Anyone sleepy today? Very impressed with the cats even though they lost. I am so ready for some turkey next week.

Hey Matt and Show Thread, I’d like to hear your opinions on this:
Things we learned from last night.
1- We learned just how important Harrow is to this team. I think he will come along. It bodes well that Cal said “Harrow is my PG, I have my trust in him.”
2- We learned how defenses are going to play us. Teams are going to be looking for the charge. Poythress, Goodwin, Mays and Harrow have to learn to pull up for that 8-10 foot jumper or a floater (a la Knight). Even if they miss they are giving a free run to the rim for their team mates.
3- We learned this team responds. When you go down 12 you can do two things, give up, or battle back. It’s encouraging that they battled back. If you look back to 2010 I think the reason we didn’t win the title was because we got lucky in 2 games against Miss St. and won those close games. I think it would have benefited John Walls team to lose those games. I think this is evidenced by the fact that in 2011 we could not buy a close game win in the regular season which led to our success in the tournament in close games. Same with 2012, the loss to Vandy played a pivotal role in us going on that run. Even though UK was down by 3 with a little over a minute left I knew we were not going to win. We don’t know how to win a close game yet. That’s ok. We have 3 months to learn.
4- We learned that Cal is still learning this team. You can tell by the extreme differences in style. This team is going to be at their best when in transition. I think their half-court offense at the end of the year is going to look a lot like Dukes did last night. If anything was proven last night it was that Mays and Wiltjer are not great at creating their own shot. I think in the half court we need to play inside-out. Get Noel/Cauley/Poythress the ball on the block and force help, when they help you have the kick out to shooters.
5- We learned that although Noel is a great shot blocker, he takes himself out of plays. He often times helps from the weak side when no help is needed leaving his man in prime position for an offensive rebound. Also, what makes Noel so great is that he has bounce like a guard and gets off the floor quickly. There is NO REASON WHY HE SHOULD FALL FOR A PUMPFAKE! His athleticism allows him to wait for the opposition to leave their feet/shoot and then he can go for the block.
6- We learned there is no one in the nation that can play Goodwin or Poythress 1 on 1 on the perimeter and stay with them. When Harrow comes back I think you can add him to the mix.
7- We learned that those refs absolutely sucked. I think Plumlee had 12 fouls…
8- We learned that Noel, Goodwin and Poythress have thrusters in their shoes. When they jump it’s like they are flying! We are going to see a lot of posters!
9- We learned Digger Phelps absolutely hates UK. Maybe the fact we were 12-4 against him makes him bitter…
November 14th, 2012 at 10:16 am
To be honest, we have very little excitement as far as competition until Louisville.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:16 am
Hey Matt I heard you lost the site redesign in a bet with lil Wayne last night.. Any truth to this?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:16 am
I think Ryan’s photo should be on the KSR website and that’s my point of view.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:16 am
Did anyone else think that Plumlee looked and acted like the Russian from Rocky IV?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:17 am
Just heard a loud thud in the office. I ran over to make sure everyone was okay. It was Ryan Kelly.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:17 am
Hadn’t really thought of it until now, but I’m really going to miss the boys playing Indiana.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:17 am
Hey Matt,
You need to use the UK Football attendance strategy.
Your show at Stats had 40,000 attendance (people who wanted to be there) even though there were only 200 there.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:18 am
6 — Exactly what I told the girlfriend last night. “I will break you.”
November 14th, 2012 at 10:18 am
Did anyone else think the rebound Poythress got towards the end of the game on the offensive end of the floor was unbelieveable? Dude he was 2 feet higher than anyone else!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:19 am
The officiating was way too involved in the outcome of that game, but I have a feeling we will see that team again with different officials and a much different result.
Poythress played much more aggressively, which is when he is at his best. He now has to do it against bigger defenders and it will really put a strain on opponents’ defenses.
Goodwin will be a star…just needs to look for teammates more.
Duke players know how to work refs and our players do not, that, along with their 3 pt shooting, was the difference.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:19 am
Matt doesn’t seem in a good mood today… he needs a fur coat.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:20 am
Classic Calipari, accuses Duke of flopping during halftime, then after the game said “I did? I don’t even remember. It was a joke. You guys at Duke can take a joke, right?”
