“Lexington is For the Birds” Billboard Damaged

by @ 1:30 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

You may remember the whole controversy about the “Lexington is For the Birds” billboard, in which UL fans raised money to create a billboard to mock Kentucky. The billboard company would not put the billboard in Lexington, it ended up off the interstate in Frankfort (on the way to Louisville) and had a 1 month term life. Well apparently recently, the billboard was damaged outside of Frankfort. This is a picture from a UL fan site of the billboard with what looks like some type of grey thing over it. I am not sure if that is a sheet, or the material has been torn off, but regardless, it looks as if something has happened to it.

I hate to see the result, as it just feeds into the whole “Kentucky fans are (insert whatever word people who hate on UK fans choose to use)” mentality. But as a person who has had his car keyed and more “I am going to punch you in the face/kick your ass” threats in the past two years than most anyone I know, I am also not going to get up in arms about it. However if anyone ever lays a finger on Aaron and his basketball links…well there will be hell to pay.

  1. UK Says:

Someone really climbed all the way up there to vandalize that?

  2. Owen Says:

You don’t think it could have had anything to do with the 60+ MPH winds the other night?

  3. blah Says:

Can’t both Louisville and Kentucky fans agree that Frankfort is for the birds? What a terrible lame capital city.

  4. dukesucks Says:

    degenerate hillbilly fans

  5. Who?What? Says:

#2…We have had some crazy winds lately.

  6. Another Perspective Says:

That’s not because something came off. It’s because something is over it. Could be that they didn’t pay for it to stay up long. It its time is up, the billboard company may have covered it.

  7. kywildcat Says:

Clearly wind damage, good try matt

  8. DickenOscar Says:

A call to the Billboard Company might end a lot of speculation and accuasions.

  9. burger Says:

Aaron’s links are ok, but he had the hardest time following the simple request to not blind link Tipton turds.

And for that, I give Aaron a C- for his effort. It’s very similar to Pitino’s grade at Porchinis.

  10. big tim Says:

i knew god was a ky fan

  11. Louisville doesn't exist Says:

It’s not covered up! It has been torn off.

  12. ktmiln2 Says:

Considering there’s a 50 foot tree if my grandpas front yard, I am going to align myself in the “wind could have done it” camp.

  13. blurishturr Says:

#10 I got that, it was the wind.

  14. SymonSays Says:

How many bumper stickers do you think it would take to tape it back up?

  15. youarewrong Says:

#6, you are wrong. sorry chap

  16. Geez Says:

It appears some hick, uk fan tore it down. We do have a lot of hayseeds that support the team.

  17. onewouldsay Says:

A good hunch would be to check all the trailer parks in the area roofs.

  18. CapitalCat Says:

I pass this sign almost everyday since it is right next to my house, and can confirm that it is in fact the result of the recent bad weather and winds we’ve had. I guess the Good Lord didn’t like the sign either!

  19. Carlos Santitas Says:

Rick bought the billboard ‘health insurance’

  20. Bluey Says:

17 – At least those people don’t live in housing projects like the lazy fat azz West End UL fans.

  21. Bluey Says:

And I bet it was some Portland Ghetto UL fan, living off his first of da month check that keyed Matt’s car. We do have alot of them that support the team.

  22. Cats.by.5 Says:

#16 way to call UK fans hicks while improperly using a comma in your grammar. Well done. Sincerely, some hick wildcat fan.

  23. dr catfish Says:

There was damage to car dealerships on US 60 in Frankfort and a Wendy’s sign was blown over.

  24. tyrus Says:

    #2 – Exactly

  25. Frankfort Native Says:

#3 why don’t you spend a little time in Frankfort and you’ll see we are a city full of UK fans. We are not lame. We didn’t want the billboard but it’s a free country. Glad God took care of it. Must have been cheaply made. Oh wait, it was about Louisville. Enough said.

  26. jill Says:

#20-21—-your fellow fans must be proud…idiot…..my car was keyed at UK game and my UL plates bent in half…where do those people in Lexington live?

  27. Cats,by,5 Says:

I live in a trailer and have no teeth. I have a factory job and drive an old pickup truck.

  28. Will Says:

Thats a shame…happened a week too late. Had to see it driving back from Gatlinburg this past Monday. Would have loved to see it like this instead…

  29. Dee Says:

Lexington is for CRACKER BARRELL!!!! EXIT NOW!!!!!!!!!! SWEET…finally a billboard that got it right….
