What a sweet couple
Rivals.com has updated their rankings going into the meat of the AAU season and once again, Kentucky has a strong presence (UK targets in bold):
#1 Jabari Parker
#2 Julius Randle
#3 Andrew Harrison
#4 Aaron Harrison
#5 Aaron Gordon
#6 Chris Walker
#7 Kasey Hill
#8 James Young
#9 Anthony Barber
#10 Isaiah Hicks
#25 Kuran Iverson
#41 Troy Williams
#96 Derek Willis
At this point, the top four players and James Young at #8 all have offers to go to Kentucky. Derek Willis is of course committed to Kentucky and Chris Walker, Kuran Iverson and Troy Williams are all, to some extent, involved with the Big Blue. If Kentucky had its druthers, its perfect class would be the Harrison Twins, James Young, Jabari Parker, Derek Willis and then see who goes pro. But no matter what happens, UK is set to be loaded.
The big stories coming out of the new rankings are these: #1 UK is all but certain to get three of the top eight players in America. That is sweet and #2 Derek Willis drops almost 70 places in the rankings. This is a big summer for the Kentuckian.

Probably will get the twins and James Young, but little or no chance on Jabari and Julius Randle. They are bound for Tobacco Road. Still a solid class though. Shocked at Willis’ drop… I wonder what happened with him.

What ever happened to the Player from South America by way of Houston?

Proud to see that my beer is being enjoyed by the BBN.

Always smooth.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:09 pm
I think we get for sure the harrison twins, james young, and then hopefully either jabari parker or julius randle. theres no way we miss out on jabari parker AND julius randle. just dont see that happening, especially with calipari. i mean, if you are a top highschool recruit. why would u NOT go to kentucky???? just by signing a LOI it makes your draft stock skyrocket
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:13 pm
@5 – ask Shabazz that question.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:19 pm
Aaron Gordon isn’t a UK target?
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:20 pm
I thought Aaron Gordon also is a UK target? He probably ends up on the West Coast but we’ve offered him.

How does Willis drop that much??!! Did he shrink or did his knee fall off or something?
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:22 pm
@7 – I think Gordon is probably going to the Pac-12.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Matt, tell us why the article on Missouri was taken down.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Is it just me or is the 2013 class not going to be the “insanely awesome, best class ever” that everyone has been talking about for months?
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:24 pm
How many commitments does UK currently have? I trust in Cal, but wouldn’t be surprised to see the 2013 class to work out for us the way many are predicting.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:24 pm
Where did the Mizzou Girls go to????
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:25 pm
Meant to say – “not work out for us as many are predicting.”
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:26 pm
@6. i dont think julius randle or jabari have any connections to adidas like shabazz did. i think shabazz wanted to go to UK. everyone around him just wanted something different, making his decision for him, you could tell on the espn special that was the case.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:28 pm
1- Tabasco Road sucks. It’s where NBA careers have been dying since 2009.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:29 pm
As of now I would say Jabari will land at MSU. It’s close to home and he moved his signing day up to November 8th instead of signing in the spring which doesn’t look good for us. Randle is almost a lock for Duke. We are as of now trying to get Aaron Gordon to BBM if we do we will have a serious chance in landing him. The Harrison Twins will commit within the next 2 weeks instead of in October like they said they were. The same with Young, he will be ours before the end of July. The reason Willis has dropped so much is because since he committed he doesn’t feel like he needs to do the AAU circuit anymore so his stock fell a lot, he is still going to be a very good 4 year player like Darius. If we don’t land either of the top PFs I think we will offer Walker and he will jump all over it.

13)
Getting the Harrisons and James Young would give us 3 top 10 players. Add in Chris walker who wants an offer, and that’s four of te top 10.
The thought was back in the past that Randle and the twins were UK leans. At that point, Andrew was #1 and Randle was #3 with AAron #5 i believe. That would have been 3 of the top 5, which is unheard of.
I think Parker is a reach, and would rather not get Muhammed-ed again. He will probably wait til the end like Shabazz, so why not lock up Young and Walker now? a class of #3 #4 #6 #8 is pretty stellar.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:36 pm
#5, good point. It is difficult to think that Cal misses out on both of them. When Shabazz and Noel were still not committed Cal refused to miss out on both of them. Sure, he missed out on one but he got the other. This might very well be true for either Parker or Randle.