Stay Classy, Calipari. And you wonder why the nation looks at you the way they do.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:20 am
Jerry Tipton said there were 3 people at Stats for the post-game
November 14th, 2012 at 10:21 am
Are you serious? That’s terrible
November 14th, 2012 at 10:21 am
14 Yeah, except he was spot on, moron. No need to complain once the game was over.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:21 am
people are saying the archie goodwin needs to stay at the two because he is most comfortable there. I agree that he is most comfortable there, but Calipari wants what is best for goodwin. What is best for goodwin is to become a combo guard, like westbrook, like bledsoe, he already has the first step and can finish. We need to be more patient with the lineups from Calipari, especially having goodwin at point. Goodwin in the NBA will have to be a point guard, so Cal will push it all season.
Go cats
November 14th, 2012 at 10:22 am
Ron Caragher – http://usdtoreros.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/caragher_ron00.html
NFL coach has to be Josh McDaniels
November 14th, 2012 at 10:23 am
who? Kerriger?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:23 am
Why is it so quiet on the football coaching search? There has to be some leaks from people involved. Why are they not getting reported?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:23 am
18 Goodwin will be a pure 2-guard in the NBA…
November 14th, 2012 at 10:23 am
#2 good post, you put in some work.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:24 am
I have tried to maintain a positive attitude about this coaching search but given what Matt just said, I’m just about done with that. This could be a serious disaster. But I guess the team already is so…
November 14th, 2012 at 10:24 am
MIKE LEACH !!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:24 am
14) Dude- Duke should be getting props from UK fans for an excellent win. No excuses. Seth Curry was outstanding. Plumlee was awkward, but you won. Good for Duke. You got bragging rights, so brag away about the win, but don’t try your Calipari is classless garbage argument on here.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:25 am
That is one of the worst lists I’ve ever heard. Ron Caragher coaches a San Diego team that is in the Division-II. What a joke. If the boosters are giving up on Petrino after hearing that list then what in the heck are they good for?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:25 am
Caragher – 36-15 record
November 14th, 2012 at 10:26 am
i like this team, their gonna be like the 2010-11 team except without as much in conference struggleing on the road, i see a nice end of the year run in these guys, and we will beat louisville!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:27 am
Im not complaining, but I wonder why Bob Knight didnt call the games last night. He was talked to pregame then nothing
November 14th, 2012 at 10:27 am
Oh Jesus, the guy doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page. If we hire Ron Caragher, I’m gonna cry.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:27 am
14..eat it…you know the Dookies flop, everybody knows…and remember Cal don’t care what you homers think!!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:27 am
Matt, where has reverend do wrong been? I haven’t heard him call in months. One of my favorite callers i enjoy his calls every day
November 14th, 2012 at 10:27 am
Mitch Barnhart might seriously hire a coach from the San Diego Torreros or the San Jose Spartans. Either of those choices would be a complete embarassment.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:28 am
John Short is smoking something, god love him.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:29 am
Caragher may be all we can get, come on we are destination nowhere.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:29 am
23- Thank ya! I appreciate it… You think most of that is accurate?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:31 am
27. We have football boosters?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:32 am
Both the 1 and the 2 guards in the NBA need to be able to set up the team, handle the rock, and push it up the floor. Cal has repeatedly said that Goodwin is Tyreke Evans all over again. Goodwin’s stock will be higher if he can show ability to be a combo guard.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:32 am
36) I think points 3-5 are spot on. Not sure about Harrow, but I’m hopeful that he will be okay and come back stronger. We already knew Poythress and Noel were freak athletes and that Digger “Listen to Me” Phelps hates UK. lol..good post.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:33 am
At this point football is in my rear view mirror, what ever happens happens and we can’t get any worse! Wildcat basketball is here!!!!!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:33 am
Going forward it might be better for KSR to not even mention guys like San Jose St and San Diego HCs. Just to avoid depressing the fanbase even more.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:33 am
Needed Liggins/MKG to shut down Curry. Not sure if we have “that guy” (yet).
November 14th, 2012 at 10:33 am
I really didn’t have much problem with the refs either. I only think it’s appropriate to cry foul on the officials following a win.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:33 am
36 agree
November 14th, 2012 at 10:34 am
This is how the coaching list SHOULD LOOK!
Top Tier:
Bobby Petrino
Mark Helfrich
Kirby Smart
(NFL) not a fan
Middle Tier:
Sonny Dykes
Frank Solich
Kingsbury (sp?)
