[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]
During his pre-Maryland press conference with local media this morning, Cal said that Ryan Harrow and Julius Mays are questionable for tomorrow night’s game against Maryland. Neither practiced yesterday, Harrow due to flu-like symptoms and Mays to rest his leg after spraining it against Transy.
If Julius and Ryan Harrow can’t go, Cal said Jarrod Polson and Archie Goodwin will handle point guard duties. Wait, Jarrod “SHOOOOT” Polson? Yes. Cal said he is comfortable playing Polson if he has to.
More notes from the presser coming up in a bit.

wooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwww
November 8th, 2012 at 9:55 am
I can’t believe Mays won’t play. All he did was bang his knee.
November 8th, 2012 at 9:55 am
Yeah, that’s not good. I know we were going to be rough, but I’m not sure we could win without both of those guys.
November 8th, 2012 at 9:56 am
Then we are taking an L.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:03 am
Have some faith in Polson and Archie. They just have to keep the TO’s down and we’re fine.

I’m fine with playing Polson tomorrow, but listen.. If I’m Cal I tell Harrow to man the **** up. This isn’t tiddly winks… Get out there and play.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:08 am
Relax. Both will play.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:10 am
Mays will definitely play…Harrow most likely move on
November 8th, 2012 at 10:11 am
Maybe I’ll drop tomorrow and I man up.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:15 am
Hard to run the floor when you are Linda Blair with the squirts.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:15 am
I hate to say it, but if both of these guys don’t play, then I think it is almost certain that we will take an L. We were already a little bit shaky for this game to begin with, especially since the turtles got Wells to play for them. Hopefully the Cats will prove me wrong.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:15 am
No big deal here. I feel more confident in Polson than Hood. Watch them play. Polson acts like he’s supposed to be there, Hood plays like a walk on.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:20 am
This is the only area I have never been comfortable w/ CoachCal’s methodology of playing only 7 or 8 guys. First he needs more senior leadership on teams and the only way to get that is to have more juniors and seniors like Darius Miller. And secondly, what happens when a key player or two goes down to injury or something else? We do not have the depth that we should or easily could have. This is Coach Cal’s only missing link in his armour. Why he does it this way is baffling to me. There is no reason in the world why he couldn’t recruit 5 more top 100 players to come here and stay for 3 to 4 years. All the greatest teams in history have balance. How can we have balance when the only players contributing (w/ playing time) are FR & SO? Last year worked b/c of Darius…and TJ and MT. Our Kats should have about 5 FR, 5 SO-JR’s, and 5 walk-on’s every single year. This will bite Coach Cal in the behind at some point in his career here.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:21 am
Oh Lord…
November 8th, 2012 at 10:21 am
I feel like Mays will play, not sure about Harrow.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:26 am
WTF # 14. Calipari has been the most successful coach in college basketball the last 4 year and he’s coming off a national championship and you’re blowing hot air out your butt so you can sound smart. Get off the comment section you’re making a fool of yourself.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:27 am
This is Cal speak. Both will play.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:28 am
#14 molests collies.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:28 am
any of yall tried to play full on basketball with the flu? im guessing harrow will play but if the dude has a 102 temp and his coughing his lungs up i hope he sits out.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:30 am
If we somehow beat Maryland with 2 of our top 7 not playing, good God. Poythress will need to get his motor going, and Polson and Hood will need to step up big time. Also, Kyle will need to have his shot. Or maybe Archie will just go for 40 and set the freshman debut record and a college record in the new arena.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:31 am
20) Yeah, he won’t have his legs or arm strength even if he isn’t coughing or vomiting. Hopefully just a 24-hour bug or something an IV can counter.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:31 am
Pitino developing depth. lol How many years has he been at planet red? How many championships? Yeah, he’s doing an awesome job! Not!
November 8th, 2012 at 10:32 am
If Michael Jordan can play with the flu, why can’t Ryan Harrow?
November 8th, 2012 at 10:32 am
Depth is overrated. With the TV timeouts these days, there are a lot of breaks. And you can only 5 players at a time. Not 10.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:34 am
Seems like to me most players play their best with the flu! Its New York, new arena, media, scouts, the lights those boys are playing……
November 8th, 2012 at 10:36 am
what’s up with twany? he played a little in the blue/white game, but limped around because of a sore back issue. then, the 2 exhibition games start with our “injury report” and dude says there are no issues with anybody, everybody is good to go. then, no twany. couple of guards may be out … no mention of twany. cal didn’t say harrow is sick, julius’ leg isn’t fully recovered and twany still has a sore back = more min for polson … we don’t hear anything about him, just harrow and mays. it’s not that big of a deal, i’m good with cal playing who he wants for his reasons, just wondering.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:40 am
Ryan, ask Matthew who his starting 5 is this year?