Wow. That Mizzou post got taken down in like :15. And yes, Mr. Franklin, Mizzou IS in COLUMBIA. Not COLUMBUS.
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:40 pm
Derek dropped in the rankings a month ago. And everyone on here should really understand by now not to worry about recruiting especially in 2013
July 3rd, 2012 at 2:59 pm
Whats the jackpot for picking the month Willis decommits?
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:07 pm
what about Wiggins? Is he going to reclassify?
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:25 pm
@25 No Wiggins is not going to reclassify he is going to stay in 2014, and I’m just going to say I think he will make all of us UK fans really happy within the next month to two months
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:28 pm
18) “Tabasco Road sucks. It’s where NBA careers have been dying since 2009.” — really? Did you miss the draft? 5 of the top 17 picks were from Duke or UNC. Kyrie Irving was the #1 pick in 2011 draft and NBA ROY….. Have you been drinking today?
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:38 pm
27- yep. Smokin angel dust too
I’ll give ya Irving, but the rest are flops.
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:40 pm
Isn’t Randle and not Parker Cal’s Top ‘Get’? The Harrison Twins are strong probables-right?. We have a good connect w/ Young and already have 6’9 Willis in the fold. It is difficult to recruit too far out at UK b/c of who may go early. I felt both Lamb and Teague shoulda, woulda, coulda returned but…Out of next year’s class, who will we lose and how many? Noel probably. “They” say Poythress is a beast, but? Will Harrow and/or Goodwin go or stay? Maybe IF UK has another stellar year and deep run and these young men ride the wave cleanly. Wiggins in the 2014 Class is WOW; Lebron-like WOW. It’s great being KENTUCKY again!
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:44 pm
@29 Actually the Harrison Twins are Cal’s top priority, and we have the Twins locked up there is no worry about them. I think once Cal gets a commitment from the Twins and Young he will turn the heat up on both Randle and Parker if they haven’t committed by then.
July 3rd, 2012 at 3:45 pm
Committed elsewhere that is.
July 3rd, 2012 at 4:05 pm
she is cute.
July 3rd, 2012 at 4:11 pm
I see Nerlens, Poythress and Harrow as 1 year guys if we have a good year again next year. Archie will depend on his numbers and how deep the draft class is. And if we do something special and make it 2 in a row next year who knows could be one more. The 2013 class will be built around the Twins. If we can get a top ranked big man I think we will but it will depend on who’s available and how good Cauley and Wiltjer are by the end of next year. I would be happy with a class of the Twins, Young/Selden, Iverson/Walker, Willis. If the Iverson kid has the skill to play the 4 he could be another beast in this offense.
July 3rd, 2012 at 4:17 pm
Bleed Blue…where are you getting all your information on when and who is signing for the 2013 class?
July 3rd, 2012 at 4:31 pm
Is that an iphone in that guys pocket or is he just really excited to be drinking a dandy keystone light?
July 3rd, 2012 at 5:49 pm
why worry about something that far down the road and while you and i think they all should go to uk,other scools have good programs, and beleive it or not if a player is good enough he doesnt have to go to uk to be a one and done beal? rivers?
July 3rd, 2012 at 7:57 pm
Feel like you guys are really under-reporting the recruitment of Aaron Gordon, #5 on this list, #4 for ESPN. He’s Cali’s best player–has been for 2 years–and Cal thought enough of him to jump in the fray and give him a scholarship offer. Kansas & ‘Zona may have an edge with him, but who really knows at this point. This kid is a human-highlight film; and to prove it – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8A5mAK7ujs
Kid’s amazing, and UK b-ball scholarships are hard to turn down when offered a year in advance.