Bottom Tier:
Cutcliffe
Fulmer
Caragher
any other coach for a team that begins with “San”
UK should be heavy after Helfrich. Has a great relationship with Brooks.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:35 am
Cool Poythress pic…
http://kentuckybasketballforum.com/site/posts/555/poythress-is-a-beast/
November 14th, 2012 at 10:35 am
Mitch is carrying out C.M. Newtons work on destroying our football program. Petrino or Bust! They better get some chair backs at the soccer complex.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:35 am
coachingsearch.com says that sources close to Sonny Dykes say they would be very surprised if he pursued a Kentucky offer.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:36 am
I think Cal needs to work on getting Wiltjer open with the ball…THREE if he does.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:37 am
That post is better than many actual KSR posts I thought. I just love me some basketball!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:37 am
Hey matt, I thought the ncaa came out and said there was going to be more emphasis on getting the charge call right. They aren’t off to a great start.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:37 am
Going back to the Maryland game, those Maryland fans really sucked. Lots of obnoxious fans around my section. They’re the type of fans that love to be a center of attention through their negativity. They put on an act for fellow fans because they aren’t as fully invested in the game as we UK fans are. This is what happens when mediocrity is the norm as it is at Maryland.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:38 am
The next three teams are from the Barclays Classic
November 14th, 2012 at 10:38 am
Did you guys hear what Oscar said last night? He’s worried Mitch is going to run off half of our football fans by not hiring Petrino. Well, I’ll be the first one gone Oscar.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:38 am
JURICH!!!!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:38 am
I keep hearing people say that the game’s out come would had been different if we had Harrow. From the play I had seen from Harrow, I doubt he would had played (assuming he was healthy). He commits to many turn overs, he is way to soft with the ball, and his defense is terrible (he is more of a liability on defense then Wiljter). He he does not greatly improve I really don’t see him playing. I know Teague commit lots of turn overs early but at least he was tough and played great defense.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:39 am
I hate the EAS
November 14th, 2012 at 10:39 am
49) Agreed 100%. At times, I think Calipari was just being stubborn not running plays to get Wiljer the ball in space. I know Ryan Kelley is an all world defender, but a coach as smart as Cal knows how to get a guy room if he wants too. I think he wanted to work on other things, despite the score of the game.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:39 am
A snippet from a Vaught article from last night:
Well, another source shared this information with me today:
“Kentucky wants a NFL coach and that seems to be the first choice right now. Mitch (Barnhart) has been spending a lot of time calling NFL teams and seeking permission to speak with various coaches. The smaller named guys such as Caragher, Brown, Kingsbury are definitely out. UK wants a big name splash from the NFL. Petrino is still in the mix and not tabled as of today, but now seems like an unlikely choice,” the source with close ties to UK said.
One former UK football player I talked to is frustrated more progress is not being made and wonders why “contact with prospective coach had not already been made” if Joker Phillips was going to be fired with two games left.
“The search has the organizational dynamics of a kindergarten Halloween party,” the player said. “If Petrino is not hired, and goes elsewhere in the SEC, I’m not sure UK can ever recover. UK football will not recover from a no to Petrino decision. Will financially and competitively ruin a Division 1 football program.”
November 14th, 2012 at 10:39 am
Oh, no! Jurich has struck again. An emergency weather alert in the middle of the show.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:41 am
52) UK football fans don’t act like that.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:41 am
And Kirby Smart is not coming to UK
November 14th, 2012 at 10:42 am
60. That’s why I love iheart. Switched to 630 and all is well.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:42 am
Heeeeeeere we go. Jones telling all football fans they are stupid….
