Xavier Rathan-Mayes Does Not Put UK in Top 5

Some late Friday news after a successful trip to the State Fair (buck, buck). Xavier Rathan-Mayes has narrowed his list and it doesn’t include Kentucky. The sharp three point shooter who played so well at the Peach Jam is of course Andrew Wiggins’ teammate and a player that Kentucky had begun to inspect a bit more thoroughly. However, the Cats have yet to offer (possibly because of feeling better with a couple of other options) and Xavier seems ready to move on. While the list is said to be his “final 5″, I feel confident to say that if Kentucky were to re-ignite the heat on Xavier, the Cats would be right back in contention. But for now, that isn’t happening and Xavier will be looking elsewhere.

Wow, he looks like he just lost his best friend. Kinda feel sorry for him.

  2. jill Says:

LoL Yall I guess Worldwide Wes didn’t pay him enough to come to UK.LoL

  3. Jim Says:

This sounds like a good sign. If we have the Harris twins and Wiggins, he won’t get playing time as a shooting guard.

  4. bignutz Says:

and i am not losing ANY sleep tonight!

  5. tyrus Says:

Sorry X R-M…I’m seeing double as in twins.

  6. Bruce Pearl Says:

the hyphenated last name is the new trend in college basketball. mkg effect.

  9. Cal Says:

Look, everyone knows who we’re gonna get – EVERYONE KNOWS – so, we don’t need to offer ‘buddies’ just to get the star. I got this, people.

  10. Garmaster Says:

    I think it’s the Nancy Lieberman-Cline effect.

  11. JavaGuru Says:

but UK cooled on young to focus on XRM and then UK doesn’t even make his top 5….LOL talk about terrible information.

  12. Aaron C Bunch Says:

It’s been said on the show, and I think it applies here too. We don’t need to worry who any other team is gonna get, they need to worry bout who we’re getting! Likewise with our offense/defense. They need to just worry bout us. We’ll get the best players in America to come to Kentucky. They don’t have to be paid (Jill the Troll). We don’t need bribery at University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball. You get the prestige of playing for the all-time greatest, winningest program. If we decided Xavier is right for us, he’ll get the offer/honor of being a Wildcat.

At the end of the day, CAL is going to sign a top class that everyone will be happy with. Like he has said before, UK is not for everyone and I’m not surprised we didn’t make the Top 5 if we haven’t offered. Even if UK was his favorite school, most kids won’t list a school who hasn’t offered you when you have multiple other offers.

Bottom Line – We will sign another class of studs that will be one of the Top 5 classes in America at the very worst. Its nice not having to worry about recruiting.
