Best Kentucky Fathers

by @ 3:15 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Happy Fathers Day, everyone.

I hope this holiday of sorts is treating all of you well. Not everyone has a good relationship with their father or even know their dad at all sometimes. With that in mind, today is a good enough day as any to think back on life and be thankful that someone was able to spark your life into being somewhere down the line. I invite you to take a break from your Sunday brunch or what have you to pay our respects to some of figures that have spawned some great Commonwealth success. Here’s a tribute to some of my favorite UK dads:

Probably the most unique and unexpected persona to emerge out of UK was Joshua ‘Jorts Harrellson. His success story was a whirlwind ride that landed him in the NBA. We can all thank the ever-awesome Doug Harrellson for that.

Vince Calipari was a game changer. He’s been through tough family times with the passing of his wife, but the fact that he gave us all John Calipari is enough to sing his praises.

I didn’t realize the human genome project had gotten to the point of majesty that allowed Anthony Davis to sprout up out of nowhere, but Anthony Davis, Sr has mastered it. Yay science!  This dad has given us a national title, and I couldn’t be happier.

In a time of need, Buster Patterson‘s boy came to the rescue for UK. Patrick was an integral part of making the early Billy G era not a complete and utter disaster. Thing could’ve gone much worse if Buster’s seed hadn’t turned out to be one of the most stand-up, hard-working players in UK history.

Last but certainly not least…our very own Thomas Beisner has turned out to be a great father. That, along with his new job, has caused him to step away from the site, but Beisner is one of KSR’s favorite fathers without a doubt.

Wonder why matt is so quiet on being suspended from his tv show?

I sat behind Buster and Tywanna Patterson at a Blue White Scrimmage a few years back. They’re both incredibly nice.

2 – all celebs go through things like this. I’m just a little butt hurt and that’s all.

is matt really suspended from kstv?

Last 5 semesters, UK athletics has averaged a 2.92 GPA… And some dillweeds were downplaying basketball players for being over 3.0. That it was easy for UK athletes to be over. Uh, apparently not jackasses.

A funny fathers day video. Also has a UK cameo appearance.

Okay wait. Anthony Davis’ Dad is totally a vampire. Which explains the AD pic
    from this past week.

#6. You forgot an extremely important comma in your sentence. What was
    your grade in ENG101?!

BTW, in my college career, my first two years of college I struggled along
and got a 2.67 GPA. By the time I finished, I had finally figured out how
to work the 3 jobs, run a household, and study. I ended up National
Dean’s List. So all this judging people by their GPAs is kind of silly
in the first place. Good students have low GPAs sometimes.
And truthfully, numbskull students have good GPAs sometimes.

Sadly, the GPAs that really would matter would be the ones for Medical Doctors.
But no one ever seems to ask that. I think MDs should have to put their grades
up on the wall along side their certificates. If you got Cs, Ds and Fs all through
med. school, I don’t want you chopping on me, buddy!

On the other hand, if you win a NBA Championship and you failed
Micro Economics or Comparitive Religion, who even cares? No one.
