I know it’s late, I know you’re weary and I know your plans don’t include me writing about UK notes. But, with Franklin and Bash still a few minutes away, it is worth a couple of tidbits:
— It is still worth keeping your eye on Tony Trocha, the Colombian big man that is attempting to qualify and be part of the 2012 class. UK likes him and if he becomes eligible, there will be significant interest. He had a beastly game today for his team, scoring 24 and 10 and showcasing a power game that has scouts excited. As Calipari sometimes says, the 2012 class is done, unless it’s not. And maybe it’s not.
— Talked to a longtime UK football observer who is usually on the pessimistic side today and while he still exudes pessimism, he did give me one bright spot. He is very excited about the attitude/abilities of the new Freshman class. “Last year was the first year that the Freshmen class looked like SEC players when they arrived on campus. This group is going to be the second. I am not sure if it will translate to anything on the field, but I love the class as a whole and they are all ready to work.” In an offseason where a positive word is rarely heard, that is good news.
— Ryan Harrow is an explosive athlete. I know that some people know that, but I think it is true more than many realize. His ability to leap and throw down at the rim is going to be eye-opening for many. A dunk that he had against Alex Poythress during pickup games is already the stuff of legend around the program and I think we will see more of it during the season. Husky tone or not, he plays like a man.
Finally, a quick personal note. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the many thoughtful comments from KSR fans about my departure from KSTV. You folks have been so supportive of our efforts over the years and it has been wonderful to realize how many of you are fans of what we do. I wish things could have worked out there, but they did not and now we move on. Much to the chagrin of many Card/Frosty Tip fans, there will be more to come in the future on the television side, but for now I am focused on continuing to improve the website, taking it through its summer redesign (it is actually happening this time…the check has been written) and making the radio show even more entertaining. When we are able to announce our new endeavors, those that have danced on my grave in the last 48 hours may be disappointed. But as the old JFK saying goes, “Dogs don’t bark at parked cars” and as the last 2 days have shown to me, there are many of you who appreciate what we have tried to do. I can’t thank you enough for your support of KSR and we look forward to keeping the train moving forward in the future..
And with that…on to mirth and hilarity from that wacky legal duo….