November 14th, 2012 at 10:42 am
Ron Caragher?!? If it’s down to him, we’re in serious trouble. Write it down.. we get a guy like this and UT or AU will hire BP and contend for SEC champ. and we’ll be right back where we are now.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:42 am
Is Matty driving himself right now? I sure hope he’s on speaker phone.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:43 am
Kirby is not coming to UK. Aint happening. Agree with caller… Sonny Dykes can score… defense is non existent! Petrino is the best hire.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:43 am
The recruits are saying they would play for Petrino at UK. Our qb recruit said he didn’t know who Sonny Dykes even is.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:43 am
Matt knows a lot about basketball, but he would be one of the last people I would get football information from.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:43 am
the coach at san diego before Carragher was Jim Harbaugh. he’s turned out pretty well. just saying…
November 14th, 2012 at 10:44 am
That’s what UT thought about hiring Alambama’s DC, Sal Sunseri. How’s that UT defense now? I think even UK can score 30 on them.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:44 am
Maybe this attitude about football is what Scnellenberger was talking about.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:45 am
YES. No way those guys win in SEC
November 14th, 2012 at 10:45 am
Sonny has expressed no interest in Kentucky.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:46 am
Kirby Smart=John Ray
November 14th, 2012 at 10:46 am
I think there will be a lot to be excited about next year and I’ll be supporting whatever coach they hire. At least give whoever is hired a chance to prove you wrong.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:46 am
kirby smart yes but to say dykes no he isnt up there texas state scored 55 points on him good coaches dont let teams score 55 points on them
November 14th, 2012 at 10:46 am
Petrino should be option 1, 1a, 1b and 2
November 14th, 2012 at 10:47 am
67 – I agree that Kirby isn’t coming. Petrino is the logical choice because there is no guarantee he lands one of the other SEC jobs and he could seriously want to come to UK. If he wants to come here then we need to lay out the red carpet to invite him in. If you don’t hire Petrino — when you could have — you obviously did not consider him and what he could do for our program.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:48 am
They must be throwing out the new name to make the actual hire look better by comparison lol
November 14th, 2012 at 10:48 am
There’s a bog difference between considering and going all out to get it done. I can consider dating the hot chick down the street, or I can put on my best suit, and go full court press on her. I may not get her, but I know I did all I could despite the fact I might fail or get dumped down the road….
November 14th, 2012 at 10:48 am
*big
November 14th, 2012 at 10:48 am
70 — I agree. He is clueless about football. He really is.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:48 am
How the hell do you go from Kirby Smart to Caragher with handful of guys in between?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:49 am
What? Are we supposed to pat Mitch on the back because he considered hiring the best coach we could ever dream of getting. Word on the street is that he won’t even return Petrino’s phone call.
Pat yourselves on the back KSR. You’ve helped Mitch with his dirty deeds.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:49 am
80 if Petrino is patient, there is a 100% chance he is offered a much better job than UK. His people know that.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:49 am
Does it not make sense that recruits might not be as willing to come to UK even if Petrino is the coach because of A. Our facilities B. Our history and C. Most importantly, the fact that everywhere Petrino has gone it’s ended poorly for the school (or NFL team) and the kids he has recruited? What do you think Tyler Wilson thinks about Petrino these days?
November 14th, 2012 at 10:50 am
If Petrino is not getting a serious look and only a look to pacify the fans then I agree that the administration is not serious about trying to take UK football close to the top levels of College Football, Let alone the SEC. I don’t call into the show because Petrino is not who anyone taking calls with the show want or want to hear about.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:50 am
I mean my god UK Football fans and AD/Doners want 2 things…. winning and butts in seats. Petrino can do both… and bring Quick and Hatcher to UK. You arent paying Petrino to have a perfect personal live and be mother teresa reincarnated… you are paying him to win football games, and he does that.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:51 am
If the people on the BOT and the boosters can’t convince Mitch to get BP, then they should at least let him know that if he screws this hire up, he’s out of a job
November 14th, 2012 at 10:51 am
To get back to the relevant sports, I was shocked that UK could not stop Duke late in the game, especially in the paint. I agree with G-Unit. The big men need to be a lot more disiplined and not sell out for steals in the post. Their biggest problem defending the paint was Noel,Poythress, and WCS needlessly helping weak side and leaving their men wide open for the dish & dunk.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:51 am
Exactly what #77 said. How can you not be excited about just about any of the coaches we are interviewing? Do you think we just call up and say hey-you will be the new coach and start next week? It doesn’t work like that which shows how ignorant some folks are. First-it takes time when doing this in the middle of fball season. Next, we will hire the best overall candidate that WILL TAKE THE JOB. Just get your tickets for next yr so you can support the team-ESPECIALLY all of you the wanted joker gone. You got what you wanted now you are trying to complain about the candidates. Beggers can’t be choosers and we are closer to beggers than choosers. GO CATS! #packcommonwealth 2013
November 14th, 2012 at 10:53 am
88 – Tyler Wilson and Ryan Mallett think highly of Petrino as a coach. Say they owe alot of credit to him for developing their skills.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:53 am
http://usdtoreros.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/caragher_ron00.html
here’s bio link on ron caragher….I know he doesn’t coach in the SEC but if we can’t get our top picks, I think this would be a great option and lets be realistic, what are the chances that we will get our #1 pick? I hope to be able to support any coach we get but I really hope its not Petrino….yes we need to win but not at the cost of all else. I believe the coach needs to be a role model for our players. Who would we want to teach and coach OUR kids? I remember meeting Coach Caragher during one of the women’s clinics and while I can’t say alot about him, he made a huge first impression on me and I was sad when he decided to leave Ky.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:54 am
If people really knew how Cal got here they wouldn’t have near as much faith in Mitch getting this right.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:54 am
Matt- Poythress was a beast last night. It was his 2nd real game. Outside of that bad decision he made to fall away and got blocked by Ryan Kelley, he was almost flawless.
