Tim Peterson and the Mets Want Afternoon Notes and Podcast

by @ 2:00 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Who’s that? Why, that’s former Kentucky RHP Tim Peterson and a representative from the NY Mets, who drafted him in the 20th round of the MLB draft. A loyal KSR reader spotted the two hammering out the details of Tim’s contract late one night this week at where else? Waffle House. Tim, feel free to get those hashbrowns scattered, covered, smothered, and peppered now if you want.

Just a few notes on this slow Friday afternoon…

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is working out with the Washington Wizards today (3rd pick), and said if he joins the Wizards, he thinks they could be a playoff team: “I mean, with John [Wall] and Nene? I think it’s a playoff team.” MKG, the ultimate competitor, also admitted that he would most likely “cry some nights” if his team were to constantly lose. Yeah…really hoping this works out for you, MKG, ’cause we can’t have you crying.

– In recruiting news, 2013 recruit Wayne Selden told the good doctor Jerry Tipton that if the Harrison twins were to choose Kentucky, then he can’t see himself going there. Selden also said that he hasn’t spoken to the UK staff recently, and isn’t sure where he stands with them. Wayne, I’m guessing that depends on where UK stands with the Harrison twins.

– Speaking of, we told you about Aaron Harrison’s minor injury during a game at the NBPA Top 100 Camp this morning. Well, while his brother rests on the sidelines, Andrew Harrison is tearing it up. He has been the star of the camp thus far, and during last night’s game, the 6’5″ guard showed off his skills, dishing to his teammates and creating scoring opportunities. He’s not afraid to take it in himself, either. He and his brother are hoping to make a decision on or by October 28th.

– Hot100Hoops.com recruiting analyst Van Coleman seems to think Duke is the current leader for Jabari Parker: “The team that has the early lead is Duke. They have been there the longest and Parker has talked about them the most. I have no gut feeling (about Parker’s choice). He is pretty laid back. But the premise is correct. Michigan State also would be a front-runner. Kansas is a darkhorse. And I wonder if Arizona might become a factor.” I think Cal might have something to say about that.

– Aww, Louisville got their Final Four rings today. How sweet.

L1C4th (okay fine, maybe 3rd)

– Here’s today’s radio show, in which Matt played nice, and John from North Carolina may have logged a “Best of” quality call.

Final Four rings? Is this the NCAA’s version of a participation trophy? Make sure their mommies packed a healthy snack for them while your at it.

  2. Amaze Pants Says:

Dook fans (and especially the media) can never, ever say they don’t go after one-and-dones.

  3. shields eyes Says:

Cats are playing South Carolina on ESPNU right now. Go Cats!

  4. nolablue Says:

If I filled out a survey of just one thing I would love to see change about KSR, it would
be a serious curtailment of text and photos about that ridiculous school in Louisville.
If I wanted to know about them, I’d go to their ridiculous website.

When y’all give them so much space, it kinda makes me think y’all really do
    think they are our rivals.

If you want to give some text about our rivals, tell us what Bruce Pearl is doing these days.
Have lunch with him. Interview him. Tell us what’s going on at UT. Or UF. Or anywhere.
Except that glorified city college off of I-65 South.

    Thank you. GO BIG BLUE.

  5. UKBlue Says:

They give out rings for just going to the Final Four? This is just like giving out trophies to little kids just because they played.

  6. Richard P Says:

I personally think UofL’s rings are much nicer than UK’s. It must be the integrity that comes with UofL’s ;)

  7. Little Ricky Says:

what does Louisville know about integrity? I love it when UofL fans use that word, though I’m pretty sure 6 is just sarcasm and not really a UofL douche. They use it often, though, and I’m forced to asked them how banging a skank on a table while you are married to someone else has anything to do with integrity.

  8. Matthew Hays Says:

Hey guys. As some of you might be aware, I was recently invited to contribute to rivals.com’s basketball recruiting section. With my knack for reading CBSSports headlines, they realized my ability to make valuable contributions to their already impressive body of work. I’d like to take this opportunity to share with fellow UK fans and KSR readers my first version of the NEW rivals.com. Hope you all enjoy!

  9. Great Article Says:

    8. Good stuff Mathew.
I for one look forward to getting to read more of your work on Rivals. Good luck with the new gig and make the #BBN proud!

  10. Pabloco Says:

    L1C4th is spectacular.

  11. markymark Says:

I’m confused by the center of UofL’s ring — is that a picture of a diamond?

  12. mike Says:

#5- well then why do you have FF4 banners hanging in Rupp….I guess UK did not accept their ff4 rings 2 years ago because they are for kids….

  13. bluefan Says:

OMG #6, did you just use the word integrity in the name of Richard P? Take your comedy act on the road, Bud. That’s freaking hilarious. Integrity?!?!? Integrity left that program with Denny Crum.

  14. Eric B. Says:

    2) Duke and Coach K have said they go after 1-and-dones (Irving, Rivers), the difference is they don’t live off them. Coach K will have 4 seniors on his roster this year. He recruits 5-star studs that may leave after one year, but combines them with valuable role players and glue-guys that stick around and progressively get better.

But yes, in this day of college basketball, you need a few 5-star studs to win a national title.

  15. mike Says:

#13, your right “integrity” is having 2 final 4′s banned at 2 different schools…

  16. duhville cat Says:

    15) Well, it’s not killing an innocent baby to cover up an affair… just sayin.
