Trinity’s James Quick is one of the most heralded prospects coming out of Kentucky in this year’s senior class. Quick is a 4-star wide receiver (by Rivals) and the #1 player in the state of Kentucky. Kentucky and Louisville are two of the schools who are battling it out for his services. Quick has a list of 5 schools, and says he doesn’t plan on adding anyone else late in the game. The five schools currently in contention are Louisville, Ohio State, Oregon, Kentucky and Cincinnati. Many believe that Louisville might have the slight edge for the hometown kid, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping Patrick Towles from lending a hand in the recruiting effort.
Towles, a freshmen quarterback at the University of Kentucky, and a Kentucky native himself– would like Quick to join him in the attempt to bring Kentucky football to a higher level in the SEC. According to an interview with Rick Bozich, Towles has left a good impression on Quick thus far.
He did confirm that he’s been getting calls and texts from Patrick Towles. Towles is trying to convince him that UK is the best place for him to play. “He’s a comedian,” Quick said. “A good guy to be around.”
Kentucky will be facing a tough challenge though, with Ohio State’s tradition impressing Quick on a visit during a spring game. Oregon is also a trendy and exciting possible destination. Louisville’s efforts are being helped by another young quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater.
Quick still hasn’t decided when the announcement will come, but all eyes in the state will be closely watching in anticipation that the uber-talented receiver chooses their school.

1 – Agree, but he is the #1 player in the state so people are interested. I think Ohio State will ultimately be the choice, but wouldn’t be shocked either if it was UL.
% chances with Quick
Ohio State – 50%
Louisville – 35%
Oregon – 10%
Kentucky – 4%
Cincy – 1%

Don’t know where James will matriculate but I do know Oregon is much much higher than 10% and probably the quiet leader. Would love to see him join Towles and be one of the great duos in college ball….

If there was ever a year that UK needed to land the Top 5 players in Kentucky, this would be it. The Top 5 this year is about as good as it gets.

My money’s on the Suckeyes. If Towles/Phillips could land Quick AND Ryan Timmons, I’d be willing to give Joker another season even with a losing record. Quick likes Joker, but too much Ratbird in his background for it to ever happening. The Tards lousy conference may be enough to keep him out of their clutches.

Jesus Christ that kid is beyond fast. The way he accelerates from the defenders once he has the ball is unreal.
