Combine the height of Shagari, the great name of Woo and the mystery of Hunter McClintock and you have the newest sensation to hit UK fans everywhere, Mamadou Ndiaye. And it turns out that people outside of UK land are taking notice. The latest 24/7 Sports rankings have Mamadou Ndiaye as the #7 overall player in the class of 2013. That is an absurdly high rise and they now have him as the #1 overall Center in the class…for real.
Now as we told you earlier in the week, random people began telling us that Mamadou could end up at UK in the very near future. I have to be honest, I didn’t believe it. He is 7’5″ and at the time, he was unranked. But now all of a sudden, this unranked giant of a man is considered by at least one source to be one of the best 10 players in the nation. Could it be the case that Calipari would be interested in that type of player? I am still skeptical, but I guess it isn’t quite as improbable as it seemed just a few days ago.

Dude is 50 Shade of Ugly. No ill will intended but jeeeeeeeez! The guy makes Hasheem Thabeet look sexy.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:21 pm
Not sure I like that knee brace on his knee…what’s that about?
July 5th, 2012 at 6:22 pm
God. No. Please.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:24 pm
I find it hard to believe that we will ever have a 7′-5″ amputee as our starting center. Bench? Maybe.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:24 pm
His leg looks so fragile. It looks like a bad accident waiting to happen.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:24 pm
And with the layup from half court….Mamadou Ndiaye!!!!
July 5th, 2012 at 6:24 pm
What #3 said.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:33 pm
No better way to show a Jabari Parker or athletic four man he won’t get stuck playing under the basket, than to go get a 9 foot tall center that can’t play any other spot.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Jones. Appreciate the info. He’s gonna give Oden a run for the “oldest looking teenager in America” contest. Dude has to be a grandfather. Has to be.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:34 pm
The dude looks like he’s 30 or better.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:42 pm
I concur with #3. Hard to ever question Cal’s recruiting, but unless he recruits right over N’Diaye (and just has him on the bench as a “why the hell not see what you can get” player), I never, ever, ever, ever want to see this happen.
There is simply no way that N’Diaye is worthy of a top 10 ranking. No player that slow, no matter how tall, is a top 10 player. No way.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:44 pm
One question: Why are all Nigerian basketball players big and named Ndiaye?
July 5th, 2012 at 6:48 pm
Isn’t Double Pump the Pump Bros. team? Shouldn’t we avoid them like the plague??? Looks like it could be fun with him, but I want nothing to do with those two.
July 5th, 2012 at 6:51 pm
It looks like he has a prosthetic leg in that first pic.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:02 pm
The other question is, could this player realistically ever be eligible to play? Run, please, Cal. We would be better off by a long shot with two 6-8 to 6-9 power forwards that are ranked numbers one and two.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:05 pm
I think he is slow and would hurt the team .As quick as Cals teams get up and down the floor he would alway be on the wrong end.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:10 pm
I think this guy is an injury waiting to happen. Think Kenny George.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:10 pm
Please please no……. just go hard at Julius Randle and we will have WCS and be fine. please no………. plus he sucks
July 5th, 2012 at 7:13 pm
Who has him ranked #7 overall?
July 5th, 2012 at 7:13 pm
#15, why would he not ever be eligible?
July 5th, 2012 at 7:19 pm
This is how you coach a Super big tall guy. Jack Nicholson played Coach in the 1962 film “One flew over the cuckoos nest” (one of the best movies ever):

