During his appearance on Kentucky Sports Radio this morning, Cal had some news of his own. He announced plans for a Kentucky alumni game in Rupp Arena on September 15th, featuring the 23 former Kentucky players currently in the NBA. Details are still being worked out, but Cal said that the game will feature current pros playing against each other and members of the 1996 National Championship team. Proceeds will go to charity, including the West Liberty Recovery Fund.
Oh yeah, Cal says don’t call Rupp Arena. Tickets aren’t on sale yet.
UPDATE: Fear not football fans! The Courier-Journal’s Kyle Tucker check with UK and found out that the Alumni Game will take place at 2 p.m. on the 15th, giving everyone plenty of time to get to Commonwealth Stadium for the 7 p.m. kickoff against Western Kentucky.

I thought he said there would be a separate game for the 96 team. There’s no way those guys could play against the current NBA players. That would be a joke.

Splendid move.
CAL pushing his two greatest loves: The NBA and whatever team he’s coaching, which happens to be KENTUCKY.
It is a win win promotion.
p.s. I know he loves the Church, but that is aside from his life’s work.