And those of us who listened to Vitale on the broadcast last night, there’s no question who his 1st love still is- Duke.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:55 am
Vitale and Schulman were insufferable last night for the game.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:55 am
92 – Nerlens needs to just make his opponent score over him. Thats it!
November 14th, 2012 at 10:57 am
99) They have two 7 footers on the floor at times, and 4 elite athletes (Noel, WCS, Poythress, Goodwin). They should not need to help weak-side that much. It has cost them in rebounding and easy dunks by the opposition. Cal has to be drilling that into their heads right about now.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:58 am
92 I totally agree but are you really surprised by that? Kelly and Plumlee are much more experienced than Alex Len was and he ate UK alive down low. The bigs will get better with time but its still only November. Its got to be tough for these guys with Maryland and Duke back to back to start the year but I’m sure your concerns will be resolved. We have a lot of work to become the team we need to be and we need a healthy Ryan Harrow as well. I’m pretty pumped about the team’s potential though.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:59 am
And plumlee just now committed his 5th foul. Crazy the bias there was for him.
November 14th, 2012 at 10:59 am
Barnhart may not realize this, but he is screwed with this Petrino thing if he doesn’t hire him. We will always compare everything our coach is doing to what Bobby Petrino is doing.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:00 am
Say what you want about percentages, but a greater percentage of the fans want Petrino than any other coaching candidate and its not close.
Fans want Petrino
Recruits want Petrino
BOT wants Petrino
Boosters want Petrino
And most importantly other teams dont want us to have Petrino. Using Matts poor logic from yesterday you should never hire anybody to work for yoy because you might get sued. Complete clown on the mic.
And whilw there will be some backlash from fans if you do hire Petrino it wont even be close to the backlash you will receive when Mitch botches this hire.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:02 am
102) I’m not worried. History has shown us that they’ll get it by the new year, especially on defense. I thought they hustled like crazy and Noel really impressed me with his offense. They didn’t get pushed around as much and rebounding was better after just one game. I’m pumped too. They will be really good by March as long as Harrow gets back soon and he’s 100% healthy.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:02 am
#103 Plumless unofficially had 4 legit fouls before half time. And that’s ignoring small handcheck stuff that shouln’t be called on anyone.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:04 am
107) I thought the refs refused to call Kelley and Plumlee’s 3rd fouls in the 1st half. Other than that, I think the officiating was fine. Better than I expected even, for a Duke game.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:04 am
I don’t profess to know very much but I am surprised that no one at KSR knew Calagher coached at UK with Rich Brooks lmao
November 14th, 2012 at 11:05 am
Did bob knight chicken out?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:05 am
#106 I’m with you. I think the only thing we need to be worried about in the long term for this team with be the hack-a-shaq theory being applied to Noel. I think it’s fair to say he’ll never be a good free throw shooter. And the other worry should be our outside shooting. I’m not sure we have much outside shooting from our starting lineup.