No slight meant to the player in question to this post.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:19 pm
Sign him up! Somebody get this young man some damn sneakers!
July 5th, 2012 at 7:21 pm
The asian boy in the bottom pic. looks like he’s ready to soil himself.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:27 pm
That might be the ugliest dude in the history of the world. I don’t know if I’ll be able to watch UK basketball anymore as long as he’s in the game. Jeeesuz.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:30 pm
Could see him filling an “enforcer” or “goon” type role.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:33 pm
what a bunch of trolls on this board …
July 5th, 2012 at 7:39 pm
If you don’t like a comment, it is always “trolls”. Not anything of substance. just call people cliche names. Viable posts?
July 5th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
***********People, please watch video of this dude before making an opinion!! He is 7’5, sure. But this guy would slow down the team something terrible!!! He could no more survive in the dribble drive offense than a box turtle!!! No way Kentucky goes after him…. NO WAY.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
uh, yeah….Mama don’t….
July 5th, 2012 at 7:49 pm
I can’t wait to dutch oven this ugly mofo.
July 5th, 2012 at 7:54 pm
Ugly is not just a mirror thing. It is also an internet comment trait.
July 5th, 2012 at 8:03 pm
So does coaching help the big guy. Some more from the movie, (the game):

July 5th, 2012 at 8:05 pm
You’ve been punked.
July 5th, 2012 at 8:20 pm
No No No. The guy has acromegaly/giantism. He’s wearing a knee brace in high school. No, just no. He’s DTF. No, freak. Doomed to fail
July 5th, 2012 at 8:21 pm
is he the son of the player of the same name who played at auburn back in ’00?
July 5th, 2012 at 8:25 pm
35–or the father?
July 5th, 2012 at 8:47 pm
He runs the floor like a 45 year old shaq
July 5th, 2012 at 9:21 pm
I bet half the people that talk about him bein ugly look just like him. But he wont fit in our system that is he is to slow to run with out national champ squad.
July 5th, 2012 at 9:28 pm
This guy has John Riek Part II written all over him. Unknown 7+ footer comes out of nowhere, ends up over-ranked by the “experts” and does nothing in college.
July 5th, 2012 at 9:55 pm
Who would you rather have on the bench… a 7’5 inch prospect or Polson and Malone? Hell or Eloy for that matter…
July 5th, 2012 at 10:02 pm
#7 Prospect?
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
How is a very slightly taller, less coordinated, slower, ALREADY INJURED (guessing that knee brace isn’t decorative) slightly bulkier Shagari Alleyne could make the top 10 on anyone’s list. Acromegaly does not make you a good basketball player.
July 5th, 2012 at 10:14 pm
Damn. I had. I idea KSR’s board was filled with so many recruiting and developing experts. I can’t believe John Calipari doesn’t come here more often looking for info on who to or not to recruit.
July 5th, 2012 at 10:15 pm
I had NO idea.
/suck it autocorrect
July 5th, 2012 at 10:39 pm
He has the absolute smallest ankles I have ever seen. Like 8 year old girl ankle.
July 5th, 2012 at 11:07 pm
Most of the videos everybody has seen are old. Check out his newest mixtape from the 2012 NBPA Top 100 Camp against very good competition. He has improved a great deal and looks like he is developing into a monster. He’s better than we think.

Boards and easy buckets. I actually went to school with Kenny George and his sheer size was enough to give opponents fits (they guy could dunk while standing on the ground still). UNCA actually played UNC pretty tight with Kenny. Kenny however had some serious conditioning issues so he could only play at short stretches of time. That wouldn’t be much of a problem considering if he was picked up he’d probably be playing as a back up.
July 6th, 2012 at 7:12 am
….Coach Cal will no longer yell from the bench or use the dry-erase board to draw up plays, instead he will communicate via an unique series of verbal “click-click-clicks” presently being used on the Serengeti to warn other tribesman of impeding danger.
July 6th, 2012 at 8:33 am
47. While your user name is a might offensive personally, your comment was just plain hilarious!
July 6th, 2012 at 9:51 am
This is what happens when you feed Shagari after midnight.
July 6th, 2012 at 1:28 pm
I watched the video that SkyDogg put up there, and this guy is infinitely more talented than Shag ever was. He appears to be a fast learner. What remains to be seen is if he can stay healthy, and stay out of foul trouble. The revision of the flop rule might help in this respect.
For all of those calling him ugly – basketball ain’t no beauty contest. If it was, A.D. wouldn’t have won all those POY awards. Don’t get me wrong, I love A.D. Just sayin’.
