thought I would throw this bit of information out there. Medical tests don’t always pinpoint what is wrong. One week after my nephew was born he was back in the hospital with meningitis. They NEVER figured out whether it was bacterial or viral and that was at Stanford Medical Center, one of the best hospitals in the country. He had to have a stent put in to relieve the swelling on his brain and he recovered, but it was touch and go.

  89. Hmm Says:

    Anal leakage

  90. Neil Says:

I think you are all making a mountain out of a mole hill. He is sick or ill and it takes time to figure out which one it is. UK isn’t going to allow a player to play that isn’t healthy enough to play.
If its depression or stress that’s a whole other animal and sure the heck isn’t any of our business. I doubt that its either because it would have shown before now. If it is, he will work through it with the coaches because they really do have the players best interest in mind.
As for not being able to play the position, come on! Cal is the best point guard coach in the country. If he didn’t think Harrow was his man for 2012, he would recruited someone.
We’re pulling for you Ryan and look forward to your contribution to the team.
