Remember Torian Graham? After it seemed unlikely he would qualify for the 2012 season, the shooting guard from North Carolina fell off most schools’ radars. Not so fast, says Justin Byerly, the director of recruiting for BasketballElite.com, who tweeted today that Graham has qualified and Kentucky may be in the mix:
Hearing Torian Graham has qualified and just waiting on NCAA to clear him. Kentucky was mentioned in conversation.

Interesting. Verrrrry interesting. To refresh your memory, watch him work below:

come on down!
August 3rd, 2012 at 4:03 pm
bring him on
August 3rd, 2012 at 4:06 pm
no thanks

Would be a good player to have around for a few years. Or at least add a little more depth to this year’s squad.
August 3rd, 2012 at 4:10 pm
We don’t need him. He wouldnt make that much of an impact, plus I don’t think we need to waste a scholly when we hopefully have a monster class in 2013.
August 3rd, 2012 at 4:22 pm
this team needs one more player. UK isn’t likely to use all 13 scholarships on in-game contributors any time soon anyway, so I don’t know why everyone always says “don’t waste a scholarship”.
August 3rd, 2012 at 4:40 pm
As far as Scholarships go, this year we are using 9 or 10 of 13: Noel, Wiltjer, Poythress, Goodwin, Harrow, Mays, Caulie-Stein, Hood, Beckham, and perhaps Polson. Next year added is Willis, so lets say that is 11. Beckham and Mays graduate, so now its back down to 9. If you add the Harrison Twins up to 11. Then assuming all goes well with the recruiting class, maybe you add Wiggins, Xavier, Parker/Randle, that’s up to 14. If Polson goes back to a true walk-on, back down to 13, assuming no one leaves. I think it is safe to assume that at least 1 person will go pro, so that creates a new slot for Torian as a potential.

No need for all the math. We will have enough.
August 3rd, 2012 at 4:46 pm
my favorite thing about players like graham is with his athleticism and explosiveness he could be an elite defender. he can work on his all around game, but you cant really teach lock down defensive ability. bring him down.
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:00 pm
Stacy should have stayed with the team… he is better than Graham. Who’s time is he going to get? Maybe a 4 yr player
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:05 pm
The ability to ball is there for the kid. Does he have the ability to handle college life under the constant eyes of folks just waiting for a UK player to take a wrong step?
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:12 pm
Torian could add more depth to the backcourt and shouldn’t scare away anyone from the 2013 class. He would also be in the system a year when the 2013 class gets there. He would also be insurance in case there is an injury. I say go get him now!
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:13 pm
People who say “watch him work” are f ing losers.
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:40 pm
No doubt Cal is trying to bring this guy in. There is no reason not to add one more good player to this team.
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:42 pm
Got a gut feeling this kid is not a good fit.
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:45 pm
#67 overall by Rivals? Nah, thanks, but no thanks.
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:48 pm
#67 overall by Rivals is nothing to laugh at. So he’s not a McDonald’s All-American, if Cal thinks he’s good enough that’s all that matters. We will see…………..
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:53 pm
Well, if they’re looking at him, they better fine-tooth comb it after all the crap that came up with Bledsoe, and the Rose situation.
If he’s clear and won’t bail before finishing classes or anything, trust in the gatherer.
August 3rd, 2012 at 5:55 pm
I would say that ship has sailed. Pitino will make some room for him.
August 3rd, 2012 at 6:01 pm
Un-im-pressed.

I could be way off but I like his game: long, lean and athletic. He could be a great 8th man this year and be a solid player going forward. Mays and Harrow might need some help defensively due to lack of size. Bring him on.
August 3rd, 2012 at 6:41 pm
Nice post #22. This kid could be a valuable addition.
August 3rd, 2012 at 6:47 pm
This kid is really good. He’s long, athletic & talented. Let’s get him.
August 3rd, 2012 at 7:19 pm
This kid is really good, and would fit Calipari’s system very well. we need his speed and athleticism this year.
August 3rd, 2012 at 7:25 pm
16-His ranking dropped a lot because of all the academic trouble. This time last year he was ranked around 32 if I remember correctly
August 3rd, 2012 at 7:32 pm
Why doubt Cal? He knows what he has and what he needs. Besides it would be kind of cool to have three former NC State commitments in the Cat backcourt along with Archie. Plus, John wall is high on him….
August 3rd, 2012 at 7:50 pm
Louisville will take him, he can join their roster of 50.
August 3rd, 2012 at 7:51 pm
If your # whatever player in the rotation can be either Jon Hood, Twanny Beckham, or Torian Graham, which would you prefer?
August 3rd, 2012 at 8:50 pm
The kid is good…. better than that. I would rather have a big but if we can get him, I think he will work out. He
has some much better videos if you search. The kid can play.
August 3rd, 2012 at 10:44 pm
It’s hard to say but Hood could be the key to this team. If he can play up to the hype from high school we could use him. If not we could be one player short in the rotation. Don’t think Graham would play much this year but he could help down the road so why not. The numbers should work so take a chance he could be a Jorts or Vargas either way it won’t hurt.
August 4th, 2012 at 2:30 pm
I would imagine someone that transfers that much will keep on doing it.I can see him playing half a year for us and soon as something doesn’t go his way he leaves..I don’t want him at UK at all.it’s a waste of time.
August 4th, 2012 at 2:33 pm
I still wish we could of gotten Blackshear.
