I still get chills whenever I watch footage of anything related to the national championship. Tears come to my eyes whenever I know that I got to be a part of that Tourney celebration my senior year at UK.

Wall, Cousins, Cal, Lebron, etc., etc., watching that video says that Josh Harrelson spiking the ball off of Sullinger’s chest was the point at which Kentucky basketball was all the way back . . . it just said don’t F with us, don’t ever F with us. I love it.

Oh people get over yourselves. With the exception of Bobby Knight those other guys had very good reason to believe that Calipari could have been a disaster of a hire for a program like UK. Mitch B. swung for the fences with this hire. Barnhart knew he was on the hotseat so he went all in on Cal. The hiring of Calipari would either have brought the program crumbling down with cheating and scandals or UK would once rise again to the top of the College Basketball Kingdom.

Great video. I didn’t appreciate them showing Tubby when they were talking about a program that wasn’t meant for everybody. He gave a great 10 years to our program, and even though it was with Pitinos team he still won us a national championship. I hope everyone appreciates what Tubby did for us.

28) What always bothered me the most about the hate for the program before Cal even came was the double standard.
a) We were idiots for running off Tubby, who was an elite and amazing coach, and we were spoiled by all the great basketball he gave us. He was as good as it gets and our expectations were just too high.
b) Kentucky isn’t elite any more. We didn’t strike fear into other teams. There just can’t be domination and elite teams any more. That era is over. Well, Duke and UNC and UCLA and MSU are the great teams now. UK just isn’t on their level. UK isn’t even on the level of Florida, the great program Billy D was creating. An elite coach wasn’t going to leave his program to come to an obsolete Kentucky program.
If they don’t think we can climb back to the mountaintop or be dominant every year, that’s fine, but don’t pretend that we hadn’t slipped years before we got rid of BCG. In the years since Cal came, he’s demonstrated the level of excellence you can achieve at an elite school (UNC, Kansas, even Duke). We expect to be top 10 every year and to contend for a title at least every 3 years. At an elite university, that’s sensible.
Much of the hate was illogical and didn’t make sense no matter how loudly they spat it.
30) Tubby won a title, and got to a few elite 8s, but he was never comfortable here. He didn’t want to recruit, and he couldn’t endlessly attract the kind of elite talent Kentucky should. Tubby as a coach was more suited to be a 30 year coach somewhere like Georgia or Minnesota. Occasionally have a great run with a special player (like a Dewayne Wade at Marquette), but generally be a middle dweller in his conference with as many bad years as great ones.

Watching that video made me realize two things, just how much I really love UK, crying to a video like this proves it, and the second point is just how much I sincerely hate Bob Knight and everything he stands for. Great video though.

Several of my out-of-state friends don’t understand the passion that is felt for this basketball program. I just know that I feel damned proud to be a part of the BEST college basketball program EVER.

Incredible video! The Caits have come so far in such a small amount of time. They’re in the title hunt every year, grabbing seemingly every headline and putting a record amount of players into the NBA via the first round much less other paths. Even players that seldom played (Orton) or never played (Kanter) go in the 1st round. Amazing, just amazing. Thanks Coach Cal. Now lets get #9!! Go CATS!