November 8th, 2012 at 10:44 am
27- I’d also like to know about Twany’s situation out of curiosity. Been wondering that myself.
November 8th, 2012 at 10:44 am
we’ll win even if ryan and julius don’t play. what’s up with all the negative nimrods on here. polson’s a capable guard against a team like maryland
November 8th, 2012 at 10:49 am
To # 24”’I am stating the obvious “Because he is Michael Jordan”,
Or another way of saying it, as good a kid as JP is…I have seen Michael Jordan, JP is no Michael Jordan.
Good enough or do you need diagrams on an Etch-a-Sketch?
November 8th, 2012 at 10:55 am
17/19 – Take your blue goggles off for five seconds and enter the real world. We all like CAL and he has been the best coach in the game, but he’s not immune to criticism just because he won a title. Until he wins more titles than FEBUK or Tubby, he should and will be questioned.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:04 am
32- At this point I don’t see anything to complain about the results. But if you’re a cup half empty person, you can find things to complain about. 3 yrs,102-14, 2 FF’s, 1 EE and ! championship. From my “cup half full” eyes, at this point I see nothing to complain about. But, we all have opinions. That’s what makes the world go around.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:05 am
1 championship
November 8th, 2012 at 11:07 am
32: You definitely are a MANIAC. STFU and enjoy the season. He IS immune to criticism for this season and the next 5 as far as I’m concerned.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:11 am
27 – Twany has a hurt back, he’s not 100% yet
November 8th, 2012 at 11:16 am
Polson is a lot better than some of the guards we had during the Tubby and BCG era.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:26 am
Ryan, honestly, with UK’s history of football, can they be so arrogant and say that Petrino is too much trouble? What in Sam Hill is going on Gus? This is 1 of the few people that can come in here and win right away. At this point in UK football, they should consider anything.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:29 am
Ryan, yes, Petrino is worth the risk.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:32 am
Polson > Porter
November 8th, 2012 at 11:52 am
Nice knowing you, Allen!
November 8th, 2012 at 11:53 am
Drew, defense doesn’t score points.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:55 am
Porter was the worst player to ever wear Kentucky across his chest.
November 8th, 2012 at 11:56 am
No way a defensive coach can win at UK. Never going to get the players it will take on that side of the ball.
November 8th, 2012 at 12:52 pm
#14 is right on. I couldn’t agree more. The last two years we have been one injury away from being totally screwed.
November 8th, 2012 at 1:04 pm
Get used to Harrow missing games here and there for little if any reason. When he was at NC State, he sat out the game against UNC due to “flu like symptoms”, and missed the game afterwards too (which was 3 days later)… the UNC game was the biggest game of NC State’s season. And he traveled with the team, sat on the bench, looked fine, but didn’t play. The kid is not mentally tough whatsoever.
November 8th, 2012 at 1:36 pm
at least its not because they were getting paid or something lol
November 8th, 2012 at 1:39 pm
Polson > Liggins by far.
I thought Twany was the one farting around with his academics. Isn’t he the one on the Coach Cal Rader’s Club duty right now?
November 8th, 2012 at 2:09 pm
Suck it up harrow!!! You have a chance to play on Espn for the first game of the season with basically everyone in the nation watching and you have “flu like symptoms” not even the flu lol give me a break!
November 8th, 2012 at 2:35 pm
Polson is not that bad. He could easily be the 8th man this year. He’s better than Michael Porter which I know isn’t saying much. Everybody at Rupp please quit yelling “shoot” when Polson has the ball. Save that crap for Sam Malone and Brian Long.
November 8th, 2012 at 3:17 pm
#10 where did you go? I’ve been looking for you all season.
November 8th, 2012 at 4:01 pm
polson is a good basketball player. it’s that simple.
November 8th, 2012 at 4:52 pm
I dont think anyone has ever called Jarrod, Jarrod “shoot” Polson he will do great tomorrow he is a true pg (may not score alot) but will handle the ball well and drive and dish. No worries here if he plays significant minutes.