Other than that I think we will be solid.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:05 am
most of the Plumlee fouls were off the ball.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:05 am
104 Plus, with every passing day, the fan projections for what Petrino “would do” at UK becomes more and more unreasonable.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:06 am
#108 Yeah that’s kind of what I meant. After Plumlee got his 2nd, they weren’t going to call a 3rd unless he murdered someone.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:07 am
Howard Schnellenberger is right about our football program: We are not committed to winning.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:09 am
111) I think Noel was something like 7-9 last night from the FT line. His form isn’t as good, but I keep pointing out that Davis was bad early on last year shooting FT. I think he’ll be okay. Not great, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he could manage 70% on the year. I’m more worried about WCS. He looks flat out terrible on the line.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:09 am
If he can remodel a Shoneys, he can remodel a fball program lol
November 14th, 2012 at 11:09 am
Football is not a nice person’s sport. Men cheat on women and women cheat on men. Others here have said it appears Joker cheated on his wife. If anyone has success at UK they will leave for a better job immediately, so there is no reason to not hire Petrino because he might leave. Give me a reason to be excited about the team and the games again. Mumme gave us that because you never knew what he would do in a game. Onsides kicks to start games, punters throwing passes, and utter chaos. You had to watch! The only other time in recent memory it was exciting is when we had Woodson under center. That is not much of a history.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:11 am
Kyle did not play well defensively. His help defense was atrocious.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:11 am
Matt shut that caller up!!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:12 am
115. I generally agree with that. We need a coach that isn’t satisfied with 6-6 and the same from our AD, regardless of what Matt or any other blogger/journo writes about UK’s ability to win. If they don’t think they’re going to win every game, who will?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:12 am
These guys have now played two complete college games against good competition. They should have perfected their games by now. If they have not Barnhart should be fired.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:13 am
118 I knew exactly what Mumme was going to do each game….lose most of them!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:14 am
I’ve yet to see if anyone has been able to identify the little fellar that ESPN said was Ryan Harrow. Anybody?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:15 am
Hiring most of these names on this list is resigning your program to a sub .500 program for the next few years.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:15 am
124) I know! Where did they get that? Did anyone else notice when they showed Polson coming into the game, they showed a graphic that said he scored 17 pts in the season opener against UCONN?!?! Rough night for ESPN producers.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:16 am
Disagree with Hink. I would take Kirby Smart in an instant.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:16 am
124 – Evan Daniels tweeted right after they showed it that it was Travis Trice.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:16 am
Maybe we can pay Barnhart based only on how many games the football team wins. Who do you think he would hire then?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:17 am
I wonder if the 40,000 people who didn’t show up to the game are pro Petrino.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:17 am
I’m finding more and more people that 2 weeks were against Petrino, that are now for him. At least 5 in the last week.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:19 am
132) Joe B. Hall’s comments changed my stance on Petrino.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:19 am
It’s unfortunate that people are upset that our AD passed on Bobby Petrino for a lesser coach? In the words of John McEnroe, “You can’t be SERIOUS?”
November 14th, 2012 at 11:19 am
132 you can add me and make that 6.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:20 am
Maybe we can poll the crowd during the game Saturday. At least it’d give us something to do.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:21 am
Cracker Barrell
November 14th, 2012 at 11:21 am
#135 will do. Was speaking on my circle of friends. Just evident that the tide is turning and I’d say it was 50-50 two weeks ago, now 65-45 or 70-30.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:22 am
I live in Chattanooga. I’m hitting up Champy’s for lunch. Best fried chicken anywhere and they also sell 40′s.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:22 am
Great ideas 130 & 136 only problem with polling the crowd Saturday would be like a 150 to 10 vote.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:23 am
138 Unfortunately, Petrino himself is in the 30%
November 14th, 2012 at 11:23 am
I dont think that Nicole girl is that pretty? Maybe its because I have a smokin hott wife…
November 14th, 2012 at 11:24 am
The Real Scott is awesome.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:24 am
California Chicks are on another level!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:25 am
real scott was real drunk
November 14th, 2012 at 11:25 am
dude if you are a UK fan and by logic…get your cable back on!!! dude sounds sober lol
November 14th, 2012 at 11:25 am
144 STFU!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:26 am
#141 I’m not arguing with you, but are you basing that on anything other than you personally think AU or UT will offer him the job? Maybe you’re right, but just shooting down the idea isn’t adding anything to the discussion.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:26 am
144 Thank goodness someone who knows something about sports finally posted on the show thread…lol…well done
November 14th, 2012 at 11:26 am
It’s only weird if it doesn’t work.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:28 am
Now trending… #THEREALSCOTT
November 14th, 2012 at 11:29 am
144) You know nothing. There are 4 other guys on the court playing defense too. Do you really believe Coach K didn’t identify Poythress as their worst defensive match up prior to the game and prepare his team for that? Poythress could’ve scored 30+ if he was playing one on one vs Suliman, but Duke was ready. He still played great.

