Anthony Davis will be landing in Las Vegas very shortly to begin training — or watch training — with Team USA for the 2012 Olympic games. It’s very unlikely that he’ll actually play over these next few days, but USA Basketball director Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Kryzekszskwskwkiszi may have no other option but to add him to the final roster when it’s announced on Saturday.
Nine players are already assured a spot with the team: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love and Tyson Chandler.
Six others will be competing for the final three spots: Davis, Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, James Harden, and Eric Gordon.
With the lack of depth down low and the star power at guard and on the wing, it’d be hard to put Gordon, Harden, Igoudala, or Gay over Anthony Davis for one of the three remaining spots.
I like his chances, even though he’ll be sitting out this week. The ankle should be fine in time for London.

You got to think it’s going to be Davis, Griffin, and Rudy Gay maybe Iggy that are loaded with guards and wings already, hard to see them taking Harden or Gordon

No-brainer… If Davis is healthy enough, he will easily be on the team.

Based on what, exactly?

Still don’t think he’ll make the team. Hard to fight for a spot when you can’t even practice. Love, Chandler, Griffin, Melo and Lebron will be the USA big men.

Griffin and gordon if he signs a contract are on the team. They need another big so that leaves davis now that odom has pulled out. Then coach K could be grooming davis for rio in 2016.
