Kentucky’s bid to send consecutive teams to the Little League World Series was denied by New Castle as they beat Warren County South 6-5 after a late rally.
New Castle got on the board first in the bottom half of the opening frame on a wild pitch after three consecutive two out hits.
South Warren would respond in the top of the second and scored all five of their runs in the inning.
New Castle would draw within a run in the bottom of the third after a towering double to dead center that hit the top of the fence and bounced straight up and back onto the field, a fielder’s choice, and a two out RBI single. New Castle would tie the game on a solo homerun to leadoff the fifth and would walk off with a the win in the sixth on a two out bases loaded single to left.
It was the first loss for a Kentucky team in the Great Lakes Regional final who were a perfect 4-0 coming into today’s game including three wins over teams from Indiana.
Congrats to Warren County South on a terrific season.