what do you guys rate my wife on a 1-10 scale?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:30 am
Hey will Guy on the Corner Tickets give me a discount because I want to buy “The Real Scott” two tickets to the next UK Game- Radio Love
November 14th, 2012 at 11:32 am
Oh yea UK loss so we better get Real Scott’s cable back on…
November 14th, 2012 at 11:35 am
149 UK is one of the worst 2-3 jobs in a BCS conference. Even if he has to wait another year, he will get one of the better jobs. His agent is no idiot, he knows this. Look how hot Petrino is now as a candidate…if he comes to UK and doesn’t win, I mean REALLY win, like every single coach has failed to do before him, his name will no longer be mentioned with any big job. Look what happened to Bill Curry’s career-10-2 at Bama-then takes the UK job and is never heard from again as a major coaching candidate. UK is too big of a risk. He has been lobbying Auburn hard, but Auburn seems to want to talk to Strong also…suddenly his dad shoots off about UK…its gaining leverage, nothing more. Auburn will interview him, UT will interview, and who knows when the season is over who else will make a play for him. I know where his family lives. And I would love to see how he would do at UK (although I dont feel he will do much better than a coach we can get)…but the fact is, once he takes a better job than UK, it SHOULD be obvious he wasnt coming here.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:36 am
Darius Miller was the most underrated defender on the team last year. He led the team in lowest opponent FG%. Of course, usually MKG and Liggins 2 yrs. ago were defending the other team’s best offensive threat. Miller was a great defender though, and he’s proving it on the next level too.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:37 am
We very well may get to see Duke play Louisville next week if they both make it to the championship game of the Atlantis tournament. Louisville will have to get past Northern Iowa and Mizzou/Stanford winner to get there.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:38 am
You think Kirby Smart will be able to recruit at Ky like he can at Alabama! I’m pissed about this recruiting deal. Go try to get Petrino now. I have for 4 season tickets I pay for each year, and Mitch and his buds (MJ) are talking down BP. Lawsuit threats ect. I like Mitch but I think he’s gonna miss the bus on this one. Looks like long time wishfull UK fans will still pay the price for the ones that don’t have too, and make the decisions. I hope Oscar Combs is wrong about a split UK fans base.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:39 am
For some food, Right off I 75 North of Knoxville, TN Exit 108 is Qauker Steak and Lube 5616 Merchants Center Blvd, Knoxville, TN . They have some awesome buffalo wings!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:39 am
157 – I didn’t know Matt was posting in the show thread. Or you might be ryan since you are just repeating what matt says.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:41 am
Tee Martin could be looking for a job soon
November 14th, 2012 at 11:41 am
158 — I’m just not convinced that the market is so hot for him at Tenn. or Auburn considering: 1) they can get some other really great coaches at those two schools 2)their ADs will have to a lot of explaining to do as to why Petrino was hired other than some of the other great candidates.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:43 am
Matt’s going to get a talking to from Kentucky’s traffic enforcement agencies for his distracted driving. Doing a show while driving…
November 14th, 2012 at 11:43 am
Hey J you seem to be very up on everything UK, although he left us on probation Fran Curci did a hell of a job while he was here. Mumme left us in worse shape and people talk about how good he was.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:43 am
162 Show me where Matt said exactly that…go ahead I’ll wait…
November 14th, 2012 at 11:45 am
161 — Not at that level, but he will be able to do some decent recruiting for us. You got to understand that he has surely built up some valuable relationships with high school coaches all across the south. We would get some defensive players we probably wouldn’t dream of getting with most other coaches.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:46 am
Is it possible Mark Helfrich has already said hes not interested and thats why weve not heard his name?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:46 am
Speaking of Russian stereotypes, I’m watching the US at Russia soccer friendly. Russia just scored and they played an air raid siren in the stadium
November 14th, 2012 at 11:49 am
If we’re looking at assistants let’s at least look in the state of Florida for one, not Pease, but one that’s been at a school for awhile who would have some recruiting connections.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:49 am
173 — Maybe so. Chip Kelly has been rumored to be an NFL head coach next season and Helfrich will, more than likely, take over at Oregon.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:49 am
That was Herbert from FAMILY GUY!!!!!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:50 am
165 Like everyone on this show thread pumping Petrino…they only care about winning. The only difference is, at those programs they know he can compete for SEC/national titles. And it’s not just those schools…there will be much better jobs opening up if he is patient. There is no reason for he and his agent to be in some big rush to take a risk on UK. Personally, I think alot of our fans will be sorely disappointed in what Petrino would do at UK personally, but I still would be curious to see him here. But, if I were him, I wouldn’t come to UK in his situation, and I am a UK fan.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:50 am
Let’s hope we don’t play any more teams with big white centers who pump fake. Both games they have killed.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:51 am
Petrino didn’t have criminals at Arkansas. Geez, you make s**t up as you go along. It’s common knowledge that Jurich is the guy responsible for the boys town recruits too.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:52 am
Curry left Alabama because of idiot fans like we have. His last year there he was 11-1 losing to Auburn and some fan throws a brick through his window, so yeah I guess he was run out.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:53 am
Hire Mike Leach !
November 14th, 2012 at 11:54 am
Here’s a good article talking about Petrino – http://www.wdrb.com/story/19625175/crawford-why-post-petrino-life-is-no-picnic
November 14th, 2012 at 11:54 am
Boy the stuff Matt spews is unbelievable….Hey Matt, Jurich was the reason Willie Williams was at U of L….
November 14th, 2012 at 11:55 am
183 Is isnt even a matter of WHY he left Bama…he was a hot HC candidate when he left…once he went to UK, it ruined his candidacy for any other major HC job. There is a significant risk of the same thing happening to Petrino. It is his agent’s job to advise him not to take those types of career risks.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:55 am
183) Did someone throw a brick through Joker’s window? Brooks’? Tubby’s? Why would you compare our fanbase to that kind of act?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:56 am
Matt is so full of crap. Their players, for the most part, were not getting in trouble under Petrino. Quit with the B.S. Matt!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:56 am
i wonder if matt is sooooooo anti-petrino b/c if petrino is hired, he won’t have media access due to his past comments?
November 14th, 2012 at 11:56 am
Matt you are a punk! You are pulling the same crap as you did with Cal….
November 14th, 2012 at 11:56 am
YES! WE WANNA WIN AT ALL COST! MATT YOU DONT KNOW SH#* ABOUT FOOTBALL SO QUIT ACTING LIKE YOU DO!
November 14th, 2012 at 11:57 am
195) So did Penn State…word of caution.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:57 am
#178 You are assuming AU and UT want Petrino. What if they don’t? The options for him this year in the SEC are better than they should be next year in the SEC. If those two don’t want Petrino, we would be the best option for him until probably after the 2014 season. That’s a bigger gamble than coming to UK.
And I think the offense is already set up to succeed if he were to come to UK. Players in place to have a good offense. Just get the defense in shape and UK could have a good season next year.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:57 am
Simple solution to the problem. Barnhart can screen all of Petrino’s recruits. Now go hire him.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:58 am
THE REASON ALL OF THESE MEDIA CLOWNS DONT WANT PETRINO IS BECAUSE HE WILL NOT ALLOW THEM AROUND HIS TEAM…THEY LEARNED THIS FROM HIS DAYS AT U OF L AND ARK….
November 14th, 2012 at 11:58 am
195) If that’s the cost (Penn St.), you can count me out.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:58 am
Willie Williams was a Kragthorpe recruit.
November 14th, 2012 at 11:59 am
Personally I’ve thought the 2013 and 2014 seasons at UK could be good ones. Had Joker gotten through this year, I think he was poised to have a good season next year. But they made some stupid calls, were weak on defense, and then injuries hit the offense and they had nothing left.
November 14th, 2012 at 12:01 pm
204) Evidently, you’ve missed all of the Alan Cutler guest-host shows.
November 14th, 2012 at 12:09 pm
190 As far as I know no one has. For sale signs in coaches yards, and some of the idiotic remarks I read, guess they don’t add up to physical violence though.
November 14th, 2012 at 12:10 pm
Worst player on the floor for UK last night. Julius Mays. He is slow and bad on D and that 3 at the end of the game from the bench was so uncalled for. Sorry Curry is not elite at all, his brother is but not him, and Mays couldn’t even stay a foot behind him. He is a grad student playing like a lost freshman, time for him to grab some pine. Thought he was so bad I would have rather have given Beckham a shot.
November 14th, 2012 at 12:13 pm
I’m amazed that people who consistently are upset with Matt’s opinion continue to tune in. It’s his opinion….just like you have an opinion (which may not be correct either according to some people). Go listen to Chris Cross if you want something different.
November 14th, 2012 at 12:30 pm
I think most peoples problem is they don’t really think this is Matts’ own opinion, but ones that’s being fed to him by UK athletics.
November 14th, 2012 at 4:33 pm
Did you all think Laetner looked kind of “sweet”? Do you suppose he’s …..?
